Last year, I really wanted to see a film in the theatre but nobody in my friend group wanted to. So I went by myself. It was a really small theatre and I sat there with like five other people that all went there by themselves as well. We didn’t talk to each other, just enjoyed the film and laughed together. And then I went home, marvelling in the post-theatre feeling in silence, just feeling, no talking. I still think about this day and cannot recommend it enough: If you want to do something nobody else wants to do, just do it by yourself!❤
You're so right, Jade - but unfortunately a lot of people confuse solitude with loneliness. To my mind it's only **unwanted** solitude that equals loneliness. There is nothing more satisfying than solo afternoon cinema trips, museum trips, book-shopping and sitting alone in cafés for hours just watching the world go by. 😊👌👌👌
Jade, thank you so much for sharing your story about your first relationship. Your words touched me deep, it made me realize I’m not the only one having experienced this kind of relationship. It shattered me, but I always thought this was just me being weak. Thank you for telling, I wish you all the love in the world. ❤
This video could not have come at a better time, Jade. I just wanted to say thank you for posting this - I needed it. Your first solo date video was your first video I ever watched and it truly shifted my perspective. I was back home during my gap year and it helped me romanticize and fall in love with my life. Over that year I became so comfortable with solitude and felt so confident in who I was. Now as a senior in college, I’ve been feeling more lost than ever - craving that self-assured version of me who was inspired by your video. Hearing you speak today to your experience of growing and learning and you too craving HER (you from the past) made me feel so seen and understood and also normalized that this is all a journey and we never really lose that part of ourselves. We can always return to HER because she’s always been there.
Totally this, many people think you need to be in a relationship to be "truly happy", so they just focus on that as an objective instead of focusing on loving themselves (:
I was cleaning my room while listening to your video in the background. When you started that little breathing exercise, I stopped in my tracks, sat down on the floor an joined in. Afterwards I couldn't stop smiling. It is so nice to see meditation and breathing exercises so wonderfully implemented in social media, it felt like, for a moment, all people watching and you creating were able to connect, beyond borders of time, a screen or language :)
I really love going on dates with myself and when I hang out a lot with other people for weeks and don't make time for it, I really miss it. As an introvert (kind of), it's so re-charging for me and I highly recommend trying it :) I feel like the best thing about hanging out with people is the conversations, the exchange of stories and thoughts, and the making of shared memories. But the best thing about doing activities on your own is that you can truly and - for a change - without any compromise or discussion do intuitively whatever you want to do, when you want to do it and at what pace. You have so much space to focus on and appreciate these activities, to slow down, look around and just enjoy them without anyone else's input. That can be going to the cinema, or going swimming or having a coffee in a café and reading and only leaving whenever you feel like it, or solo travelling as well. For me, that is so important, it makes me feel so free, and I love it as much as doing something with friends, family or my partner. It never occurred to me that it can feel somehow awkward for other people, I personally always felt really good about it, so maybe it depends on how you approach it. But the most important thing is always to do whatever you like and what you feel comfortable with, that is so personal and everyone's needs are different. :) Just listen to yourself and what you need, what makes you feel happy, and not so much to what you think society expects of you. :)
Obviously the whole video is so meaningful, but as someone with audio processing issues (I’m autistic) I really appreciate the subtitles being on the video itself, as closed captions aren’t always accurate. Thank you for another lovely, uplifting video Jade ☺️💜
Today I've been so miserable for a hard time due to a toxic relationship that ended up with a cruel betrayal. With this video you've brighten up my evening, thank you Jade, from the bottom of my tender, sad and still so strong heart ❤
Not much of a commenter but just wanted to say, Jade, I've been following you since before your a-levels. You are one year ahead of me and so it's such a comfort to see you thriving and imagining how I'll be in a year's time! I am so grateful for my last year of uni and seeing you graduate and continue living so inspirationally is just awesome! Thank you x
Jade, I go things on my own. I go to the movies on my own all the time. I even once saw an outdoor play in the park by myself in the evening. I do grocery shopping on my own. I eat in restaurants by myself.
So inspiring! I have moved in my life twice to a new city or even new country completely on my own. But now that I'm fully comfortable in my new home with my partner, doing the dates with myself I find very difficult. However I was kinda committed to it and I always had wanted to go on a little trip alone, so I went 2 days alone to Prague (where I don't speak the language but had been once before with fam). And omg has this experience empowered me :) I got to spend a every second of the day just observing what I want and listening to that. I had to go alone to restaurants and cafés and in just 2 days it has become way easier now. I hope I keep training the muscle of doing things alone for myself, to keep what I've learned in this trip forever with me❤🦋
yay a new jade video! my casual magic this week was having a chai latte and cake in the park before i revised for my geography exam! it was fab early autumn vibes :))
7:49 This was the first video I saw of yours and it was so good! You looked so confident in yourself and found myself wondering how I could be like that. I'm so glad I subscribed and followed your journey!
Jade, you are such a wonderful and inspiring person! I love your personality and confidence so much, and admire how powerful and grounded you feel with yourself. 💗 thank you for making such beautiful and helpful videos, you are an inspiration to so many of us 🌈
Honestly Jade these videos feel like warm hugs🥹 . I recently moved to a different city for college, a place far, different and much bigger than my city. But inspired by you I took myself to a cute garden alone, made new friends, discovered a lovely community which has similar interests as mine🥹🫶. Can't be grateful enough to you for being you❤️
Finally I'm seeing the type of video that introduced me to your channel! Off topic but in the morning i feel so nervous that I feel like I will throw up. Something I do to cope with this is just focus on my breathing. So I agree with you when you mention how breathing releases the tension and anxiety of your body.
I have full time carers. And I struggle with my lack of independence and not being able to do stuff alone. But I’m trying to be creative in finding ways that I can do things independently. Today I managed to go for a 10 mile walk alone in the Peak District and keep safe and well. This is HUGE for me and I feel so empowered right now. This video came at a great time when I’m still on a high from realising I can be my own best friend,
I'm in a similar situation as you Jade. A former extrovert and people pleaser who was forced to come back to my hometown to reevaluate my life and plan my next steps. Mine was due to an illness that zapped my body (betterish now with medicine), but still the same circumstances nonetheless. You know what? I have learned to enjoy my Introvert phase and my Exile On (Name Removed) Street, and have really loved getting reacquainted with this person named Jason. Finding out my likes and dislikes away from a relationship or friend groups or team work enviroment . You and I will make it through this phase (as well as anyone else not quite where they wanna be) and come out better people for it, but only when the time is right.
Jade, at this point your videos, to me, feel like coming home. You have shaped my core values so much over the past few years, and I couldnt be more thankful for that! I am proud to say that I already enjoy alone time quite much, but ist is (and was) a long journey. Last tuesday I went on a big hike (in the alps, where i am for an internship atm) by myself for the first time ever, and it was beautiful❤ Sending you a biiiig hug, Hannah
Hi Jade, I absolutely love this video that you made. I personally find it so easy to be all up in my head, which makes me even more anxious than what I was, especially when it comes to school and studying for my finals in high school. Thank you so much for being so open about your struggles and helping me find better ways to cope with my own!
I've been watching your videos while I'm in the shower because I'm trying to shower again after years of not being able to because of epilepsy and its reallyyy scary!! just as I was about to get out I got to the part of the video where you asked me to breathe and omg u are so so helpful
I reallly needed this!!! I'm sorry you had to go through a relationship like that, I had one too. Nasty times but very important teachings about boundaries and how you allow others to treat you. Lots of love Jade!!!
I actually always loved your first date with your own self video where you even sang Genesis (yey!). It would always bring me a sense of peace when I needed it the most, having not gone on dates by myself that much yet in part because of the lack of really green spaces around me or even just being tooooo used to the online world but I do feel like I've grown a lot to care about myself and love myself and love being with myself!
Your videos like this helped and still helps me so much to love myself and take care of myself little more......I see that meditations are so powerful and it helps me gain more clarity.........And you're so right "NO ONE KNOWS US BETTER THAN OURSELVES".......I love these videos so much🥰🥰 Looking forward for more..... Thank you so much SIS🤗🤗
Great video! I’ve been going out by myself a lot recently, I love it. I like to write and draw, as well as just do nothing and just look at my surroundings:)
I love this Jade!! I live near Edinburgh and every week go there on my own, and I always have a lovely day!! I bring my book and my lovely classical music, and just enjoy it. I feel proud to enjoy my own company and I’m so pleased you make these lovely videos! xxx
This is so wholesome!!! Thank you for this! ❤️ I am actually doing the vipassana meditation you went to because it was so inspiring and I felt scared but ready to give myself a chance!! Thank you for putting your mind and feelings out there for us!! ❤️❤️✨
The beauty of this video, in returning my calm, my clarity and my confidence is amazing, and I always love that by the end of Jade's videos, I'm so uplifted that the outro music makes me dance ❤
I just booked a trip to Madrid for next week. I have never been anywhere on my own for longer than a day and while I am very excited to see this city and go to a ballet I am also pretty scared because I don't know what will happening. The only thing I could think about while booking was why wait? and I think that's stronger than the fear. Thank you for encouraging us to love ourselves and do things on our own.
Hi Jade! You are a wonderful human, and I always feel light and inspired after watching your videos. Do you happen to have any podcast recommendations for self care/development?
*TH-cam should ban ALL food content🤤🤤 even vegan!* _You deserve to not question your worth around others_ - Jade. I needed this. 13:01 I ha,te how most bath tubs have one side glued to a wall so you can't put the other hand out. They ought to be in the middle of the bathroom.
I think you Vegan is great. My roommate at work for the summer was Vegan. It was difficult for her to eat. She made it happen. I feel being alone solitude is blessing in disguise that people connect to be alone is bad. I made my own decision to study Chinese in Taiwan for 9 months went there by myself. Going to meet people. Nice don’t have to rely on parents 24/7 to do something independent.
Jade, your videos are reaching so many people so fast, please consider making educational videos about why a person goes vegan (animal activist) I know you know you can reach alot of people, veganism begins in our hearts not in a book, please let it grow

We love jade's solo dates it just gives such warm and cozy vibes her energy makes me feel happy!!..♡♡
This is wholesome to see. Self love truly is a must these days.

Solo dates are absolutely gorgeous !!Keep doing such videos Jade in order to remind us the beauty of it!❤❤
I spend most of my time alone, I love my own company. at school I was called a ''loner'' and mocked because I preferred being alone
So inspiring!

I had to adapt years ago to being alone and doing solo activities. It is a way for powerful growth! 😊
Jade, breathing is so important for me and my well being that I like to do it by the trees.

Cool video
You could not do so in 80s and 90s coz you had no social media to have in backdrop to not feel the lack of social interaction
🤍✨🌼🙏🏼
