@Denis-ul2ek sounds like your opponent is tech chasing you consistently. mix up how you respond to reset from a combo and you should be fine
Having played fighting games at the highest level for years, with honesty I can say this is the best guide on combat in a video game I have ever watched. I was trying to find a solid guide for my friends to learn the game. Watched all the way through and there was NO wasted space here 6 minutes and 52 seconds of gold.

bruh this is an actual useful guide, the others r pretty useless and shallow in comparison assuming they probably assume players already know everything about the game. This video is FANTASTIC. I have fighting game background and I was picking up a lot just from casual play and some practice. I decided to look up some guides when I realized how much depth there actually is here. You explained the combat flow very well and opened my eyes to multiple possibilities. Pretty solid explanation of the overall flow of combat in the game. At 5:43 you mentioned the 2nd jA is not true but if you do it fast enough it is as the enemy won't have touched the ground yet, maybe another weapon would have served as a better example. Also might have been interesting to talk about why a character can roll or not from wake up (which also includes restands), as it is very important to understand which move can be used as a tech chase attack.

If you’re learning the game on katana maybe learn the basic katana grapple combo (the one that hits the blue focus after the grapple slam). Then focus on catching the enemy and not getting caught. This stuff is more important than combos. Once you’re winning the neutral consistently against decent players you can revisit katana combos or move on to learning another weapon. I personally don’t play katana that much, but I don’t think sliding uppercut and knowing many combos on katana is important for a new player, except if you play Tarka in solos. It’s better to learn the basics of all weapons and play different characters in 0ban and ranked until you understand how they all work.

Really helpful guide although its really hard to perform the negotiation stage because mostly the players are better than me.
That's the part that requires the most practice. There are some difficult combos and niche tech chases, but the main challenge is about getting priority in fights, and that's what any new player should focus on before learning fancy combos.

i mostly failed in negotiation phase and tech chase lol
aw... That's why keep combo me to death easily, also parry and dodge at the same time by somehow I can't do like them...
i have a question, does weapon type matter when fighting? I always loses when I try to directly fight polearm/heavysword. because of that I often wait to counter it or just runs away,
sure you have to play differently based on which weapon you are fighting, and you should also test your opponent and try to study their habits in the first few interactions
one major problem i'm having is, getting stunlocked by longsword, staff and spear with "H-CH-H". i would escape by spamming dodge or combobreak with F but get hit again with the same light loop.
obviously i'm doing something wrong for the fight to go back to neutral. dodging lets me escape for a second only for their loop attack to hit me after my s as gone.
it sounds like you're spamming holddodge instead of specifically timing your dodge and/or mixing up your reactions. if all you do is holddodge and it's not working, try other things like tapdodge, double dodge, s-dodge, repair dodge, hold blue, light attack, even double jump into grapple, and change up your timing (tech chases depend on enemy timing as well, some people expect you to do a certain thing at the earliest timing available and want to punish you, so doing it a little later might work great)
i don't want to give too specific advice here, the general learning is to try out different reactions against different types of attacks and figure out what works and what doesn't. do not mash the same button 100 times and expect different results
Hi, are you able to do a guide on movement? I don't understand how people move so quickly. Anytime I get in a fight with a high ranked player, I just can't move fast enough and if I need to get away, even using all my grapples, they seem to move much faster.

Is there an acutal 1v1 mode where you can practice the combat system in real time or do I need to add someone and make a custom lobby?
custom lobby is the way to go, i have a guide about 3ban settings to get you started
This is exactly what I was looking for. At first, i was able to just fight it out and win battles through sheer force. Now im against higher level enemies and i always seem to get caught and comboed into oblivion.
Now i get the rules of combat and can actually focus on combos.
Every single other guide ive ever watched doesnt actually go over how combat flows and just tells you "this is the mechanics".
I kept getting fustrated because i would apply these tips but i still ended up just being comboed to death. Now i know instead of trying to get out of the combo by dashing or whatever i need to find an opening in their combo or tje end of it to escape, not just try to escape at every turn because itll just initiate a tech chase where my dash will already have been used and they can just reset the loop.
you have to learn how to spot a true combo and differentiate it from a tech chase. once you are caught, you cannot get out of a true combo (except with a combo breaker). but when you understand the combo is over and their tech chase is starting, you can use a calibrated move to avoid the tech chase

Then how do I avoid being tech chase. Can you make a video about ways to recover after being combo. All I know is hold dodge and many people just caught me in another combo after that.
don't know if this is a video topic, but mixups are important. try not to do the same thing to recover all the time
this game reminds me of that one manhua or anime (king's avatar) where the combat would be similar to this if it was created into a real game
i don't know the manhua but people have been comparing the combat to minecraft so nothing surprises me anymore lol 😅
The combat system in this game is so convoluted. I don't know why they couldn't just do a simple light + heavy attack system with parries. In this game, everybody just spam attacks you to death while you ragdoll, unable to move.
Great guide im between 75-90ms and I realize I get put into these light attack cancel combos, I try to blue focus away but no input works and I get melted. Ik u said I could half charge but while getting comboed it won’t allow me
Your ping is too high, you can’t react on what you see. You have to predict. If there’s anything you can do to lower your ping, try to focus on that.

This game would actually be 10 million times better if there was a block button. Just Block any attacks of course only being able to block so much but still being able to block whenever you desire would make this game so much more of a skill based game instead of a concept of rock paper scissors.

And tbh half charge, true combo and infinite combos shouldn't be in the game, they take away skill and lead to mechanic abuse > skill.
Especially one that's suppose to have rock paper scissors mechanics, if you have a poorly timed blue or spam attack, you should be able to be punished, but you could literally never blue and win most fights due to half and light atks, which at that point it isnt skillful it's just knowledge and mechanic abuse since you're basically removing the mechanic that has counter play, shouldnt be able to cancel out or half it, once u start it's your choice so it should make you do it, like whites with animation lock, so they should either make blue lock n force or white not lock so you can read and parry blues that bait u into whites due to your reaction timing

hard disagree with your opinion though, the game is still a decision making simulator on the highest level, it's only mechanical to the likes of us who still have a lot of mechanical things to learn
if you have a poorly timed blue or spam attack, you will 100% get punished by good players. the existence of things like halfcharge, true combo and infinite just makes things more nuanced, it doesn't flat-out remove the decision making elements from the game
most other players also know about the existence of these things, so if you are at a level where you can consistently win by using these mechanics, it probably means you are underrated and will rank up soon. the real fun is still ahead

LMB= left mouse button
Anyway you could explain this for PS console I never know what buttons your pushing they’re very different.
i don't own a console so i can't help with that, but the easiest thing you can do is open the control settings and see what input is required on your platform for each action
I love these ideas… but sometimes other players connections are red and makes this system just a guessing game. I’ll often be con king while the opponent is just walking and I’m taking game from them for no reason. So I just avoid those players with bad connections and come back to them when necessary.
what happens on their screen is somewhat unpredictable to them too, you can always try to parry from a safe distance where they can't punish if you miss, or shoot or scalerush them. it's awkward for them too and i don't think there are many players who manage to consistently play well on red ping; you should be able to kill them
How do you avoid or get back in neutral if you’re getting hit and dont have any combo breaker skill?
Ive found that jumping and dodge works sometimes
at the end of a combo, choose an option you think the enemy won't tech chase (dodge in different ways once or twice or hold blue, depending on what you expect the enemy to do). make sure to mix it up

@@fivestatic2224 every 6th person on earth is chinese. the game has much marketing in china but little outside of asia, so the vast majority of players on any server are chinese.
99% of the people with chinese names you see on non-chinese servers are chinese people living in the region they play on.
if you die to someone with a chinese name, it's not a ping abusing hacker who dedicates their live to ruining the gaming experience of innocent westerners, but an exchange student or expat worker from china who wants to enjoy low ping and a stable connection to their closest server, same as you
you can very easily verify this by making friends with the chinese people you encounter on NA server

jokes aside, the "chinese ping abuser myth" has been around since launch and it's simply not true. i wouldn't play the game for 2+ years if i was a constant victim to evil exploits
I could learn all this and still not improve because of how unoptimised the game is towards the end of the game im on 60/144 fps for a fighting game that need precise inputs its just impossible to do this

Should you use melee aim assist? I'm on keyboard and mouse and I turned it off when I started the game, but I see a lot of videos where it looks like they have it, but idk.
melee aim assist always on, grapple aim assist should be set to automatic / manual

Might just be me, but this melee system of getting combos and keeping them reminds me of minecraft 1.8 melee pvp, where knocking opponents back makes them go up a bit, reducing their range which makes them unable to hit back while you combo. There is a difference in that in Minecraft 1.8 you can always exit a combo by turning and running the other way in order to attempt to reset the combo, whereas staggers in naraka don't seem to give that luxury. Also naraka's focus attack and light attack system is obviously far more complex than the simple range and knockback system of minecraft. Parallels still do exist though, as it seems they are the same fundamentally.

Man this shii is so hard on the console, i use to PVP all the time on blade and soul as a KFM and wreck scrubs on PC. I uninstalled this the next day 😞 so ass cheeks now i lost my gaming skills

The WHAT stage ?
call it neutral if you like, but neutral isn't properly defined. to some people 1ban is neutral, to others 3ban is neutral in naraka. so you might as well give it a name that captures what it's about
How to avoid tech chases?
Mix up how you recover after enemy combo (for example, don’t do a single backwards holddodge every time like 99% of new players)

@@Penemue because parrying someone gives huge advantage. master it then you are unbeatable. just imagine if every blue focus thrown at you get parried. it's like viper unlimited ulti.
most attacks can't be react-parried, so it's not realistic to expect you can parry everything with enough practice @@tuankumiskotak

@@Penemue but vertical attack is called vertical attack regardless of the platform, so any player who’s done the tutorial knows what a vertical attack is. that’s like saying new players wouldnt know how to use a grapple if you said the word grapple lol
i get messages like "can you teach me how to level my valda" when the game literally has a checklist full of quests in the valda cultivation tab, with instructions on where to find toxic shrooms etc. it's very difficult to anticipate the reactions and the skill level of viewers in advance sometimes@@simpliar3959
