never tie off to the rungs. tie off to the sides. if you fell into your lanyards the rung could snap clean off. its 3500 - 5000 lbs of falling force you put into your tie off. if you're tied to the side of the ladder, and one rung breaks.... you have many more below it to catch you instead of a singular rung.
