    I wish there was an equivalent explanation for every car/truck/suv/minivan engine. We'd save so much money. I don't own a truck, but it was a pleasure watching this. If I could listen to someone explain my 2013 Grand Caravan R/T, 2007 PT Cruiser and my new 2022 Honda Insight Touring engine's like this, I'd be a happy man.

    Half the trucks in our shop usually have "white smoke" in the repair notes. You are right- if you catch it right away, you are looking at an injector. I've got a small collection of what happens when you don't on my desk. A week ago, I turned in a core X15 with a hole the size of a basketball in the block! At the worst you would be looking at just replacing the engine. We've had quite a few of our fleet owners retrofit their trucks with Recon N14's, I had a cabover in the shop last week that had a rebuilt big cam in it. The owner had "Let's make the Old School New" painted artistically across the back of the cab, haha.

      If it's a Cummins or any diesel engine it's a sign that one injector dribbles a little bit when the engine is stopped. You'd need to have all injectors removed and tested on a sophisticated test stand. There's one in Toronto that can do it for $75 CDN per injector. Dave's Diesel - tell them Lane Harper sent you

    If it was my boat I would run it with a Chevy 350 4 bolt main and auto transmission and instead of gasoline I would run it on propane , Tell me if you have the time if you think it would work ? The reason I picked a Chevy 350 engine is cost to repair a 350 engine , I can completely rebuild one for about $400.00 dollars . And Chevy parts are cheap and Propane doesn’t go bad you can store it forever and it’s as good as when purchased and it’s safer than gas or diesel ! I have duel fuel generators that run on gas or propane . But I only use propane because like I said propane doesn’t go bad and gunk up the fuel lines ! My generators start perfectly every time , and all I have to do is open the valve on the Propane tank and turn the key no muss no fuss

    This has been happening to many people with the 2.8 diesel in the Canyon/Colorado because GM decided to install injectors that are running to close to the max rail pressure. Causing the injector to stay open and burn a hole in the piston within seconds of the injector failure. You don’t have time to shut the engine down before it’s destroyed.
    Years effected are 2016-2018
    In 2019 GM changed the injectors to handle higher rail pressure and fix the issue.
    GM will not update the early years engines. Typical….

      Once you blow up that engine it`s not jus a bunch of injectors to replace... might have a bunch of valves that went right through the pistons, sleeves are fucked for sure, might even bend a connecting rod and punch a hole right through the crankcase. An actual crankcase on some engines is just more expensive than buying a used complete engine and rebuilding it.

    Dear doctor my car is getting white smoke from exhaust .. no pickup problm,no milage prblm..no intimations.no turbo prblm.no coolent oil mixied prblm.. only white smoke..what will I do? One of the mechanic told me that it’s related with the diesel pump issue..is it possible?

    • @dieseldoctorlane
      @dieseldoctorlane  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not pump, could be injector. See above answer. Or could be low compression - worn or broken piston rings, bent push rod or bent connecting rod. Good luck and let me know how that goes

    Can a bad injectors cause blowby on a 1993 12v?

    • @calebebbett4875
      @calebebbett4875 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! I'm Caleb from the video. blowby is caused by excessive ring wear. All 12v injectors are located out side of the valve covers, so if compression leaks by the injector it can only vent to atmosphere

    • @blacksheep6888
      @blacksheep6888 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No injection of fuel has nothing at all with blow by its either ring or bore wear possible rings carboned especially if they are low tension compression rings

    You can be a great mechanic but nobody enjoys doing business with a filthy messy shop with junk piles everywhere. Professional means a lot of work these days.

    • @acemogany6369
      @acemogany6369 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is the truth but some of the best mechanics don't have the clean the shops and you know why because all the trials and tribulations over the years and stuff they've saved they get attached to when a job comes in and you need a bolt or you need something that you can't yet or they don't make no more you know where it's at but other people don't know where it's at and they don't know what it is that you have you could have $100,000 worth of Parts it in there and people think it's $500 worth of scrap steel but I stay organized I'm a mechanic and body men for the auto in I stay very organized with all my tools and everything I have it makes life so much easier when you go to look for something and it's right where you need it to get the job done or project done completed

    i appreciate the information and effort dont get me wrong, but its hard to watch, bit of rambling and getting a little too basic, most people on youtube looking up diesel diagnosis know what a turbo charger is no explanation needed, spitting and sputtering one word at a time working through pure basics its just dragging it out too much
    whats needed most is troubleshooting trees, if theres white smoke check this if thats fine check this, if thats fine check this, if thats bad then its either this or that use this test to figure out which it is.. no need to walk through bolt by bolt or explain every component on the engine, your audience has common sense were the rare few, we just need a little nudge in the right direction
