I loved the original by Denver & Domingo so much that when I was married 26 yrs ago, I had it sung at my wedding. I still believe the lyrics are the best definitive of Love that I have ever known! I had the honor of meeting John Denver on the night his daughter Jesse Belle was born in Aspen. He was indeed a national treasure!
I miss John Denver´s voice. He gave the song an air of intimacy. When singing pop song, opera singers put their powerfull voices above the melody, making it almost "invisible". Here you hear two voices above anything else. Great voices, by the way. Thanks for posting
Sorry,John Denver.
Well, but the whole thing with Denver lives frommte difference of a highly professional perfect classical Tenor Voice and a 'cooler' pop style singers voice, I guess.
Nothing beats the original with John Denver- which was recorded in the year my husband and I were married (we had an old Irish tune sung at our wedding- Enduring Young Eyes). We later saw John years later in Adelaide, absolutely wonderful. Even all these years later, still cannot believe such a beautiful soul was lost so young. This version, while I appreciate the tribute, isn't a patch on the original studio version- that was amazing and a total One Off- but I lovely way for Domingo to pay tribute to John.
In 1981 John Denver teamed up with Domingo and record this. It was meant for two different voices. This was apparently a gift John left to Domingo when John die in a plane crash in 1997. Domingo seem to make this one of his main song ... He once said by singing it...it keeps his friend John Denver memories alive.
Domingo singing in his normal range. In some moments he singing more high than Villazon. Usually, Villazon's voice is more high (he is a pure tenor, Domingo now is a baritenor), but in this song Domingo play his original part (in 80s Domingo's voice was more high) and Villazon the Denver's part (as a light baritone)
I prefer John Denver (who wrote the song) duet with Domingo Sr. .. because there was a contrast in styles..That was most of the appeal of the song .... in this version you have Placido # 1 and # 2 both singing the same style..
The art song or lieder is NOT the exclusive domain of the German, French and Italian composers and poets. America has produced some of the finest art songs ever and especially of the 20th century. Those who criticise opera singers for singing this music really do not understand the close relationship singers of opera have always had with great art songs regardless where they were written.
perfect and loved music beside two worlds : reality an dreaming like Yo raise me up 12 tenors singing and dreaming and for heaven dear sassy h write more again
Both tenors are dramatic tenors who also sing a s lyrico-sprintos. They have quite different voices and not just because Domingo is older. Their voices are focussed differently. Both are lovely singers. I hear Rolando is having voice trouble which I hope he overcomes soon.
Today this has made me very sad. I was getting married on the 1st of December .Honeymoon in Cuba for over Xmas He has left and has now gone. Some things are just not to be But Hay! its a great track.
I prefer this with John Denver. Villazon seems more concerned with perfecting the notes and loses the emotion. I love this song and would love to hear Il divo sing it.

Que lindo cantan, es lo. Máximo de lo sublime maravilloso
realmente hermoso.
Domingo is genius!!!
As far as I found out originally this is a country song.
It seems thatthis song is not for Rolando, but he is doing hus best.

Caruso, Pavarotti, Wunderlich?
omg...when placido enters....hubba hubba
wow
Bien por Villazón. Le hace el peso a mi ídolo
Nice

+Yvonne Velvick lots of love to you....love is there to comfort you...
So sorry to hear that
it is love
A tribute to JOHN DENVER .....
Good이다
Triolka haha ;p BEAUTIfuL SONG!
"mike sexton perhaps love" amazing
Duas vozes potentes para uma canção forte, ficou lindo, mas com muito maus sentimento com Denver ou Plácido Jr.
Is Mr. Bean singing?
Is someone with a total lack of classical knowledge asking?
I prefer this with John Denver. Villazon seems more concerned with perfecting the notes and loses the emotion. I love this song and would love to hear Il divo sing it.
it's missing J. Denver.
all the emotion has gone in this version of the song .... sorry but it must be the training :(
well compare it to the original where Domingo sings with John Denver... not that John Denver is a bad singer, but...
I actually like this duet better than Domingo and Denver....
haha
!m
Linda canção, música e letra! Emocionante! 🇧🇷
