I'm running a Halloween one shot and the banshee is my big baddie to drop the party as a last resort in a haunted house! I'm so excited and this is very helpful, thank you!

Love Banshee's. I always forwshadow them by says stuff like, "I am so angry I could scream".

When it comes to balancing encounters, I go with the following approach: If a monster is weak, the party can kill it if they find it. Whenever a monster is too strong for the party to take down, I assume the locals will be talking about how this terrible monster has been killing other adventurers groups. That way the players will be aware of the threat the monster represents. I assume the players are stronger than the average villager

In lost mines of Phandelver there’s a banshee, who is more like local secrets seller.
