The “1.6094” answer for the “table of 5” question actually comes from the natural logarithm of 5. Meaning ln(5)=1.6094. This is based on the mathematical constant "e" which is at the heart of finance, interest rates, and currency fluctuations.
Missed the Darth Vader reference in the first scene of episode 1. Captain Silvo grabs the captain by the neck choking him. That captain explains that there is no money this a bulk freighter. Silvo responds with “if this a bulk freighter why is your vault magnetically sealed?” This ties back to Darth Vader in New Hope where he’s choking the rebel captain where the rebel says that “this is a councillor ship.” Vader responds with, “if this a councillors ship where is the ambassador?” Maybe I’m wrong but the scenes seemed familiar.
When will people realize not everything is a callback to something else …..sooner or later every scene in every tv/movie will be a callback to something else
I just gotta say this show is doing an excellent job of recapturing the Whimsical Star Wars magic I felt as a kid. I'm really enjoying this show so far, and I'm excited to see where the story goes!
Honestly I've been getting The Giver vibes about that colony. Like it was some sort of lost mineral planet from the Old Republic that locked itself under the Barrier to protect their financial empire. That whole, "we're going to give you a test and that will determine what job you get to do" is almost verbatim from the books.
@@rainbowquartz9513 at least they didn't have to deal with the empire but they might not be so lucky with the first order if the place ever becomes widely known.
Lina Soh was the Supreme Chancellor during the High Republic era and was known for creating "Great Works" which they reference in the classroom scene. So they may be romanticizing Lina's job as Chancellor during the High Republic.
The Great Works were a group of projects undertaken by the Galactic Republic under Supreme Chancellor Lina Soh during the High Republic Era. The Starlight Beacon, a massive space station constructed on the frontier of the galaxy, was one of Soh's Great Works. Other Great Works that Soh had planned included the Republic Fair, construction of communications relays throughout the galaxy, the negotiation of a treaty between the Quarren and Mon Calamari, cracking the code on bacta cultivation, and other technological innovations.
This is an important point. The money and this point to then being sealed off around the high Republic. The fact that the story pad also mentions Lina feels like Lina Soh, though she's not a Jedi. But who knows how these stories get changed over time.
i love how its so unserious yet they can actually make the story interesting, its definitely a breath of fresh air from other recent star wars projects.
28:12 Kids growing up in the city would have a similar experience with never seeing stars. There is a story about a major blackout in LA (I think) when the city got so dark, residents could see the Milky Way and literally called 911 because they did not know what it was.
Seems like a “twist” only kids will be surprised to find out. Bit like every Harry Potter always being the dark arts professor who is pulling the strings
I generally enjoy the star wars stories that follow the "other guys", like Andor. The fact that the star wars universe parallels our own in that there are pockets of crime, poverty and despair hidden behind an edifice of modern accessibility. It has always been the difference between Wars and Trek.
I loved the first two episodes. They where really fun and I can’t wait to see more of it. I hope we see Hondo in this series, like how can you make a pirate series without THE pirate Hondo
Jod didn’t use the force cause he didn’t have steps 2 and 3 of an escape plan! Wouldn’t have enough muscle to get through everyone, no credits to bribe the ferrymen and no guaranteed ship!
I don't think Jude Law's character is force sensitive at all. He only showed himself after the kids mentioned that they have a ship and one of them believed it was a Jedi temple. He saw their ship as a way to escape and lied about being a Jedi, somehow faking using the force, to gain their trust. That also explains why he only grabbed the key after meeting the kids. There's no point in escaping the brig if he can't escape the base.
So far, so good. I like the pirate aesthetic, I like the adventure tone, I like the premise and I'm digging the mystery surrounding the planet that the main kids come from. Very interesting stuff. I'll keep watching.
37:40 No point in breaking out if you don't have any way to escape. They told him they have a ship, so this likely seems like a good way to get away from here
No one has noted is that the ship is up-side down when the kids first enter (which gives it a very weird feel to everything) and that it slowly flips itself over during the take off scene.
During the school scene, I first noticed how the knobs are really cheap and wobbly for those screens. At first I thought it was the production dept cheaping out. But then I realized that school property is pretty much constantly in abused condition. The theme continues with the droid bus driver with a head covered in chewing gum.
My guess: At-Attin is not a planet. It’s an asteroid or remains of a destroyed planet. That’s why the ship got to space so fast. The sky is a shield video screen holding in atmosphere and keeping both sides of it from seeing the other.
23:06 this looks like a zeffo temple from Jedi Fallen Order. Those temples would allow Cal to go down into the temple so maybe that’s another possible temple. They also have those pronged looks to them more so than other temples.
Been trying to get my 3 year old into Star Wars, and this was the perfect intro last night. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. Made me feel like a child watching Star Wars for the first time.
I also think that the imprisoned captain isn’t actually force sensitive but made some thpe of deal to trick the kids into trusting him with the help of his old crew so they can score the treasure.
12:49 Assuming At Attin has remained the same since the Old Republic days, it's funny the RX unit designs don't evolve as much compared to the majority of the droids. 🤔 Also, 21:19 The swirly clouds seem like a nod to the Monkey Island series as some of the games do contain these type of clouds as well.
24:45 😂😂 I have a skylight over my tub it’s great. I don’t expect a lot of people climbing my roof to whisk me off to adventure while I’m getting my soak on
Anyone else besides me felt a lil troll hunters tales of arcadia, jim and toby shortcut to school vibes? Nice clone wars comparison 👍 i had the exact same thought
I think the question of At Attin is definitely a little more complex than it first appears. The Old Republic credits, the references to and use of the Great Work, and how the planet is isolated from the rest of the galaxy (Neels' referring to an "alien" in Ep2 when he sees a species not encountered on At Attin). Even Wim's holopad is a subtle misdirect (easily detected if you can read the Aurabesh, but the Jedi on a jungle planet, fighting a monster that looks an awful lot like a Rancor - it is intentionally similar to Luke Skywalker's story). I believe At Attin has been isolated since at least the Old Republic era, with the legends of a pirate treasure sprouting from there.
I really like this series more than I thought I would it really feels like a combination of the Goonies and Pirates of the Caribbean I hope this treasure has some spooky curse attached to it maybe dark side related
Pirates of the carribian, meets starwars meets the goonies pour one out for nostalgia people I don't know why, but when the mentioned old republic credits, called At Attin a myth, and then our droid first mate went to town, I kinda half expected to hear it revealed he was actually a K-series droid. One last thing... considering the fact that At Attin uses old republic credits implying its exceedingly fing old... something tells me that ship... isn't just any ship... it could very well be a old sith warship
I believe the rancor like being is a tarrentatek I assumed that it was like that episode of clone wars where anakin and obi wan get stuck on a planet, except at-attin has been closed off since the old republic.
Hi, not sure if you caught it already, but as far as Jod Na Nawood not being a Jedi & just a force user, he does seem to at least have a lightsaber hilt hanging from his belt around the 1:19 mark in the last trailer. I thought it may be a blaster, but his blaster is holstered.
In E1, Wim being late for school and sliding into the ditch reminds me of how Jim found the Amulet of Daylight in Troll Hunters. Maybe it's just a trope 🤷♀️
When Neel said "Like what?" I said that was adorable. I wonder how "At-At" people say A.T-S.T. Maybe they just say chicken walker. I had to take a photo of the Frisbee on the roof. 😂

It's definitely worth remembering that all Jedi are Force-users, but not all Force-users are Jedi.

Definitely written to be a mirror scene to it, making a little reference for people who notice
Thought it would be one of the first things pointed out in the video.

They probably don’t know about the clone wars, order 66, the rise and fall of the republic/ the empire, the rebellion, or anything.
@@excalibos IMO the villains of the stories being The Sith, rather than anyone else, is a good indication of this too.

This was definitely a fun kid Goonies and ET adventure. Nothing too serious, but a fun time to sit back and have fun!
This is why I come to NR for out of the blue Plato's Allegory of the Cave references. *Muah* chef's kiss.
Hiring Jon Watts for this was a pro gamer move
When they first enter that ship with Teek, that's a homage to the 'Tunnel Scene' in ET.
Another American Graffiti reference: Bonjj Phalfa is a reference to Harrison Ford’s character, racing-obsessed bully Bob Falfa.
Am I the only one thinking Wim playing with his dolls was a reference to Spaceballs? Even the way Wim hold the dolls was like Dark Helmet did.
KB is my favorite, Fern is a good leader, Wym the adventureious troublemaker, a Neel well Neel is the GOAT!
KB is Data from Goonies

So... Jude Law played Captain Hook for Disney before, and now he acts with a character called SM33.

Suspicious shape on that "autumn leaf patch".... very Suspicious
Loving the nostalgia and the all references !!!!
Also when wym and neel are playing with invisible lightsabers, it reminds me of Steve and Dustin in stranger things season 3
