Love how you use the kids' scissors! REALLY LOVE how your N.O.V.A. = I can apply your lessons per grade level and just apply standards - huuuuge help and kiddos always love your activities. THANK YOU for generously sharing!
I just want to say how much I love and appreciate your videos! I am an aspiring art teacher and you give me hope and inspiration! Well wishes and blessings to you. Hope you have a wonderful upcoming holiday season. This video also gave me that holiday spirit
Hello again! How do you teach the element of value to different grade levels? Shading is a little more advanced and my 1st and 2nd graders would probably have a hard time with it. Do you even introduce it to younger grades? What projects do you do for older students? Honestly, I'm just now learning the specifics of shading myself. I don't have any formal education in art, but I'm taking lessons at a local studio. I'm just now learning about the different types of pencils and blending tools like paper stumps. Do you recommend any youtube tutorials or practice worksheets or activities to teach this? I'm on a cart and I don't have the budget to purchase different types of pencils so the kids are just going to be drawing and shading with regular number 2 pencils. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks so much!
Hi! I show how I teach value in a few of my winter projects in this video Winter Art Projects- Upper Elementary (3rd-6th grade art) th-cam.com/video/7TEZfoJVM3Q/w-d-xo.html. I start teaching shadows in 3rd grade just very basic talking about light sources and adding a shadow to the opposite side. I do this with a fruit bowl still life project. The pencils and blending tools I’d reserve for just your upper grades. You can also add shadows and teach shading with colored pencils, crayons, or markers.
All 3 of these are great ideas! I do have a question though. What is the tool you are using to put pressure on the papers for printmaking? Is it a baren? I would like to try printmaking and I have lots of supplies from the previous teacher, but I don't think I have that. Is it necessary? Also, how many would you recommend having for a project such as the one you shared? Thanks so much!! I appreciate all you share for us art teachers out here!!
Definitely not necessary! It is a barren from the speedball brand. Often students just use their hands in place of this tool. Having the rollers and ink would be most important. I think 3-4 kids could share a barren tool.
@@Managingthemess Thank you! I went back and watched the video again and you did mention that! Sorry I missed it. Also, having never done this, I tried to do the printing using paint and it didn't work that great. I used some block printing ink and it was better, but I'm wondering how far a 5 oz tube of it will go. It's expensive, so I'm wondering if I can stretch that small of a tube for 100 kids.
i'm surprised an elementary art school teacher would do such product-driven projects maybe take a peak at some of the research on how negatively a product-based art education effects elementary school aged children please, please save the skill instruction, the rules, the systems, the need for adult assistance for MIDDLE SCHOOL
Hi! I think this is a pretty typical seasonal project for k-2. Have you been following my channel or is this the first video you have seen? I’d be curious what you think of my typical 5th grade projects. You can see a sample of 5th lessons in this video th-cam.com/video/MZQjtgV_QjA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=28RH5uRb6Kqx_1QR. My school is K-6. Ours do not start middle school until 7th so, we have time to build their skills and confidence. In middle school, in my district, art is an elective. K-6 it is required for all.

Thank you for sharing! Where can I find the gingerbread house/man template? I didn't see it in your TPT store. Thank you!

I think you might need more like 4 tubes as a minimum unfortunately.
Where can I find a snowman reference sheet?
Mine is just a jumble of resources from over the years. Check on TPT or search Google
I’m looking for the gingerbread patterns? Where?

Do you start after Thanksgiving or in January?
I start the week before thanksgiving with some groups. Then continue the first few weeks of Dec with winter art.
