Molter was an extremely prolific composer. It's fortunate that Molter's scores survive and there is a thematic index of his music that was researched by Klaus Häfner. This symphony in the new thematic index is MWV 7.14 and for this symphony, there are 5 timpani.

Symphony No. 99, in which timpani plays an important role, which is the work of my favorite Johann Melchior Molter, is a symphony that should represent the pre-classical period. It seems to have been composed in 1750, and although it is about a generation pioneered by pre-classical composers such as L. Mozart, Molter is undoubtedly a pre-classical composer. Timpani is rampaging from the 1st movement, and even if you put it in the 3rd movement or the 4th movement = Menuett, the tendency does not change and you will not be surprised if it is classified as timpani Concerto anymore. In any case, for someone like me who loves pre-classical music, I think this song surpasses L. Mozart from the prolific thing that sinfonìa is at least 99 songs. This sound source is very valuable, so I will add it to my Molter playlist.
Yes, Klaus Häfner catalogued about 170 symphonies and created the Molter thematic index. The quality can vary of course with that many symphonies; this specific symphony is exceptionally good, and that's reflected by the fact both the autograph score and the original performance parts survive. Most of Molter's performance parts for the symphonies did not survive (for various reasons). Most of the Molter manuscripts are scanned and available online now, ISMPL has nearly all of them. I can send you a PDF of Klaus Häfner's summary for the symphonies, with the MWV number, and the scoring, and the library shelf number. Just let me know where to send the PDF via E-mail. (The PDF is only six pages).

Fantastic! Reminds me of Endler’s Sinfonia’s which use timpani to produce a lively musical performance ❤

So wonderful with the tympani! One might call this a golden era of drums.
Molter composed over 150 symphonies !

Molter wrote about 150 symphonies. This particular sinfonia is really great, and a favorite of mine as well.
The occasional use of the solo timpani is indeed very impressive.
@@telemannNnyc Is Molter's symphony as many as 150?
Not all songs, but I would love to hear more of his symphonies.

The word you are looking for is "Galant", not pre-Classical. But yes. I agree with you.
Bellissima musica 👏👏👏
