  • There is no "perfect" or "correct" white balance-depends how you want your shot to feel. A quick moment from my filmmaking workshops in Zimbabwe.

    Yes I agree with you that your white balance setting is one of the many artistic choices you can make vs any particular setting being either right or wrong

      I used to always use a white or grey card to set white balance, and then realized I was happier with the result when I just toggled through the sun/cloud/shade presets-or dialed in the Kelvin manually.

    And if you are making a movie and something happens in Mexico, make it all yellow. 😂

      Yes, Hollywood has a tendency to exoticize other countries (especially Mexico) by overdoing the red/yellow tones.

    I pretty much always shoot at 4500k for my live event video (concerts and band performances) because the light varies drastically and isnt always the best quality. I would rather all my cameras be the same than correct.

    You get it close enough so in post you want to add or take away colors as needed
