    Fantastic! I don't remember ever seeing such a fall before. Again, I only got to 3 or 4 belt levels. I never did any advanced falls and it's been over 20 years. That 'feather' technique I'll keep in mind once I have moved in the spring, found a proper dojo and get back to Aikido. At 45 yrs old, impact takes its toll. lol

      +Barda Wulf I am quite young myself, but having trained Aikido for a while, even my body starts to feel the toll and desire to find a softer way to fall. I feel that actually it is a great thing to develop if we want to train long-term

    I remember taking aikido when i was a teenager and agsin in my mid 20's.
    I know it isn't the most effective form of self defence but i still enjoy watching it because it looks so good and has so many fancy throws.

    I love this series, any chance you could do a few "Aikido for dummies" videos? the kind that assume minimal to no prior knowledge and build up a knowledge base that way I guess :D

    I have seen a throw, which is almost identical to one from judo, where the nage hoists uke up across his shoulders and literally, launches his into space. The uke has to drop from the height of nage's shoulders [however high that may be]. Admittedly, its a rare technique, but if you should find yourself in this unenvable position, apart from making your peace with your God, how do you take the impact? Good luck with this one!

      +Dave Humphreys I know what you are referring to. Once, a visiting instructor (who wasn't nice at all) decided to demonstrate this technique on me without any prior notice. I ended up taking care of myself as I fell, using the same principles explained in the video, plus a few extra tricks. No pain or injury was there. Trust me - it's not about luck

      I have taken danzan rye jujitsu and we do numerous throws. You must learn to control your body in the air and learn how to land. Once you have learned the technique it becomes second nature. I have studied over 14 years and you get hurt when you land wrong.

    And now you criticize Aikido, and you sell another martial art. You are fake!.

    • @MartialArtsJourney
      @MartialArtsJourney  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Define fake? :) Or maybe you are simply offended since I critique a martial art which is part of your identity

      @@MartialArtsJourney If you like to show yourself, you must accept being criticized. If you like to talk about what you don't know, you must accept being called fake :).
