Hi Lauren, As a person of faith, I am a Christian, I would recommend that you seek out a local place of worship connected to your own faith. I have moved a dozen times in my life as a single woman from East Coast to West Coast in the U.S. and Northern California to Southern California for my profession in banking. I’ve gotten grounded and connected in each locale by church and a ladies Bible study. That’s been the safest and most comfortable way for me to make connections and then branch out from there socially. Also, give yourself some grace. 😊 It takes time to feel comfortable in a sprawling new city. It took me about 4 years to adjust to moving to Los Angeles from San Francisco and I grew up in Southern California! 😅 Wishing you well and all good things and blessings for your life in Paris. What a beautiful city! I just stumbled upon your channel today and watched a couple of videos and decided to subscribe as I enjoyed your content. 😊
You are a lovely young woman. Continue to be strong & courageous. I tell younger women to follow their dreams and not to let anyone discourage them from achieving their dreams! So many people will bully & discourage you out of jealousy or fear they don't measure up. BE THE PERSON DEAR THUMPER KNEW YOU TO BE!
Hi there Joan, I appreciate you making the time to watch and for your kind message, thank you 🙏 ❤️ and definitely yes, doing this for my Thumper is the ultimate motivation to make something good of the experience 🐶 Wishing you a lovely Sunday ahead 😘
Lauren, welcome back, and thank you for sharing your experience with such grace and vulnerability. I’m sorry about the loss of your beloved Thumper and that you haven’t been greeted with kindness across the board. Continued well wishes for more resilience and happiness ❤
Hi Rebecca, thank you so much, it's great to be back as I missed creating videos 🙂 appreciate your kind message and support a lot, thank you! Happy Sunday to you 😘
Moving to a new country can be very challenging. I’m Parisian but grew up in many countries so I’m used to adapting extremely fast but that’s not to say that some places are more challenging than others . Strangely enough one of the places I went through what you went through was in Australia. Perth. Work was horrendous. It felt like I couldn’t do anything right. It took 3 long years to finally belong. I was lucky in the sense that my sisters and I all moved to Australia together so I had that support. With my luck I had to leave a year after things started going well. But it made me even stronger and I learned that ultimately I cannot live up to people’s expectations and it was for me to go out and find people that suited me. We French and particularly Parisians are rather cold at first approach. It’s not easy to get to know us, it’s true. Probably because of our city, our language, our culture, our history we tend to have a superiority complex. But once we know you, we will be your friends to the bitter end. I am not saying this because I’m French but I have rarely found more loyal than the French in friendship. That said nobody has the right to treat you that way. Next time they bully you, be Parisian. Give it as good as you get. There are so many lovely people in this city. So do not give up. Know that there is always a time of adaptation. You’ve come so far. You’ll make it. It is your city as well now. You have every right to find the happiness you are seeking. This too shall pass. I promise 😊 And if you need any pointers about socializing or anything, I’ll be happy to share . Tu n’es pas seule. Bon courage ❤
Bonjour Kath, j'espere que tu vas bien et je te remercie pour ton message ❤ I'm so sorry to hear you experienced this, especially in my home country. 3 years is quite a while, especially so far away from home and in a different culture too. I'm glad you had your sisters there with you to help. What an experience you must have all had! I also understand what you mean about not living up to others' expectations and that we need to find our people, these are good points. 💯 I also really appreciate your insider view on your culture and tips as well, this is very useful and gives me hope! I didn't focus on joining expat groups as really I wanted to make friends with the locals as I thought I would be moving here permanently. Perhaps I can have a good balance! Thank you again for your message and perspective also coming from your experience overseas and also as a Parisienne, it's very kind and helpful. Merci a toi et je te souhaite une belle semaine 🙂
Lauren, I'm so sorry about Thumper! I know how it feels to lose a pet. Cheer up, head up and don't let anyone steal your joy of living and working in Paris. You were vulnerable for so many reasons: losing Thumper, leaving your family, being alone, the language barrier, that is why you were bullied. You were an easy prey. You seem a nice person, but there's mean people everywhere, so don't allow them to ruin your life. I'm sure you'll get through this! Good luck!
Thank you lovely for your message... it is unfortunately something we all experience but more reason to value the time we have I guess ❤ Happy weekend to you
I wish everyone thinking of becoming an expat could see this video. The way you shared both the wonder and the challenge so honest and human. Thank you!
Hi there, thank you, that is wonderful feedback and I appreciate you making the time to watch and message! And I love your TH-cam user name by the way 😉
Yes, really - it's an elegant, civilised, residential area. "Boring" can also mean safe, which is important. Very good métro and bus lines. Every single shop or service you will ever need. I've been visiting Paris regularly since 1976 and I still go to the same hotel in the 7ème (which is on its third renovation!).
I'm so glad you love it and appreciate it as much as I do - you're right, safety is important (especially as a single woman on her own) and with every shop & service close by. That's lovely you return to the same hotel, it must be like a second home for you here in Paris 😍
I'm so sorry you've been going through this. You deserve to be treated with respect and kindness. Your strength and perseverance in such a difficult situation are truly admirable. I’m really sorry to hear about Thumper too 💔
@@LaurenGraceHardinghave felt exactly what you have felt being a fellow Australian expat. I got a company transfer to Germany during COVID lockdown no time to adjust to move halfway around the world. Having a fellow Australian or NZ around makes life much more easier i found. Love from Switzerland 🇨🇭
Hi there, thank you so much for sharing! 🙏💕 I can't imagine how stressful that must have been for you particularly during Covid 😔 How long did you stay in Germany? Hope you are enjoying life in Switzerland 🇨🇭 ❤️
I had to put my cat to sleep in Budapest, the 4th country that she and I loved together. Now I am in another country/city (Paris, actual ly)and I miss her presence in my life so much. I feel you
I lost my dog Maile just over 3 years ago. She was my heart and my everything. I still cry when I think of her. I would give the world to have her back. I am so sorry for the loss of Thumper. I'm off to Paris next month. I have found the French to be so kind.
Hi there, sorry for the delayed reply and sending you the biggest hug for the loss of your Maile, I completely understand how you feel and how deep the loss hits... ❤ I hope you enjoy your time here in Paris, feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or worries, I am here!
Thank you for sharing your journey Lauren. Being so vulnerable and courageous in your journey. It sounds like you are growing from those challenging times and I hope it gets a lot better for you particularly the bullying situation. I admire your strength ❤
You are incredibly courageous -at 40, I moved to Perth from Sydney, so there is no language barrier. It was lonely and challenging, but I look back (now living back on the East Coast) and feel proud that I did it! What you are doing is fantastic - keep doing what you are doing because you are still in Paris and enjoying so many aspects of your life. And please keep making your vlogs. I'm so sorry you had to say goodbye to Thumper many, many hugs.
Hi there Paula, thank you for the message, it's great to hear from you 😊 That was a big move on the other side of Oz! I'm glad you can look back and feel proud of yourself, good on you for doing it on your own, it's not close to Sydney or quick to get back there either! I appreciate the encouragement and support, will try to make more vlogs here in future 🇫🇷 Wishing you a lovely Sunday and hope all is well back home in Oz!
Lauren, you are very strong and also an amazing person. Anyone who has lost a beloved pet and best friend knows how painful it is. It takes strength, courage, and self awareness to acknowledge feeling vulnerable. Never let mean people hurt you. There are many videos online that can help you survive toxic people like delusional narcissists and bullies. Always know that you are right and be your own best friend.
Hi there and thank you, I appreciate your support and the helpful encouragement so much ❤️ the video and research suggestion is a good idea 💡 I'll check some out here on TH-cam 🙏
I m so sorry that you have been going through having to deal with some less than kind people. Some people unfortunately are just down right mean and jealous. Remember happy people are not unkind to others.I love your channel and all your videos are so interesting. I completely understand your sadness about Thumper… I used to have a little terrier and he lived to the age of 17. Thumper s spirit will always be with you.
Hi Mia, thanks a lot for your message and kind support, I appreciate it 💕 yes you're right, hurt people don't hurt other people... I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your furbaby 🐶😔 17 years is such a long time as well so that's not an easy loss and would take time to process... I hope you're keeping well and enjoying your weekend, thanks again for making the time to message 😘
I'm very touched by your sincere and modest testimony. In the course of my life, I've also lived abroad for some time, and even in the most beautiful places in the world, being alone is always an ordeal. This is accentuated by the language barrier and the difficulty of establishing real, lasting relationships with the locals. And living in a big, bustling city, however spectacular, is another challenge. Day-to-day worries quickly overshadow the place's assets! You're smart, resourceful and positive, and I'm convinced you'll soon find the happy balance that will enable you to enjoy the City of Light to the full. With my sincerest encouragement.
Hi Jean, hope you have been well! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and experience - you've articulated the different aspects so eloquently as well, I understand completely what you mean with these examples 💯 Appreciate you making the time to watch and message 🙏 Wishing you a wonderful new week ahead
@@LaurenGraceHarding Thanks , already purchased some cute French outfits for him!! I am half French half German. I live outside of New Orleans, lots of French influences here!
Its nice to see a honest video about struggles we all go through. I moved Cities when I was very young, and its just never quite right when you are a stranger in a new city. It takes time to build community, definitely seek out other expats and perhaps groups of newcomers learning to speak french, I am sure you would be helpful to them.
Hi Laura, thank you so much for sharing your personal experience, that's very helpful for me to hear this and a good encouragement too ❤❤❤ And very good ideas as well, much appreciated 🙂🙏
@@LaurenGraceHarding I also suggest you reach out to your fellow local youtube community, there are so many people I think you would connect with . Maybe Arielle in Paris? Darlene in the Dordone (shes an aussie), KJ and Tony move to Paris?
Sending you a huge hug Lauren. I'm in awe of your courage and resilience and I'm so sorry to hear about the difficulties you've experienced. I hope a new chapter is about to open for you and you meet some new lovely friends that are worthy of a special person like you. Looking forward to more videos xx
Keep your head.up! Life is too short! Don't let a.few.people dim your light! You are an amazing woman! Enjoy your time in Paris. Remember your beloved dog.Thumper is always watching over you.
It’s so good you’re back Lauren. Appreciate your authenticity and sharing of this life changing experience! Heartfelt condolences to Thumper ❤and so glad you’re proud of yourself - your courage, resilience, persistence are all a testament to your strength in character! Hang in there x Can’t wait to watch more videos with more updates! I’ve had similar dreams when I was growing up to live in Vienna. You’ve ‘replanted’ a long forgotten seed… I will live vicariously through you for now.
Hi there Annie, hope you're doing well and sorry for my delayed reply. I really appreciate you making the time to write, it means a lot to me so thank you ❤❤❤ Ah you love Vienna too?! You know, it's my second favourite city in Europe after Paris, so beautiful there - the architecture is equally as beautiful and the food and coffee is incredible too! I can understand why you dreamed of living there 😍 I hope you can realise your dream, or at least visit there soon!
Thank you for making this video❤! Your story is very inspiring as my dream is to Paris. Please stay strong and keep those strong connections! I’m sure Thumper is watching over you❤️😇😇.
Awww sweet thumper my gosh losing a dog is so painful I’m sorry and I know how you feel I went through it as well ❤❤❤ dogs are the best I’m glad you gave thumper a great life with you
Lauren, I just returned home from Toulouse to visit my nephew. Unfortunately, I did not make it to Paris this time. Your video is so heartfelt. Thank you for sharing your journey to living in Paris and your personal growth journey. Bravo! I appreciate the honesty - the good and the bad parts of living abroad. It was very informative. Best to you!
Hi there, I hope you had a lovely time in Toulouse and with your nephew too! Toulouse needs to be on my France must visit list 😍 Thank you for making the time to watch it and share your thoughts as well 🙏 Bon dimanche a toi!
Thank you for sharing such an honest and heart-felt video of your experience. I can really feel and relate to everything you are saying. Having lived in 3 different countries in the span of 9 years, there are so many ups and downs, but it is truly transforming in so many ways. It gives you strength and reflections of yourself you wouldn't have seen otherwise. Your face lit up when you were talking about how much you enjoy making videos! It is a way of connecting to the world beyond your neighborhood. Bon continue!
Hang in there , hold your head up and don’t let anyone steal your joy . I’m sorry to hear about your dog Thumper, I recently lost my dog and you realize they aren’t just a dog .They are a most trusted friend , grieving is hard , especially if people don’t understand how much they mean to us. Yes you are courageous. Who knows what life will bring . Living in Paris may be for a season in your life or it may be for ever . You’ll know , your heart will tell you. I follow another influencer that moved from England to Paris , you two should meet 😊 I think sharing your authentic self mixed with life in Paris and some fashion would be interesting
Hi Linda, thanks for your message and I'm sorry to hear you lost your dog as well, sending you my love and hugs 🫂 you're absolutely right, they are definitely a trusted friend and so precious 🐶 Thank you for your insights and it's true! It will be interesting to see what happens, perhaps we are drawn somewhere which is really meant to take us on to other places in time 😊 oh that sounds nice, please do share as it would be helpful! And thank you, I will try to share a mixture of content whilst I'm here!
Awe Lauren, this made me cry… I know exactly how you feel! I moved from England to Vancouver, Canada and I felt all of those emotions! I even moved back home for 2 years… but I missed Canada too much! And I moved back…I’ve been here 30 years now…bar 2! It’s my home. I understand it’s harder for you as French is your second language… but hang on in there! The first few years are the most difficult, as far as feeling more at home, making friends etc… but you’ll get there 😘 and you have all of your loyal followers who love you sending so much love and support to you ❤❤❤
Hi there Dawn, thank you for your lovely support and encouragement 💕 and for sharing your story! That's quite a move but how great that you loved Canada so much that you decided to try again, it's wonderful to hear 🤗 and Canada looks so beautiful with amazing landscapes 🏞 Appreciate your support, it means a lot to me and hope you have a great Monday 😘
Hi Lauren I’ve just sort of found you on TH-cam Cried a wee tear for your loss of your dog, was so happy for your apartment then sad again to hear about your horrible experience at work These things can happen regardless of where you live and I’m glad you’re lifting yourself up and onwards Looking forward to seeing make new friends, finding new hobbies and experiences so chin up it’s all upwards from here
Hi Suzanne, it's lovely to hear from you and thanks a lot for making the time to message, that means a lot to me 🙏 You're right, I think these types of things can happen in any country, it was just so much all in a short space of time...I'm feeling happier now I'm back creating here on TH-cam though as it's giving me something to focus my attention and creativity on which is a great plus! Thank you for your kind encouragement, sending you a big thank you hug! ❤❤❤
❤ You absolutely rock. Thank you so much for your honesty. You *are* courageous, you *are* resilient, you absolutely deserve that hard-won pride you have in yourself. Brava!! 🥳😊
Dear Lauren, I was very moved by your story, especially the loss of your adorable dog, and moving abroad. I can very well relate: I am French (but not Parisian 😅) and have been living in Vienna, Austria, for almost 30 years (and spending holiday in Paris). Viennese people can be very cold and rough, there is a feeling of heaviness about them which can be depressing. I felt very lonely in the first years and it took me a long time to enjoy my life there. What helped me was going to various dance classes. I met all kinds of people from different countries and made friends with some of them. Having a passion/activity which makes you part of a community is essential. It struck me on the video when you talk about the switch you experienced by changing your focus and doing your videos: doir face lit up immediately and you smiled! You are right, all these hardships made you stronger and grow! Indeed, you can be proud of yourself. I wish you the very best ! And by the way I am a teacher of French as a foreign language and you can check my videos on my TH-cam channel where I interview people about the French language and culture 😊. Bravo pour ton beau parcours et bonne continuation ❤.
Bonjour et je te remercie pour ton message! Thank you for sharing your experience and also how taking the dance classes helped you, it's great you were able to pursue an interest and also meet new people... Vienna is one of my favourite cities in the world, so beautiful there! I am happy you have been able to make a new life there in Austria, even if it was hard in the beginning. Thank you for sharing your advice and I'll check out your videos as well, they sound really interesting 😍
Aww 🥰 thanks for sharing from your heart your experience in Paris after that sad loss of your beloved dog. You are an inspiration to me Lauren and I congratulate you on making it to Paris and finding such a perfect location for your apartment even before you got there. I am so sorry to hear of your bullying experience and the heartache and tears that brought you my friend. They say with every adversary there’s the seed of an equal or greater benefit. I’m glad to hear you’ve been able to move on from that terrible experiences with the help of your close friends and see and enjoy the positives about Paris. Thanks for sharing this U-Tube video. I’ve loved watching it 🫶🥰❤️ 🇫🇷
Hi Peter, it's lovely to hear from you! Thanks for the message and encouragement 🙏 you're right, I think it all balances out and I'm definitely able to see positives with the move which is good 😀
I found your video very moving and honest, particularly about the difficulties you have encountered in making the move, the loneliness, work place issues. I am glad that you have realised how courageous and resilient you are, finding your personal growth from a stressful situation. I think having an outlet for your creativity via videos and vlogs will be a big help going forward; it helps to put things in perspective, rising above any petty workplace politics. I wish you well and look forward to your future adventures in Paris.
Hi there Zoe, thank you so much for making the time to watch and also message, it really means a lot to me ❤ And yes, having that creative outlet is a big positive! I am feeling much better now I've started creating vlogs and videos again which is good. Thank you again and wishing you a lovely Sunday 😘
Lauren, I so sorry about your dog. Regarding loneliness here I totally get it as an expat!! I thought it would be so easy to make friends and meet people but it can be quite isolating. I joined a group AWG Paris which has English speaking friends from all over the world and all ages. I have met the most wonderful ladies that I can now call true friends and the group really looks out for each other whether and if you have a problem here you can draw from their experience. They do so many fun things. Sometimes you just need to be able to sit with woman and be able to speak in English and compare all your experiences. Just something to think about to make the journey easier. I really enjoyed your video and the realness of your sharing.
Hi Lorey, thanks a lot for making the time to watch and message, I really appreciate it ❤️🙏 its great to hear that you understand as an expat, and also to hear about your experience with joining the AWG Paris group! I will need to google the group 😊 thanks again for sharing your thoughts and experience, happy Sunday to you 😘
You seem like such a sweet person. Please come to London ... it is just as pretty and historical as Paris but Brits are really welcoming (we love Aussies and that's why so many move here) so you will never feel lonely. There is also no language barrier. Keep smiling ❤
Hi Suzy, thanks for your message ❤😍❤ I'd love to come to London, have visited a few times and it honestly feels like being back home in Australia. Everyone in London have always been so lovely and welcoming, and I love a British accent too! 😉 Hope you're enjoying the weekend 😘
My goodness Lauren, I have watched your channel on and off for a while and didn’t realise you had moved until I caught this. Well done on everything you have achieved - absolutely amazing and so much strength shown. Don’t let those bullies get to you - easier said than done when you are on the receiving end day in and day out I am sure. You keep going with the support of those who care about you. Bless Thumper, you did the right thing by him and you know it. Stay strong girl and go get em!! Xx
Hi there Claire, hope you are doing well and my apologies for the delayed reply... thank you so much for watching and sharing your support, it means a lot to me 🙏 Your message is like a warm hug for my heart, so thanks to you ❤❤❤ Wishing you a wonderful new week ahead 😘
You are a beautiful, lovely and courageous young woman full of Grace and poise. Your perseverance is amazing through all of this. You will be just fine and do well no matter if you stay or leave. All of life is a teaching tool and each season prepares us for the next. Wishing you the very best Lauren. I will be praying for you .
Hi there Sue, thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful support, it means a lot to me! 🙏❤ I think you are right, all of life is teaching is and I like how you mentioned each season prepares us for the next - this is true not only in nature but in our lives as well. Very eloquently put 😘
Oh my goodness, Lauren, when you spoke about Thumper, I just wanted to give you a hug. I always loved it when he appeared in your videos. Thank you for being so honest and vulnerable in this video. You are an absolute inspiration☺
Just found your channel & loved your transparency in this video. I'm a South African living in Spain and can 100% relate to what you're saying ❤ Subscribed!! 🥰
Hi Johlene, thank you so much and for making the time to watch and message, I appreciate it 🙏 How long have you been living in Spain for? I hope you are enjoying your new life there 🙂
I have been here for aprox 15 years. Its been a long road and when I saw your video I knew I had to reach out ❤ I sincerely hope you are feeling so much better when you read this x
Hi there lovely Mia, thank you for the the kind message 🙏 I'm sorry to hear of your loss as well and completely understand how you must be feeling... I'm sending you the biggest hug and my best wishes. Hope you look after yourself ❤
Sending you a huge hug. Losing a dog is painful and I know how you feel. You are very brave to move so far and enjoy living in Paris. Have some fun exploring the city and regions of Paris. Remember you are living in one of the best cities in the world 😊
Hi Lauren!! Just discovered your channel. Starting in a new place is very challenging....done it 3 times already, last one in Paris 2 years ago. To me it helps to create my own bubble and rutine. And learning not to care about other's actitude. Im not the most social person, so if you wanna meet for a coffee and discuss about it all, drop me a line. Lots of courage and strength!!!!
Lauren I am so sorry to hear about sweet Thumper. We had to do the same thing with our first dog that we had for 13 years. It was a blessing to be with him as he drifted off to heaven. I remember the doctor saying keep talking to him because hearing is the last thing to go. I’m so happy you got to hold Thumper and be with him as he passed. It truly is a blessing. Paris sounds so amazing. Enjoy!!! I can’t wait for more videos!
Hi Amy, I'm sorry to hear but happy you were able to say goodbye to your little boy as well, you're right as it is a blessing 🙏❤️🐶 Thanks so much for sharing and for your message 😘
What a brave, honest and wonderful person you are. Top marks for persevering. Unfortunately, there are always some nasty people along life's way to test our resilience. Well done you. I am sure this video will help anyone who is thinking of working in a foreign country. I love your fashion videos too
Hi Christine, thank you so much for watching and sharing your support, that means a lot to me ❤️❤️❤️ hope you're keeping well and enjoying your weekend 😘
So glad you’re back Lauren! It seems like you’re settling in well now ❤ I would love a video on jewellery. What are the key jewellery pieces to collect!
Such honest talk and I totally relate, lived 27 years in France and understood mentality is very different from where I come from, now I live in Luxembourg alone and restarted my life after divorce, also focusing only on work and not socialising enough. It's indeed not good but to keeping my job is my number one concern. I think one can admire a town, or country but sometimes our place isn't there.
Hi there, hope you have been well! It's great to hear your thoughts, especially as you spent so much time living over here in France ❤ I completely relate to needing to focus on work to keep a job and that being the top priority - it was exactly the same for me here as well 💯 And your note about how you can admire a town or country but it may not be meant for you is very true... I feel like Australia will be always be home in my heart - I'll see how I go in France but Oz is not a bad place to live either 😍 Wishing you a lovely Sunday
Thanks so much for sharing your story. Your Thumper was a beautiful dog. I believe you did what was best for your best fur friend. I know the heartache 💔 having lost my furkid a yr ago too. Thinking of you and know he’s never far from you. Sending hugs.
Hi there, thanks so very much for your thoughtful message and support, it truly means a lot 🙏❤ I'm sorry to hear of your loss of your furbaby, sending you a huge hug... you are so right, they are never far from us and always in our hearts and hopefully to meet in our dreams at night sometimes too 😇 Thank you again and hope you are keeping well 😘
One thing I will say that is nearly a universal fact, once you stand up to a bully and let them know, in no uncertain terms, that you will not tolerate their behavior; it usually stops I did not get to see Notre Dame when I was there, as it was under construction. I would love to see anything regarding that. Or, the catacombs, I did not get to see that either. Sending hugs from Chicago
Hi Wendy, you might be right - I guess I need to learn how to do this in French now 😊 I'll try my best to share both with you soon! Sending you hugs and thanks for making the time to watch and comment 😘
You are very brave ❤ I have visited Paris many times and it is a beautiful city . I think it would be the most rewarding and at the same time the most challenging place to live if you do not really know anyone. The Parisians are nice but I find it takes a lot to feel welcome. I know you will persevere and you will make some close friends. It just takes time . Hang in there ❤❤❤
Hi there lovely, thank you for your message, I appreciate it 🙏 So happy to hear you've been able to visit Paris and you're right, it is so beautiful 😍 I will certainly try my best to persevere here and enjoy the time I have. Thanks so much again and wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead 😘
Your dog reminds me of mine. Same breed and issues. I’ve just gone through. You did the best thing for him. I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s so hard and heartbreaking. Love the video and I’ve now subscribed. ❤
Thank you for writing in ❤ Yes, it's unfortunately one of the conditions the breed are predisposed to have.... I'm glad that I had the time with him though, he was one of the brightest parts of my life 😍 Thank you so much 🙏
Hi Lauren, greetings from Melbourne! I stumbled upon your story and watched it from start to finish. It was so honest but inspirational at the same time. I feel your pain about Thumper, it's been nearly a year since I lost my beloved 15 year old cat and I am still overwhelmed by grief at times. Good luck with your time in Paris, you are doing amazing! I look forward to your future videos❤
Hi Angie, it's lovely to hear from you and hope all is well down in Melbourne 🤗🇦🇺🙏 Thanks for making the time to watch and write, it means a lot... I'm sending you a huge hug 🫂 15 years is a good long life and I can understand the deep loss it leaves 🐱💔 they are earth angels here for a short time but leave such an impact on our hearts 💕
Bonjour I can totally relate to your feelings I have a girlfriend from Melbourne Australia, that moved to Paris with the same work visa and she also was bullied by some of her coworkers and she had a hard time sleeping and crying a lot fortunately, she met a very nice Parisian man in normandy and now they live together. I am an American man originally from New York City. Who lives in the Pacific region now I just got back from Paris last week second time and I really enjoy staying in the LE Marais area . I too love (Paris) very much. and honestly they were very nice Parisian people that helped me out especially when I didn’t know the difference between Bo and Le bon march’e and ended up at the 11th district in Bo boulevard in the 11th district my French is very poor. it seems like the younger generation speaks French, but the older generation does not. Focus on yourself and don’t worry about all the negative people. I am very sensitive like you and I understand. But don’t give them any power. Remember the Liza Minnelli song cabaret what good is sitting alone in your room come to the cabaret I think if you go out and meet some friends and a gentleman, you would be happier my best wishes to you Kind regards
Bonjour to you and thanks for writing! I'm sorry to hear your friend had that experience especially so far away from home, I can imagine that would have been a horrible time for her - I hope she is feeling better and more settled now ❤ It's great to hear you enjoyed your recent time here, even if you ended up in a different area from where you were trying to go - that's happened to me here on my holidays previously as well 😉 Thank you for your kind support and encouragement - I haven't heard that song will listen to it and completely understand the importance of getting out, so I will be focusing more on that. Wishing you all the best and happy weekend
I think you are just the loveliest, sweetest person. Thank you for sharing your experiences and giving us a glimpse into your life in Paris. So sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved dog. Hugs from Kangaroo Island❤
Thank you. I really enjoyed your honest assessment of moving to Paris. It's a dream of mine but sometimes I wonder if I could really do it. I follow a lot of American expats and live thru there experiences. Thank you for adding another voice to consider.
Hi there Charles, thanks so much for making the time to watch and to write a message, i appreciate it 🙏 I would encourage you to follow your dream of moving to Paris 100%! It will inspire you, bring you wonderment, open your mind and also push you to your breaking point all at the same time 😉 I watched a lot of other Paris TH-camrs for years before moving here but never would have expected the experience I have personally gone through, but that is life and we're all on our own journey. Your experience will be your personal path, but if it's what you want, there is no reason why you can't make it happen! And if it doesn't work out, you can always go home 🙂
Oh you poor girl, I think being anywhere on your own without close family and friends is very difficult. Remember most bullies are either jealous or threatened or both ❤
Hi Linda, thanks for your message and yes it's a good reminder. I will use this pain and turn it into personal power hopefully 🙏 Hope you're keeping well
Hello from South Africa , Moving country is always difficult. And living and working there ,,,,, So well done. Yes, courage took long to build but end of day u did it and made yourself proud …we r living in this world to writing our own history each day. Right or wrong ,people like us or not doesn’t matter ,time will tell and living your dream life girl, let no one stop you. I like to see the museum and vintage/ antiques 😊
Hello! Thank you so much for the lovely encouragement and support ❤ I love how you share that we're writing our own history each day, that is so true and beautifully expressed 😍 I'll try to share some museum and vintage/antique vlogs during my summer holidays next month 🌞 sending a hug down to you in South Africa!
Hello Lauren, I've discovered your channel through your Sezane reviews. I'm very sorry for your loss. I lost my cat a month ago and it's been very hard. He'd been sick for 3 years and he was 15 years old when I finally let him go. I understand also that the context was quite complicated and stressful for you. Discovering a new job, working in a new country and in another language... I feel sorry about your situation at work. Diving into work is sometimes the best way to forget everything you could face outside but it could also be a mistake too, especially in France. People here really value their free time and seeing someone new working more than requested could have been perceived more as a threat than an opportunity. Or maybe someone else was expecting to get your position before you arrived (there may be some context you're not aware of if you found people very cold). Socializing is also very important here. Taking a break, a coffee or a lunch with your colleagues, taking the time to know them better but still in being really effective at your work during your time at the office (no extra hours, no work during the week-end, taking your days off AND your sick leave when you're not feeling well). We often say in France that Emily in Paris is full of clichés but not on each point 😂 Maybe you could find a group of expats to find some help with these tricky situations but also have some fun and get some tips about new places to visit. Paris is maybe not the easiest place to start, a lot of pressure and many people are not very friendly. The day you get bored I recommend you to try other regions and cities. France is small but very diverse and has many lovely places (and people are much more friendly outside Paris 😉). I wish you all the best in your new life and I hope you'll find the right balance between your personal and professional life ❤
Hi there, thank you so much for sharing and I'm sorry to hear you had to say goodbye to your cat, I'm sure he was so loved and it would have been so hard for you to make that decision. I'm sending you a big hug 🫂 It's good advice about work so thank you for sharing 🙏 I've definitely been better at switching off and prioritising work life balance this year! I will look at connecting with other expats as well, thank you and also for your insights on the culture here 😀 I hope to discover more of France 🇫🇷 as it's such a beautiful country!
Thank you for sharing your story. So sorry about Thumper and those who haven’t treated you respectfully. How brave you are to make this move and stick with it! I appreciate you being so open - I think you’re amazing! ❤❤❤
I really appreciate your honesty and courage to be vulnerable to so many of us. I get it about loosing your four-legged best friend. I lost mine at 14 years of age over 5 years ago and I still miss her still. Interestingly, I saw a small dog at a winery outside of Lyon last week and for the first time since I lost my Zoe, I thought I might want to get another dog. Thanks for sharing about living in Paris. I just left there yesterday!
Hi Debs, thanks for making the time to write and share your thoughts and also your experience 🙏❤️🐶 14 years is a long time and I'm sure Zoe was well loved by you with the best of care 🥰 and perhaps you can have a new furbaby when you're ready 💕🐕 I hope you had a wonderful time in Lyon and Paris!
Oh Lauren, so sad for you about thumper, you’ll never get over losing him but it will get easier. I was so happy to see you back on TH-cam and worried about what had happened to you. Just hope you get things sorted out with the bully’s and don’t let them get to you anymore. I’m here for all your videos, I found you through the sezane ones but now I’m here for your new life in Paris.
Hi Diane, thanks for the lovely message and I hope you're well 😊 It's nice to be back and I appreciate your support a lot, thank you! Hope to share more and wishing you a wonderful Sunday 😘
I just found your channel, and as a fellow Aussie, I found your story incredibly inspiring and heartfelt. That takes great courage. Paris obviously wanted you for a reason, and you heeded her call. Bullies are everywhere on earth and I’m sure you will be on the up and up from here. Life is for hard work sometimes and enjoying sometimes, I hope you are in the full blown enjoyment phase and you’ve proved you’re not going anywhere! Enjoy for us wishing we were there too❤ Huge Hugs❤
Hi there, it's always lovely to hear from a fellow Aussie! ❤ Yes, I felt the pull towards Paris like a magnet... I like your thoughts on life is for hard work sometimes and enjoying sometimes, that's such a balanced perspective - and a good reason to encourage the enjoyment 😉 Thanks again and hope you are enjoying you week
Thank you for sharing your story with us. You've had a tough time of it, but lovely to hear that you still think it's worth it. I have lived in Greece for the past 15 years and still learning the language and still get lonely at times. You're so right when you say that neither place feels like home, but at the same time, it is. Looking forward to hearing more of your adventures ❤
Hi Kerry, thanks for your message 🙏 It's wonderful to hear you moved to Greece and helps to know you understand this experience, especially with the language, feeling lonely and that sense of home 🏡 Thanks so much for sharing this ❤️ Happy Sunday to you!
Thank you for sharing such a personal story, Lauren. I am sorry to hear about Thumper; you have loved him so dearly, he will be in your heart forever. I hope you can meet some special friends in Paris. You are really brave to move so far on your own. 🥰
Thank you for sharing your experience with such sincerity and openness. Sorry about losing Thumper. It's so challenging to let go of a lifelong companion. I understand. Moving to a new country is both exciting and unsettling. Uprooting and creating a new life is not for the faint of heart. You are courageous! It would be interesting to see how you spend your day, what food is available, and what feels like nourishment and nurturance for your soul. Is it expensive to live in Paris? Thanks again for sharing your experience.
Hi there lovely, sorry for the delay in replying and hope you are keeping well. I appreciate your kind and thoughtful message so much ❤❤❤ Thank you also for sharing your suggestions and ideas, I'll try to include these in a future Paris vlog video! I think it can be but it's all relative and depends upon your income, expenses and lifestyle. Certainly it can be easier and simpler as a student or young-20 something 😉 This is why I waited so many years to ensure I had a good job, as I wanted to ensure I could live as best as possible. But anything is possible with determination, resilience and persistence
Thanks for sharing your experience, at times is not easy but will make a stronger person in the long run. Sorry about your dog! Looking forward to your videos to see Paris through your eyes. 🥰
Thank you so much Silvia and hope you're keeping well 😊 you're right, it's these experiences that strengthen us 💪 Thanks for making the time to message and happy weekend to you 😘
Hello Dear Lauren, what a deep going (I am very sorry for the loss of Your very much beloved Thumper) and at the same time very beautiful video with amazing captures (for example from the fountain). And also I saw the snow falling in the video. And always feel welcome, if You need an online-word or more. I hope You will feel more and more happy and also more often happy in Your dream city. And that You will overcome most of the problems more and more. And yes, holidays are surely a great possibility to sometimes join with friends (and sometimes maybe alone) and to discover new (and not so new, but beloved) places, since for example all Europe is now pretty much closer to You. And yes, my support I give You. Hugs and best wishes 💐🌷🌹
Hi Marcel, thank you for your kind message, I appreciate you 💕 Yes, I had to include the snow as you know how much I was looking forward to seeing it here 💙❄️🩵 and you're right, I need to take advantage of being in Europe now for future travels, it's a good idea 💡 Thank you, sending hugs and happy Sunday to you
Thank you for sharing. Indeed places we live in shape us and reveal things about us. I also moved 3 countries. Lots of good and hard things too, but worth it. Love, Eva
Hi there Eva, thank you for sharing your thoughts, and I agree with you 💯 3 countries is a lot, I hope you have some beautiful memories of your experiences ❤
Lauren I really feel for you, and I understand how you feel. It was my dream to move from sydney to London to work for my company in the financial markets. I had a great life, apartment and friends in sydney but wanted to follow my dreams. Moving there alone was incredibly difficult and I was so lonely especially on weekends. Work for me as well was challenging. It took a good two years before I felt like I really had a community and felt settled. But you are totally spot on, that it really is a voyage of discovery and you learn what you are made of. Hang in there, it sounds like you are taking care of yourself to not burn out and coming back to TH-cam and giving yourself back that outlet is a great idea. Xx
Hi Shelley, thanks for making the time to watch and write and for your kind support, it means a lot. And also to hear about your personal experience as well, London is so far from Sydney! It's helpful to hear what your journey was like and that it took two years to settle in.... I thought I'd be settled after one year, so hearing about your journey is great and helpful for me🙏❤ Thank you so much again and so happy to hear you were courageous to follow your dreams, that is amazing and you should be so proud!
I’m so glad you’re back!! My goodness what a time you have had, it’s great that you are seeing those silver linings ❤ stay positive, id love to live in Paris one day xxx
Hi Eliza, thank you so much, it's lovely to hear from you 🙏 I hope you can live here one day as I'm sure you would love it, it's a gorgeous city even if challenging at times! Wishing you a happy weekend and thanks again 😘
New viewer. Would love to see videos about your exploration of Paris and rest of France. I visited in March and I loved it. I'm beginning my learning of French. I took it in college but that was MANY years ago. Lol. I want to visit again to see more of what I didn't get to see in my week there.
Hi there, I hope you enjoyed your time in France and can return again soon! There's so much to see even in Paris that a week doesn't feel like enough time, but it's a good excuse to come back, and also to help with learning French! Bon courage ❤
So good to have you back on YT. Thank you for your vulnerable and honest video. I have gone through similar issues recently. I can feel how much you love Thumper. Draw strength from all you’ve been through and try to keep doing what you love. Sending you big hugs from Australia.
Thank you so much for the kind message and hope you're going well down in Oz ❤️ I'm sorry to hear you are facing a similar situation 😔 I'm sending you all my love and a big hug as well 🫂 sometimes it can be a big help knowing we are not alone 💕
I'm sorry you have had problems at work. Often it's jealousy on the part if the bully. You have done something that they could probably never do: change country, find a place to live, learn a language. They may be threatened by your professional competence. I'm glad you are coming out of that dark patch. One thing that might help is to join an interest group or an association. Swimming class, exercise or dance class or one of the myriad associations that exist - the website of the Mairie in the 7ème will have a list. It was only when I joined a volunteer group around an interest of mine that I started to make friends and actually get invited to people's houses! Make the most of the fantastic TGV network from Paris: Bordeaux (gorgeous), Brittany and Normandy are not far. Sending you very good wishes.
Hi there, thank you for sharing your perspective and suggestions too, it's very helpful 🙏 I never thought of visiting that site for the Mairie in the 7ème so I'll need to check it out! And definitely agree with you on making the most of the TGV, that's a great idea 🤩
Hello Lauren....I stumbled across your vlog tonight and enjoyed your vlog so much. You certainly have had to overcome or adjust to so much! My daughter has just had to put her 1st little dog to sleep bc he was deteriating in his health. He was 16 years old so we knew what we were facing. She made the decision and he left us as if he feel asleep..yes our hearts are broken but we know we gave him all our love and he's not in pain. Anyways, you covered so much that you had to adjust to and probably loneliness was the hardest. It seems to me you've weathered the storm well! Your home/apartment looks like a wonderful, safe place and your language barrier seems to be minimal now. Very happy you've chosen to live out your dream..you've worked hard to make this happen. Disregard those rude people giving you grief...there is probably envy involved...live your life! Waiting for your next vlog!🎉
Hi Diane, thank you for making the time to watch and message, it means a lot! I'm sorry to hear your daughter had to say goodbye to her furbaby, I'm sending her and your family a huge hug and all my love at this time...It is good he was able to pass peacefully surrounded by love ❤❤❤ Yes, I think missing Thumper and the huge change with not being close to my parents and friends was shock but I am adjusting slowly! I appreciate your support and words of encouragement, thank you so much 🙏 Wishing you a very happy weekend ahead 😘
Bonjour! Excellent video! You are correct in that all we can control is our reaction (perspective) to events; we cannot control others or outside events. Paris looks amazing. We are retired educators. We just finished a long stay in Europe: 5 months helping a new school open in Lvivv, one month in Krakow learning about WWII, and a month in Tallinn. My teacher's pensions and our social security, plus rental income, qualify us for the Long Stay Visa. But we are not sure which area of France is best for us as seniors. Toulon looks perfect for us as retired and relaxed. It looks very safe (unlike parts of any big city in America). We love the beaches; reminds us of our beaches back in SoCal!! Healthcare, public transportation (like the Bart in SF), and within walking distance to markets (rare in the states, athough in downtown Portland we can walk or take the streetcar to many places) are important. Merci! Thank you again!! Dean & Cindy
Hi Dean & Cindy, thanks for watching and for your message 🙏 It sounds like you've both had the most amazing adventure in Europe and making a difference at the same time which is wonderful! That's great you can qualify for a long stay visa as well - it would enable you to decide whether France is for you and to explore the different regions 🙂 I haven't visited Toulon as yet so unfortunately I'm not able to share any thoughts but from what you've shared it sounds like it ticks the boxes for what's important for you both, which is important! And beaches are so important, I agree with you on that!
You are so brave to follow your dreams. Unfortunately, hurt people hurt other people. I am blessed to have my family to help adjust in a new country, but even then, it can still be difficult with just the daily tasks, like getting connected to wifi 😅 If you can, maybe you can attend some expat events and socialize that way. Also, my relationship with God has helped to carry me through difficult times. I will pray for you bc you have been such an inspiration to me and so many others. Please keep your kind and gentle spirit. Keep your head up and friends will find you ❤
Hi there, thank you and I appreciate you making the time to share your perspective and support ❤ I just wish hurt people could look inward instead of causing more hurt to others, but I know life doesn't work that way unfortunately. It's great you have your family to help, where did you move to and from which country, if you feel comfortable sharing? I also completely understand what you mentioned about your relationship with God and how that's helped to carry you through, it's been the same for me and my relationship with God truly deepened more than ever recently, probably as a result of the intense challenges. So in that way, that's been a true blessing 🙏 Thanks to you and I'm sending you a big hug!
I think that in life whenever you are full of energy and joy because you fulfill one of your dream, some people are jealous and you may encounter some bullying or mischievous behaviours. Suddenly you are in their place and you are alone so vulnerable. Listen to your heart. You are at the right place for you. You've done the most difficult part. I' m pretty sure you're going to meet nice people and make friends.
Hi Lauren, what an honest, courageous video to make! I have been watching your channel since before you left Australia, and I remember thinking it must be hard when Thumper passed away. I hope you thrive in Paris, and the setbacks will make you stronger. Thanks for sharing your experience. It all makes sense now why the videos stopped for a while. x
Hi there, thank you, I wanted to share the reality as it's quite a challenge but one that I chose! Yes they stopped as I was hibernating and trying to adjust here. Thank you for your message and wishing you a happy new week 😊
Thanks for your candour and sharing your most vulnerable moments. I’m sorry about your loss.😢This made me cry so much as I lost my 14 yr old dog as well last June. He was my first dog I owned from the start and my little kids grew up with him and are still grieving. I’m sure he would’ve loved being a Parisian Pooch too in a dog-loving city! 🥲 Anyways I’m glad you’re finding yourself in this once in a lifetime experience and growing! I hope you find some meaningful local friends to enjoy the city with. And look forward to more of your videos!! 😊💕💕💕🤞🏽
Hi there, oh I'm sorry to hear of your loss, I hope this didn't upset you too much although I can see how it brings up memories unexpectedly... I completely understand what you're going through 💔 and sending you the biggest hug 🫂 the first one may always be the most special perhaps, and I hope in time you can have a new puppy to join the family, when you're ready 🐶 thank you again for the message and you're most definitely not alone 😘
Thank you Lauren, you are indeed very strong! You are brave and very kind ! Know your worth and do not let anyone convince you otherwise! I watched originally for the Sezane content but you are sharing your experiences so articulately ! Merci! Looking forward to more videos about French culture and Rouje and Sezane perhaps too. God bless and protect you!
Wow, that was one of the most inspiring videos I have seen. You are such a strong person with a beautiful soul all the difficulties you have been through have made you who you are, an absolute inspiration. I'm sure you are going to continue to grow stronger and have the most amazing life in Paris, well done ❤
Hi there, oh thank you, that is amazing feedback and very kind of you 🙏 I hoped it could help someone to follow their dream but to be realistic that it won't be easy but worth it. We all need something to dream of or to hope for individually.... thank you again 😘
Dear Lauren, this was a very moving video ❤ I remember Thumper and how he made guest appearances in your earlier videos (I have been enjoying your content for a while). Thumper was an important part of your life and his loss will always hurt. You were both fortunate though to have had each other and those memories will always remain. I’m an expat Canadian who has been living in Europe (the Netherlands) for more than 20 years. In my heart Canada will always be home and The Netherlands is my second home. I feel your loneliness and the challenge of making friends. My closet friends remain those in Canada. Even though I speak fluent Dutch, I will never have friendships like those with my friends in Toronto that span 50 years. I am lucky that I work at the Embassy of Canada which gives me the opportunity to keep in contact with my roots. I really hope that you stay strong in the face of the issues at work. Sending a big hug 🤗
Thanks so much lovely Cristina! Yes I remember that too,, he loved to make cameos even though he had no idea what I was doing! 🐶 It's really helpful to hear your experience that even with being fluent in Dutch and living there for 20 years, you can relate to this, thanks a lot for sharing as that makes me feel better you understand! 💕 Those are the best friendships which last for years, even when you're in different countries 🥰
Hi there, thank you for watching and for your thoughtful message 🙏 It's wonderful to hear you've been considering a big move, I hope you are able to make it happen if it's your dream 💯❤😍
Lauren I applaud you for what you’ve done it’s never easy to make a move but you did it and nothing worthwhile is every easy things will get easier and better never give up this dream !! I’m so happy to hear from you I had been wondering where you went so I’m glad to hear your doing well I appreciate your honesty and your such a wonderful person keep going girl you got this xoxo 😘
Hi there Clara, how are you? Hope you have been well 🙋♀️ Thank you so much for your support and lovely message 🙏 Yes, I needed a bit of a break but it's nice to be back and to speak with you here as well 😊 Wishing you a wonderful Sunday 😘
I visited Paris for one week in November 2018 (my first overseas experience) and was blown away by the city's architecture it is stunningly beautiful e.g. Pont Alexandre III, Lourve building, residential units, streets, and parks - you are very fortunate to live in the 7th arrondissement. If you are into the history of the French royals it is well worth taking the train to the Basilica at Saint-Denis where all the kings and queens are buried under the building, however, there are many amazingly sculptured tombs throughout the Basilica (e.g. Marie-Antoinette) it will take you a few hours to view them all. We don't have this history in Australia. Although the French are wonderful people, they think a little differently than we do! Hopefully, I will get back to Paris again in the coming years - I do miss it.
Hi Graeme, how wonderful that Paris was the destination for your first overseas experience 😍 You chose a spectacular city to be sure! And yes, I agree with all the points you mentioned, the architecture and parks are stunning and the 7th is now my home.... I'm very interested in French history however I hadn't heard of that Basilica so thank you for sharing 🙏 I think it is the history, the language, the culture being all so different to Australia which is what intrigued me - the "old world" so to speak. Australia though is the lucky country and I appreciate it so much more with the distance now.... I do hope you can return - it will still be here and still retain it's historical gloire!
Thanks for sharing Lauren and for keeping it real. Many people think it’s all glam moving to a new country but you have highlighted lots of struggles that I myself saw in my parents as migrants to Australia. I truely believe it will get better! The sharing about your dog broke my heart. My dog who passed at 17 also was my first dog and my very best friend. He looks so much like your dog on close up. My dog was a Westie, is your dog a westie or Carin terrier? You did the right thing by him to be right by his side to send him off. My dog passed when I was on an overseas holiday and it was the hardest thing ever, to know I wasn’t with him. Just like you, I still cry when I think of him, 5 years on. I hope by making videos and us commenting it will somehow send some good vibes your way. I certainly love watching your high quality videos! I’m cheering you on back home! All the best and take care x
Hi there, a big thanks to you and also for sharing, I hope your parents were able to eventually feel settled back in Oz 🇦🇺 I'm sorry to hear about your loss, 17 years is such a long time for him to be by your side, I'm sure he was very well loved! ❤️🐶💯 Westie's are adorable 😍 Mine was an Australian silky terrier x Maltese terrier - they do look quite similar to Westies! I'm sending you a big hug 🫂 and thank you for the kind support 💓
Coucou Steph 🙂 That's great news as the hardest part is actually starting.... it will get easier in A2 and more enjoyable as you progress... then it gets harder at B1 😉 keep going and wish you best of luck with your learning
First of all, sorry about your dog. I also lost the best dog I ever had a year ago and the grief has not left me. You seem like a very nice lady and certainly beautiful. I like your calm demeanor, although you are not still totally comfortable. As to the false accusation, as long as you were truthful, you will find the strength within yourself to cope with this problem. Enjoy yourself and be thankful every single day because you are living in the closest city to heaven on earth. I envy you! God Bless!
Hello and thank you for your message 🙏 I'm so sorry for the loss of your dog and send you all my love ❤️🫂🐶 I hope you can feel a bit better in time... Yes it's making me stronger but it does come at a cost, not something anyone should experience 😣 Thank you, I'll try to share more of Paris with you soon!
A lovely heart felt honest video. Thanks for sharing your heart. It's not easy to make dreams come true, but in time it's all worthwhile. When we came home from living in a huge and sophisticated city overseas, there is a culture shock. Your life is just going to get better. Stay with it X0
Hi Christine, thanks a lot for your kind message and for watching! I can imagine that "reverse" culture shock is a real thing when you move from overseas to back home. I hope you were able to enjoy your overseas adventure and settled back now into home ❤
Hi Lauren, so much of what you talked about is touched on in this book which is written by an Aussie who moved to Paris: Almost French: love and a new life in Paris by Sarah Turnbull. In case you haven't read it, might have a few relatable moments and make you feel less alone 😊
Hi Daphne, hope you are well 😊 Thank you very much for making the time to share this recommendation, I will most certainly read this book as it sounds helpful and interesting ❤️ Wishing you a great week and thanks again for the suggestion 😘
I also really appreciate your insider view on your culture and tips as well, this is very useful and gives me hope!
Good luck!
Hi Adriana, thanks for your message and also for your positive advice and outlook, I appreciate it 💖 I hope you're well and had a great weekend! 🙋♀️
I’m sorry for your loss. Losing a loved one is devastating. My heart goes out to you dear.
Thank you lovely for your message... it is unfortunately something we all experience but more reason to value the time we have I guess ❤ Happy weekend to you
My best friend Sue died, 16 years , she had congestive heart failure! I was so bad for me, I loved her so much!!!
I wish everyone thinking of becoming an expat could see this video.
The way you shared both the wonder and the challenge so honest and human. Thank you!
Hi there, thank you, that is wonderful feedback and I appreciate you making the time to watch and message! And I love your TH-cam user name by the way 😉
My goodness! You were so blessed to have an apartment in the 7th!
Hi there, yes I have to agree with you on that point - I certainly was fortunate in this particular aspect thankfully! Rive gauche toujours 😉
I’m really sorry to hear about Thumper too 💔
Hi there, thank you for the kind message, it means a lot 💕
I feel you
Hi there lovely, I'm sorry to hear that, sending you my biggest hug and love to you right now 🙏 I hope you are enjoying your time in Paris?
I lost my dog Maile just over 3 years ago. She was my heart and my everything. I still cry when I think of her. I would give the world to have her back. I am so sorry for the loss of Thumper. I'm off to Paris next month. I have found the French to be so kind.
Hi there, sorry for the delayed reply and sending you the biggest hug for the loss of your Maile, I completely understand how you feel and how deep the loss hits... ❤
I hope you enjoy your time here in Paris, feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or worries, I am here!
Thank you for sharing your journey Lauren. Being so vulnerable and courageous in your journey. It sounds like you are growing from those challenging times and I hope it gets a lot better for you particularly the bullying situation. I admire your strength ❤
Hi there Kyleigh, it's lovely to hear from you and thanks for watching 🙏😊❤️ it definitely hasn't been easy but hopefully it will improve 😘
What a journey thank you for sharing . I’m sure Thumper is a Parisian pooch in spirit. 💜
Thank you so much ❤️🙏 I think he is as well! 🐶🇫🇷😍 Happy Sunday ☀️
I am coming to Paris, retirement with my tiny chihuahua Tad! Looking forward to it!
That's wonderful, I hope you have an amazing retirement here with your Tad
@@LaurenGraceHarding
Thanks , already purchased some cute French outfits for him!!
Thank you Paula for your lovely message 💕 I hope so too, everything should work out in time... wishing you a great Sunday 🙏
Keep your head.up! Life is too short! Don't let a.few.people dim your light! You are an amazing woman! Enjoy your time in Paris. Remember your beloved dog.Thumper is always watching over you.
Thank you so much Frances, and you're right that life is too short 💯 I won't ever forget my Thumper and I know I'll see him again one day, thank you 😘
Absolutely. Our loved ones never really leave us. They are with us in spirit.
@ganymeade5151 thanks, that's so true 🥰
It’s so good you’re back Lauren. Appreciate your authenticity and sharing of this life changing experience!
Heartfelt condolences to Thumper ❤and so glad you’re proud of yourself - your courage, resilience, persistence are all a testament to your strength in character! Hang in there x
Can’t wait to watch more videos with more updates!
I’ve had similar dreams when I was growing up to live in Vienna. You’ve ‘replanted’ a long forgotten seed… I will live vicariously through you for now.
Hi there Annie, hope you're doing well and sorry for my delayed reply. I really appreciate you making the time to write, it means a lot to me so thank you ❤❤❤
Ah you love Vienna too?!
Thumper was such a vibrant and beautiful dog ❤May he rest in peace
Thank you so much Sara, that means a lot to me ❤️ sending you much love
Awww sweet thumper my gosh losing a dog is so painful I’m sorry and I know how you feel I went through it as well ❤❤❤ dogs are the best I’m glad you gave thumper a great life with you
Hi Sally, thanks a lot for your kind message, I appreciate it ❤️❤️❤️ Sending you a big hug 🫂
Hi Linda, thanks for your message and I'm sorry to hear you lost your dog as well, sending you my love and hugs 🫂 you're absolutely right, they are definitely a trusted friend and so precious 🐶
Thank you for your insights and it's true! It will be interesting to see what happens, perhaps we are drawn somewhere which is really meant to take us on to other places in time 😊 oh that sounds nice, please do share as it would be helpful! And thank you, I will try to share a mixture of content whilst I'm here!

beautiful courage to live alone i know what you are living but Paris is Paris ! you're right i m agree with you so welcome in Paris your place !
Thank you for the message 🙏 ☺️ and it's lovely to be in Paris as it is so beautiful 😍 Happy Sunday to you!
That's quite a move but how great that you loved Canada so much that you decided to try again, it's wonderful to hear 🤗 and Canada looks so beautiful with amazing landscapes 🏞
Appreciate your support, it means a lot to me and hope you have a great Monday 😘
Hi Lauren I’ve just sort of found you on TH-cam
Cried a wee tear for your loss of your dog, was so happy for your apartment then sad again to hear about your horrible experience at work
These things can happen regardless of where you live and I’m glad you’re lifting yourself up and onwards
Looking forward to seeing make new friends, finding new hobbies and experiences so chin up it’s all upwards from here
Hi Suzanne, it's lovely to hear from you and thanks a lot for making the time to message, that means a lot to me 🙏 You're right, I think these types of things can happen in any country, it was just so much all in a short space of time...I'm feeling happier now I'm back creating here on TH-cam though as it's giving me something to focus my attention and creativity on which is a great plus! Thank you for your kind encouragement, sending you a big thank you hug! ❤❤❤
❤ You absolutely rock. Thank you so much for your honesty. You *are* courageous, you *are* resilient, you absolutely deserve that hard-won pride you have in yourself. Brava!! 🥳😊
Hi lovely Zoe, thank you so much for your message, I appreciate it ❤ Wishing you a lovely weekend ahead!
Thank you for sharing and expressing your passion for life. Merci. -Daniel (Paris)
Hi there Daniel, thank you for taking the time to write, it's appreciated 🙏 Happy weekend to you 😊
You are a beautiful, lovely and courageous young woman full of Grace and poise.
Thanks Emma, your kind message is a written hug and much appreciated 🙏❤️🫂 appreciate you making the time to write and hope you're doing well 😘
Just found your channel & loved your transparency in this video.
I’m so sorry for your loss! I had to put my baby down last September but the pain is still fresh as new!
Remember you are living in one of the best cities in the world 😊
Thank you Irena and for making the time to watch ❤️ it's a good point, I will try to explore and enjoy while I'm here 😊🙏😘
Ah thank you lovely, that's a sweet message and appreciate the video suggestion too 🙏💯🤗 It's a great idea so thanks a lot for this!
It's great to hear your thoughts, especially as you spent so much time living over here in France ❤ I completely relate to needing to focus on work to keep a job and that being the top priority - it was exactly the same for me here as well 💯
And your note about how you can admire a town or country but it may not be meant for you is very true...
Hi there, thanks so very much for your thoughtful message and support, it truly means a lot 🙏❤ I'm sorry to hear of your loss of your furbaby, sending you a huge hug... you are so right, they are never far from us and always in our hearts and hopefully to meet in our dreams at night sometimes too 😇 Thank you again and hope you are keeping well 😘
One thing I will say that is nearly a universal fact, once you stand up to a bully and let them know, in no uncertain terms, that you will not tolerate their behavior; it usually stops
I did not get to see Notre Dame when I was there, as it was under construction. I would love to see anything regarding that. Or, the catacombs, I did not get to see that either.
Sending hugs from Chicago
Hi Wendy, you might be right - I guess I need to learn how to do this in French now 😊
I'll try my best to share both with you soon! Sending you hugs and thanks for making the time to watch and comment 😘
Lauren, Thank you for sharing some of your story. Continue to be strong and very courageous.
Hello there, thank you so much for your thoughtful message, I appreciate it ❤
You are very brave ❤ I have visited Paris many times and it is a beautiful city .
I too love (Paris) very much. and honestly they were very nice Parisian people that helped me out especially when I didn’t know the difference between Bo and Le bon march’e and ended up at the 11th district in Bo boulevard in the 11th district
my French is very poor. it seems like the younger generation speaks French, but the older generation does not.
I'm sorry to hear your friend had that experience especially so far away from home, I can imagine that would have been a horrible time for her - I hope she is feeling better and more settled now ❤
It's great to hear you enjoyed your recent time here, even if you ended up in a different area from where you were trying to go - that's happened to me here on my holidays previously as well 😉
Thank you for your kind support and encouragement - I haven't heard that song will listen to it and completely understand the importance of getting out, so I will be focusing more on that. Wishing you all the best and happy weekend
I love the 7th whenever we visit with stay in a beautiful airbnb there. So close to everything. So sorry about your beautiful dog.
Hi Sandi, it's lovely to hear you enjoy the 7th as well 🙂 Thank you for your message 😘
I think you are just the loveliest, sweetest person. Thank you for sharing your experiences and giving us a glimpse into your life in Paris. So sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved dog. Hugs from Kangaroo Island❤
Hi there Linda, thank you so much for the kind message and so nice to hear from someone from Kangaroo Island as well! 🥰 🇦🇺 🦘
1st time seeing you on you tube. I've subscribed.
Looking forward to catching up on your other videos x
Hi Julieanne, thank you so much! Hope you have a wonderful new week ahead 😘
It will inspire you, bring you wonderment, open your mind and also push you to your breaking point all at the same time 😉
I watched a lot of other Paris TH-camrs for years before moving here but never would have expected the experience I have personally gone through, but that is life and we're all on our own journey. Your experience will be your personal path, but if it's what you want, there is no reason why you can't make it happen! And if it doesn't work out, you can always go home 🙂
@@LaurenGraceHarding Thank you. I appreciate your taking the time to encourage me. It means a lot. I will keep you posted. All the best. Charles
I'm sending you a big hug 🫂
It's good advice about work so thank you for sharing 🙏 I've definitely been better at switching off and prioritising work life balance this year!
Thank you Melanie, that means a lot to me, I appreciate you! 🙏 Wishing you a wonderful Sunday 😘
@@LaurenGraceHarding Thanks, Lauren. I hope you continue to find your way in Paris!!!
thank you for your story, it breaks my heart for your dog Stumper.I wish you all the best in Paris and take care.
Thank you Gloria for your message and support, I appreciate it ❤
Oh Lauren, so sad for you about thumper, you’ll never get over losing him but it will get easier.
Hi there Cathy, hope you are going well 😊 Thank you for the message, I appreciate it 🙏 I'm sure it will get easier in time as I continue to adjust 🇫🇷
I appreciate your kind and thoughtful message so much ❤❤❤
Thank you also for sharing your suggestions and ideas, I'll try to include these in a future Paris vlog video!
Hi Marcel, thank you for your kind message, I appreciate you 💕 Yes, I had to include the snow as you know how much I was looking forward to seeing it here 💙❄️🩵 and you're right, I need to take advantage of being in Europe now for future travels, it's a good idea 💡
Thank you, sending hugs and happy Sunday to you
@@LaurenGraceHarding Thank You too. Wishing You all the best as well/ happy evening and a good new week. 🥰💐🍀
@@LaurenGraceHarding I really hope things get better, I’m sure they will. Love your channel 💕💕
You have me in tears. I had to leave my Dog behind me when I moved over Seas
Hi Yvonne, I'm sorry to hear that as I can imagine it would have been heartbreaking for you. I hope you've been able to enjoy living overseas ❤
I'm sorry to hear your daughter had to say goodbye to her furbaby, I'm sending her and your family a huge hug and all my love at this time...It is good he was able to pass peacefully surrounded by love ❤❤❤
Yes, I think missing Thumper and the huge change with not being close to my parents and friends was shock but I am adjusting slowly!
Hi Dean & Cindy, thanks for watching and for your message 🙏
It sounds like you've both had the most amazing adventure in Europe and making a difference at the same time which is wonderful! That's great you can qualify for a long stay visa as well - it would enable you to decide whether France is for you and to explore the different regions 🙂
I haven't visited Toulon as yet so unfortunately I'm not able to share any thoughts but from what you've shared it sounds like it ticks the boxes for what's important for you both, which is important!
So in that way, that's been a true blessing 🙏
Thanks to you and I'm sending you a big hug!
Thank you Fran for your kind thoughts and support, I'm sure you're right 💕 Happy Sunday to you 😘
Hi Lauren, what an honest, courageous video to make!
@@LaurenGraceHarding thank you Lauren🥲 💕🤞🏽💕
Thank you Lauren, you are indeed very strong! You are brave and very kind ! Know your worth and do not let anyone convince you otherwise! I watched originally for the Sezane content but you are sharing your experiences so articulately ! Merci! Looking forward to more videos about French culture and Rouje and Sezane perhaps too. God bless and protect you!
Thanks a lot Karen for your kind support, it means a lot! ❤️ I hope to share some more soon for you and hope you're having a wonderful Sunday 🙏
It's really helpful to hear your experience that even with being fluent in Dutch and living there for 20 years, you can relate to this, thanks a lot for sharing as that makes me feel better you understand! 💕 Those are the best friendships which last for years, even when you're in different countries 🥰
Hi. You are very brave to move by yourself to a new country, I've been thinking about doing the same thing. Very inspiring!
Hi there, thank you for watching and for your thoughtful message 🙏 It's wonderful to hear you've been considering a big move, I hope you are able to make it happen if it's your dream 💯❤😍
Aww sending love this is a difficult experience it takes a long time to adjust❤
Thank you, I appreciate the love and send some back to you as well ❤❤❤
Lauren I applaud you for what you’ve done it’s never easy to make a move but you did it and nothing worthwhile is every easy things will get easier and better never give up this dream !!
Hi there, a big thanks to you and also for sharing, I hope your parents were able to eventually feel settled back in Oz 🇦🇺
I'm sorry to hear about your loss, 17 years is such a long time for him to be by your side, I'm sure he was very well loved! ❤️🐶💯 Westie's are adorable 😍 Mine was an Australian silky terrier x Maltese terrier - they do look quite similar to Westies! I'm sending you a big hug 🫂 and thank you for the kind support 💓
I’ve started with Alliance Francaise and am at A1. Arrrgh it’s so hard but I love it 😍
Coucou Steph 🙂 That's great news as the hardest part is actually starting.... it will get easier in A2 and more enjoyable as you progress... then it gets harder at B1 😉 keep going and wish you best of luck with your learning
Yes it's making me stronger but it does come at a cost, not something anyone should experience 😣
Thank you, I'll try to share more of Paris with you soon!
You touched my heart. Thank you so much for sharing your experience
Thank you for your lovely message ❤❤❤
A lovely heart felt honest video. Thanks for sharing your heart. It's not easy to make dreams come true, but in time it's all worthwhile. When we came home from living in a huge and sophisticated city overseas, there is a culture shock. Your life is just going to get better. Stay with it X0
Hi Christine, thanks a lot for your kind message and for watching! I can imagine that "reverse" culture shock is a real thing when you move from overseas to back home. I hope you were able to enjoy your overseas adventure and settled back now into home ❤
Hi Lauren, so much of what you talked about is touched on in this book which is written by an Aussie who moved to Paris:
Almost French: love and a new life in Paris by Sarah Turnbull.
Loved the Aussie book
