@Ali Bhai and Sawera Ma'am - I had been a believer in Shan Masood's abilities but his Press Conference today reflected a denial oriented mentality even after a loss this humiliating.
Asked about mental strength of his team due to collapse in the 2nd Innings - His response - "No, had we restricted Eng somewhere near our score, our score of 220 in 2nd innings would look a lot different".
He dodged the point of the question completely. Because the fact of the matter is that they couldn't restrict Eng + they did in reality undergo a 2nd Innings collapse in less than 3 Sessions. Hence, the question of mental toughness.
Asked about Babar's selection in the next Match - His response - "He's the best batsman in the Pak team. As our best batter, we always feel he's just 1 innings away from getting back in form"
Does that mean, he'll never drop Babar while others around him will remain vulnerable to chop and change?
Asked about team composition: Replied: "composition was same on both sides. 3 pacers and 2 spinners".
was Salman Ali Agha inducted as a regular frontline spinner? Or was he helplessly resorted to due to ineffectiveness of Abrar and the fatigue evident in Pacers? By that logic, Pak team played with 4 spinners - Abrar, Salman, Saud and Saim.
Asked about why such a Pitch was prepared by the Management: His response: "We felt that the pitch would undergo deterioration by the last session of Day 2 but we can't always predict how the pitch is going to behave, it's not under our control. On such a surface, we had in mind to put up a big total and then try to bowl out the opposition"
So the team management confidently went into the match with a singular strategy even though they weren't sure how the pitch would ultimately play out?
If pitches can in fact be so elusive, then how could you not have a secondary Plan B in place, in case the deterioration would only materialise much later?
I also agree with Sawera Ma'am's point - That on a pitch like this, chances of getting caught behind and 'bowled' were next to impossible due to hardly any lateral movement off the surface or in the air. Field settings were so crucial to get right which were completely indefensible. On top of which there were 4 dropped catches. Therefore, the bowling certainly wasn't on par but even when chances were created, they were squandered.
By comparison, England's field setting was attacking during both of Pak's batting innings. Couldn't find huge open swathes of grass on either side. It was punctuated by fielders in good positions.
Hence, the majority of the blame on bowlers too is not justified. Yes, they looked toothless but not at all times.
Naseem and Shaheen's batting approach - It was 100% wrong and mindless. However, when your top-order batters have abdicated their responsibility to block and defend and bat out the day or at least get past the deficit to make the loss more respectable, how can one expect a similar level of discipline from No.8 and 9?
Finally, the entirety of his Press conference was based on hypotheticals which don't have a place in sport. "Had we done this, had we done that..." Facts transpire on the field and history is created the same way and here, facts are backed by huge fallacies in the dressing roomon the same even though they weren't sure how the pitch would ultimately play out? ? Score big in the 1st innings and then take 20 wickets?

I have been following you both since long back. I would love to add. Pakistan needs to really work hard on their mentality. The authorities need to take serious calls regarding team selection. It's not just about talent. It's about mentality which is lacking in this team which previous teams had. Watched Wasim, Waqar, Shoaib, Inzi, Anwar, Yusuf, Younis since childhood. The way they played cri6is missing in this current line-up. Love from India ❣️

With the selection of Aleem Darvas one of the Selectors, it's proved very clearly that Pakistan doesn't want to improve their Cricketing system, their legacy of Cricket. Those who don't perform, those who are big names, those who are close to the Chairman or have political clout but no Cricketing background, they are heading all the idaras 😂😂😂.. Had heard of reputed players coming into International Umpiring after retiring from active cricket. By appointing Aleem Dar as one of the selectors Pakistan has opened another avenue for umpires to earn their livelihood 😂😂. Players with True Cricketing acumen are appointed but leave, refusing to be the Yes Man. That's the reason PCB is full of non cricketing people who are busy minting money, ruling Cricketing people and destroying Cricket of Pakistan. We can't see Pakistan Cricket resurrection in the near future. Anyone is doing anything they want with no accountability towards anything.

It is imperative that Pakistan does better for greater good of world cricket...these guys in Pakistan's team have massive self doubt which instinctively creeps in, when spree of defeats happens. The process of switching off completely, must kick in(merit based re selection of players, asking them to grind into domestic circuit, scouting for format specialists and finally prioritising formats as per upcoming international tournaments).These measures will turnaround the fortune of Pakistan cricket, mind you, there isn't any dearth of talent but these players behave like block headed individuals with compromised levels of IQs.
