  • The Arches Provincial Park is a public park on the western coastline of Newfoundland and Labrador province in Canada. This park is famous for the beautiful photogenic rock formation.
We stayed at Holiday Inn Express hotel in Deer Lake city. Then started early morning to see the Arches provincial park. It was one and half hour drive from Deer Lake.
The Arches Provincial park is north of Gros Morne National Park near Parson's Pond along the Viking Trail. This park has free parking lot, boardwalk, and picnic area. The parking lot gets packed quickly on weekends and holidays. We went there on a weekday, so we got nice parking spot beside the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
Over millions of years, Glacial actions, wind and the water erosion and some other environmental changes, all worked together to make this wonderful rock structure. During winter months water gets in, freezes and cracks the rock slowly. Severe storms continue to slowly change and Erode the Arches. In the future, these Arches will probably be reduced to rock pillars or Sea Stacks.
