Oh wow this video was like a mini course on photo manipulation. I didn't realize how much something as simple as contrast could throw off a whole piece but a ton of people (myself included) seem to struggle with that. Such an easy fix that a lot of us can implement to elevate our art.
one thing i noticed about the edit at 12:47 is its lack of cast shadows, all the shading is soft and glowy in a way but if light his an object that casts a shadow on something it makes a sharp edge and that doesnt show u much. but anyways love the video benny! keep inspiring :))

Benny! Been watching your stuff for a while and absolutely love your work. You've taught me a ton of stuff that I actually use in some major productions for Netflix, Hulu and Disney. One thing, try saying "simple" instead of simplistic. It was something I was taught in art school for what not to describe art as 😅 - Simplistic means something is too simple or misleadingly so. It can also mean something is not complete or thorough enough, or does not consider all possibilities or parts. So simple could mean minimal rather than simplistic being that it's lacking something. Keep making videos though, always love seeing your content dude!
On the hourglass design i do think the top part should be more highlighted since the blue orb is glowing. i think the columns needed more highlights and shadows on the outside, since the light source is on the inside, and the top part hightlight needed to be somewhere between both designs, not too bright but also not too dark. Other than that i think your changed made a lot of sense. I would also make the water reflection a bit more white on the top part to reflect the horizon light.

1:17 I'm so confused. If the top bulb of the hour glass is emitting light, why would you make the underside of the top of the hour glass dark? The bottom part of the hourglass being dark makes sense because it's farthest from the light source (top of the hour glass) and shadowed by the bottom bulb of the hour glass w the sand in it.
