Hwaorang definitely deserves his own tier. Granted some of his moves are locked behind stances (which can be telegraphed) and he is a technical character but this dude has everything!! Damage, plus frames, hell sweep, command grabs, panic attack, counter hit, wild strings, wall carry, whiff punish, 50/50. He’s pretty steppable and if you know the matchup you can beat the average player. If you’re going against a specialist Hwo and you’re not a strong or familiar with the match up… forget about it. I agree with this list. Only thing i’m changing is Yoshi is in Most annoying tier and Claudio in very annoying. Yoshi is extremely toxic in 8 and Claudio players are getting away with stuff on this tier list because people don’t see the character in ranked as much but believe me they’re extremely annoying to deal with when you play them.
As a yoshi main, u strive to be as annoying as possible 😂. Fr tho word of advice against yoshi ss beats most of his options, patience and playing small(the opportunity to punish yoshi is provided by yoshis themselves), and most of his stance mixup is countered by one jab(ull not believe how good one jab is vs yoshi).
Hwoarang is annoying because he kinda hard-forces you to turtle and practically guess when you have an opening to attack back (often to a fault), and trying to play defense is extremely stressful in Tekken 8. So a character with an infinite chain tech will always feel oppressive by default. Also this is random as fuck, but I like fighting Shaheens because they’re ultra rare and I think it’s hilarious being used as a magic carpet. 😂
A lot of the fun factor comes from what your objective is, King Slaying is fun for me personally because of the past experience I've had facing that character and realising how scummy a large portion of the player base that plays him, the majority of the pluggers I've faced in Tekken 8 have been King mains. So for me winning those matches is peak euphoria, another leopard head for the wall. I would say Dragunov is high up in terms of annoyances for me because they're second on the list in terms of the players that love to plug when they're about to lose. People will have different experiences but the only pluggers i've come across are Drag and King mains, they do it in ranked and they do it in quickplay they can't help themselves.
i picked up law since i like the character alot and i barely ever see him get played or talked about. what are your thoughts on law players and what are some general looked down upon things on law players?
There's a bit of a meme stigma that law players are gimmicky little bitches who rely on the junkyard string into 50/50 mixups, the dragon tail and flip kick spam, 3 bar wifi connections, and like to ki charge on victories. Obviously not everyone plays like this but the stereotype had to come from somewhere
15:30 I'm a complete noob and a Hwoarang player because he felt better than who I would match with in Tekken 3 (Law) and I totally agree that he's an easy character. You could argue he has four stances, but it's pretty easy to bullshit through
Victor is actually really easy to be if you can get a low opening on him. He’s got absolutely no low moods like everything he has is one button combos it’s made perfect for beginner players that are button mashers like these people that have been playing for 15 years and never learned how to play and still button mash and somehow get higher rank. Even though they are complete garbage.
As a Kaz, Jin, Lee, and Lars main I'm biased towards this list for sure but I liked a lot of your reasoning. Great content, keep it up. I would only do this kind of list once in a blue moon though cause it upsets people, no matter who you play Tekken is extremely hard to learn so hearing that everybody hates your character can sting. People gotta talk though and I think a lot of your takes were super reasonable. Subbed!
I play Kaz and agree with most of the placements, think its prob different depending on what character you play. For example Victor probably has every character as fun to play against 😂
Dragonuv, King and Victor are my most hated characters right now, Victor players just press 2 and do their auto combo for massive damage, absolutely easy character, King's grabs you have to react to or mash buttons, Dragonuv has his annoying low as a mix up and if you dont block it you take damage, if you duck you get launched, then all of a sudden will roll and grab you from 10 yards away.
As a long term kaz main I approve 😂 ya we have the vortex but once you get into higher ranks its all fundamentals plus EVERYONE knows the match up. Its a hard life but us kaz mains choose it lmao
I honestly don’t mind fighting Drag, but I hate fighting Lee lol. I don’t understand his moves. Like that move where he throws you with his feet, is that a grab or an attack? Cuz I can’t ever block it
Lee main here. I think you might be referring to Mist Trap. The one where he does a fake mid kick into a real one that's high. Yeah, that one's unblockable, but Lee players only really go for during heat because it's a super difficult just frame move otherwise. They'll typically go for it when you're at the wall and can't backdash away since the range on it is so short and you're conditioned to block in that situation. You can beat it by ducking as soon as you see the fake mid kick. Then punish him.
Pretty good list except Jin needs to be all the way up there, I swear you don't even have to know the controls to get a red ranked Jin, dudes an autopilot
How is paul in bottom tier? Also I think Devil Jin is most annoying with Yoshimitsu as an incredibly close second (all though I am probably the only one who thinks that)
As a hwoarang player I admit that he can bully low level players very easily, even while being played by a low level. But as soon as you rank up, if you're just mashing you get your ass kicked, so at some point you'll have to know what you're doing, and that's not as easy as it sounds, hwoarang mixes up his own player. After a learning curve you become good enough to manage to put a good pressure on a good player, and that very hard to do, needs very good concentration and read on the opponent, and very satisfying when it actually happens.
Im not gonna lie I am always surprised most people seem neutral or positive about the kazuya matchup because I FUCKING hate that character. Not only are kazuya players hands down the sweatiest players online but having to guess constant hellsweep/mid 50/50 all game just gets old really really fast
I'm kind of surprised when people who play those annoying characters get angry about people not liking to play against them. Like, that's a big part of the appeal of playing them in the first place - that they feel powerful and are tricky and it's fun to be in the driver's seat most of the time making your opponent pop a blood vessel. Needing your opponent to believe that this is fun for them too is a little delusional though.
you are honest AF in this video. Agree with most of your stuff. Call me a scrub or whatever. Reina - should be up cause for her strings and BS pressure Lee- definitely higher. If Namco adds - Kunimitsu, Akuma, Ganryu, Noctis, Lei, Lidia and this game is dog shit. I left playing tekken 7 because of DLC characters
I'm a relative newbie to Tekken, so every matchup gives varying levels of annoyance, though it's less any actual animosity and more growing pains of not getting knowledge checked into the dirt. Mishima's have shown to be my gatekeepers. The second I see Kazuya, I pray they don't 50/50 me to death. I can't be mad at Yoshi, fun character to see do their thing. (Bit biased as a Yoshi player myself. The only time I don't mind a mirror in a fighting game.)
A tip on the Asuka matchup with Asuka or Jun. I've gained Asuka in T5 and T7 until I switched to Kazuya in T7 for the most time and also play him in T8. And my little sister plays Jun so I had to see how I could help her. B+3 is always punishable by F+2 from Jun (& probably Asuka) Personally I don't fin her annoying besides the parry.
Not quite the subject of the video, but the only player that’s plugged on me has been a Dragunov. The problem with him is that wr2 is such an outrageously strong move that his entire kit has to adjusted due to it being in the game at all. Make iWR easier, and give him multiple power lows, and you have a character that is a walking 50/50 without the large amount of work that you have to put into say… a Mishima, Lee, or Yoshi to get to do that. They can nerf him in every patch and he’d probably still be crazy.
Lili and Xiaoyu mess me up so bad! As a King main since Tekken 3 I feel his armour, heat smash and chain grab bug does really need to be looked into as he feels too strong in those areas.
The only fighters that always give me trouble is Hwoarang, yoshimitsu devil Jin, king, jun. It seems like everyone that plays those fights, fight the same like they all watched the same tutorial video.
Very fun Characters to fight = honest Character that stick to the roots of Tekken as a fighting game. No weapon No teleportion No flying No ultra plus frame advantage No gimmicks No wide screen advantage No hugging the floor
I genuinely don't understand how ppl find Lili hard to fight against No I am not a lili main at all, just find her extremely honest tbh no cheese at all wth
Dealing with King players is just the universal right of passage for beginner players, we've all had to deal with obnoxious King mains. I don't really play King but respect good King players, they are usually pretty hype to watch. Back in Tekken 7 Kazuya, Dragunov and Nina would make me see red though. Dishonourable mention to Yoshi also, it feels like your playing a different game when dealing with annoying Yoshi players imo. Still getting a feel for Tekken 8 matchups as I'm learning new characters and haven't put much time in yet, Josie and Miguel aren't playable so going back and relearning Bryan and Paul.
As a hwo main i can totally understand his placement on this list, amount of hatemail i got from playing him is unreal but he do be having literaly all shit u can imagine
Victor is only good if you're a dumby. Hes unsafe on everything highly overranked by literally everyone. Sick of people pretending the throws and 222 is so ungodly broken when again hes horribly unsafe on literally everything and has no mix outside of stance when you can just mash. So someone plz explain how victor isnt b tier to me because no one has yet
His 14 frame break throw definitely needs to be fixed but other than that yeah, he's very easy to deal with. Anyone getting caught out by the 222 doesn't know enough about the game to be complaining about characters being too strong because they'd also fold to jab spamming from anyone else.
I‘m a Fujin/Raijin Hwoarang main and I totally can understand when ppl get annoyed playing against him. Tbh I’m struggling at rank atm because at higher ranks ppl really got into the matchup and know how to play against Hwo. Same as many pro players don’t mind Hwoarang, because Hwoarang could never mash that hard on high ranks. I mean he can be annoying but he’s not a buggy sh*t like some other characters
Haven't fought every character but this is my list in no order based off facing people in red rank Most Annoying: Nina, Jun, Victor, Azucena, Law, King, Feng, Alisa Annoying: Jack, Bryan, Asuka, Lars, Leo, Xiaoyu, Leroy, Claudio, Raven, Reina, Hwoarang, Yoshimitsu Normal: Jin, Paul, Kazuya, Dragunov, Devil Jin, Lili Fun to Fight: Steve, Lee The annoying and most annoying are from against players trying to cheese with those characters throwing out gimmicks, panic buttons, strings with highs that are hard to duck, lows you can't block on reaction, power crushes, etc. The normal and fun to fight are from fighting against people who surprisingly know how to play the characters to a degree. I'm honestly shocked that I'm doing better than expected in this game because my win rate is above 75% around 1,200 games it's a struggle to win most of my matches because all people do is knowledge check me then win quit or lose and want to rematch but I'm doing the same to them in return it's annoying
@@WoFiN-fgasa I might switch her and put Bryan in most annoying it feels like all he wants to do is lock you down with bullshit to where you know you're not afraid but mentally you can't challenge or press a button against him so with Jin all I'm doing is playing the poking game all day to check him with fast hitting mids and never play range with him
@@Netami923 True, but most characters are pretty oppressive in this game. I don’t think Bryan is too bad because he has a basic gameplan. The ones that just annoy me to death are Xiaoyu, Lee and Hwo. It feel likes it’s their goal to get you salty 😂

Reina is ultra toxic and NOBODY is complaining about her 😂
Just jab her out of sentai and duck after ff2 (if you block)
But I get you what you say,it seems to me that lot of characters with stance basically forces you to accept the 50/50
As a long term kaz main I approve 😂 ya we have the vortex but once you get into higher ranks its all fundamentals plus EVERYONE knows the match up. Its a hard life but us kaz mains choose it lmao
I completely agree with kazuya, Jin, and Paul being fun to fight
AHHH I WAITED FOR THE LEE AND It got skipped lmaooo
@@SolunaPiano Ah ok thanks!
Pretty good list except Jin needs to be all the way up there, I swear you don't even have to know the controls to get a red ranked Jin, dudes an autopilot
Literally just spam 1,3,4
Jack being that low is crazy, he’s literally a walking 50/50
How is paul in bottom tier? Also I think Devil Jin is most annoying with Yoshimitsu as an incredibly close second (all though I am probably the only one who thinks that)
jin is "fun to fight" is just insane, one of the most annoing characters in this game for me
As a hwoarang player I admit that he can bully low level players very easily, even while being played by a low level.
No one cares about hwoarang players struggles lmao
@@FailToiletlmfao, he basically said “hey, sometimes I have to *not* spam crazy legs”
That’s fair tbh he’s a difficult character to pilot
I am sorry but thats bullshit.
@@austingoyne3039bullshit
My BF plays King. Fortunately I've known the matchup for years.
If they give Alisa a flying grab, I'm going to abuse the crap out of it.
Ling Has to be on the top of every list by default. Green ranked ling will make anyone sweat bro lol
Putting devil in the same tier as Lars and Leo ? Time for you to take a break from tekken
Reina fair to fight yea right haha
Never give up bro I know your gonna blow up some day
I feel like this guys just hating to hate tho bro like you can’t have 50% of the roster in MOST annoying.
For real bro, You get it. Matter of fact you should come out with a tier list fr
“I don’t think even Nina players like to play Nina” you’re absolutely right
King is the most annoying character I have ever had the displeasure of playing against in my 30 years of life
Im not gonna lie I am always surprised most people seem neutral or positive about the kazuya matchup because I FUCKING hate that character.
As a hwoarang player , I love this video 💀 hit tekken god today and people still fall for the same frame traps .
Yeah hes cool but definitely a big matchup check
@@Boogard would love to help you with the match up.. I really enjoy playing against him.
Aye, you can help me with some Hwo coaching if you like 🤷♂️
Thats just not an accolade. You played a gimmick character means nothing
you are honest AF in this video. Agree with most of your stuff. Call me a scrub or whatever.
Reina - should be up cause for her strings and BS pressure
Lee- definitely higher.
B+3 is always punishable by F+2 from Jun (& probably Asuka)
Personally I don't fin her annoying besides the parry.
How is Law bad? What are is weaknesses? Please let me know.
7:33 Nina’s power crush isn’t safe on block it’s -14
Because he don’t know how to punish LOL
The only fighters that always give me trouble is Hwoarang, yoshimitsu devil Jin, king, jun.
It seems like everyone that plays those fights, fight the same like they all watched the same tutorial video.
This list made me realize that i really really hate every character aside from jin and kazuya (i'm a jin main)
Very fun Characters to fight = honest Character that stick to the roots of Tekken as a fighting game.
No weapon
No teleportion
No flying
No ultra plus frame advantage
No gimmicks
No wide screen advantage
No hugging the floor
As a Lili main, I HATE fighting other Lili mains. I either lose or win but regardless I’m not doing no rematch no matter the outcome.
I genuinely don't understand how ppl find Lili hard to fight against
No I am not a lili main at all, just find her extremely honest
tbh no cheese at all wth
do you have any gameplay videos?
This list is crazy cause it implies you only have fun playing against 10 characters out of like 40.....
Jun just gets under my skin i swear they won't stop pressing shit even when I win she just makes my blood boil.
Anyone getting caught out by the 222 doesn't know enough about the game to be complaining about characters being too strong because they'd also fold to jab spamming from anyone else.
every character starts at the baseline of "annoying to fight"
Kazuya & king..hated by low level smurfs
Yep that makes sense
The four horsemen of death have to be
Victor, feng, jun and dragonuv
I‘m a Fujin/Raijin Hwoarang main and I totally can understand when ppl get annoyed playing against him. Tbh I’m struggling at rank atm because at higher ranks ppl really got into the matchup and know how to play against Hwo. Same as many pro players don’t mind Hwoarang, because Hwoarang could never mash that hard on high ranks. I mean he can be annoying but he’s not a buggy sh*t like some other characters
I will not tolerate the law slander
Haven't fought every character but this is my list in no order based off facing people in red rank
Most Annoying: Nina, Jun, Victor, Azucena, Law, King, Feng, Alisa
Annoying: Jack, Bryan, Asuka, Lars, Leo, Xiaoyu, Leroy, Claudio, Raven, Reina, Hwoarang, Yoshimitsu
Normal: Jin, Paul, Kazuya, Dragunov, Devil Jin, Lili
Fun to Fight: Steve, Lee
The annoying and most annoying are from against players trying to cheese with those characters throwing out gimmicks, panic buttons, strings with highs that are hard to duck, lows you can't block on reaction, power crushes, etc.
Idk man I think Xiaoyu is 10 times worse than anyone in the Most Annoying tier lol
Fam , I agree with all of you but I think Leo is kinda OP with the damage and evasion. He’s slept on for sure
This guy never played against a good Yoshi and it shows.
new to fighting games and my friend picked jun, i’m struggling tryna counter izumo
...I gotta ask man, if over 2/3 of the cast is annoying to fight do you actually enjoy the game?
I change one of the tiers to average at the end so its actually 50 50. Yeah I do enjoy the game but 50% of the characters are still annoying to fight lol
Trying to figure out how fight against the annoying bears and king
As a bear main we are slow as fuck and block low for the unga bunga charge
Watch out out for our low charge, Beyblade. Our low game is really weak, so explout the hell out of it
@@creviosso9216Unga charge is a medium lol
The charge (head slam)is a medium unless you mean the big charged up sweeperoonie
@megamanx1291 ya I learned just the other day the head hunter 2 is actually parryable
I dont mind strong characters at a fundamental level but so much BS is really difficult to deal with and on top of that
add
pluggers
cheaters etc
and again I wonder why do we play this game at rank level ?
You can collectively seeth all you want, but Alisa is indeed one of the most fundamentals based characters (unless the chainsaws are out)
Jin is honest, he just has alot of tools
Do you stream here on TH-cam, or twitch? Would like to catch a livestream!
Subbed
Thanks for the sub! I stream here on youtube
I have hardly ever lost to HWR. I ss and armor a lot against him, also his strings are readable, you also should put Kuma in the HWR tier
Never had problem with hwo and victor. I don’t even know what victor does when he wins because never lost to him. Kings a bit annoying, xiaoyu is very annoying, devil Jin is annoying in a way that his effects are too flashy I can’t see what’s happening. Matchup itself is fine. Jun was annoying at first with her fireball explosions but once found out, not much of a threat.
