Awwww.... even the birdies got to enjoy that turkey! 😍 I love how you take such good care of your guests. You feed them well, you provide a healthy workout, you clean their wounds, and then you offer them quiet time to rest and absorb the beautiful world around them. You are the perfect log cabin host!
greetings from Portugal, you dear friend are an inspiration, continue to live life with a smile, thanks for the good times, listening to that crackling fire reminds me of when I was going to my father's mountain hut located almost 2000 meters above sea level, and fishing for trout in the lagoon and did not see or speak to other human and inhuman beings...times and memories from another life...Thanks from Portugal ;-)
Man-alive........you eat waaaaay better in a 150 year old northwoods cabin than most of us eat in modern kitchens in half-million dollar homes. Well done and super enjoyable to watch. Cheers from Wisconsin!
I live part of the year in the mountains of Central Portugal (Tudo bem Paulo?).... so beautiful. I love the tranquility there...fetching water from the levada, cooking with fire......only birds, squirrels, lizards, frogs, snakes and wild boar for company. I say only. I'm building a cabin there...often on my own, but sometimes with friends. Martin...I learnt so much by watching you...practical things like how to move heavy stones safely (I'm a slight , but strong woman), but also how to be still in nature. Don't mind my own company at all. Thank you for your wisdom and expertise. I love your life at the cabin.

Evening, Martin... That's a mighty interesting method for roasting a turkey. Looks delicious, of course. All this camp-cookin' is always a pleasure to watch, thanks. "Bacon Jim" sure seems to be enjoying his stay there at The Cabin...
Glad you enjoyed it, some cooking is really so simple. Five minutes putting a bird in the oven and then outside or my the woodstove while it comes to perfection.
Can't beat walleye at the camp. Sure is a shame to see that old timber get knocked down by mother nature but it's her way of keeping the cabin heated in winter. The camp bread from martha white looked interesting. Got a recipe? When I was a kid we used to cook hoecake for breakfast when camping, kinda reminds me of that.
I just follow directions for mixing the dough but then put liberal oil in a cast pan, flatten evenly and simmer about 10 minutes before flipping. Use your nose, cook it slow and when it puts out a little burn smell you are done.
