Beautiful creatures everywhere and jays as your friends. That porcupine was scary big! Thanks for sharing. Makes me appreciate my suburban pond and bird animals.
Loved waking to this video, Martin. Lots of wildlife at the Cabin. Them Gorbies will come around for a free meal. Thanks for this Friend. ATB Ter God Bless
Martin, you've got the cabin looking so tidy & ship-shape. I'm particularly fond of owls, and enjoyed seeing all the rest of your forest friends up there in God's Own Kingdom! Thanks for another visit...
Beautiful video in the Great Outdoors with Gods creatures, so nice and peaceful and relaxing you sure are enjoying yourself I love it, keep on keeping on and Best of luck always and thanks for sharing your videos.
Hi Martin, loveddddd the video.I enjoy you and your cabin so much. Thank you for all the good you do.It is just lovely to watch you and follow. It brings me peace in the middle of the night. I can go along with you on your walks. Thanks again.
Always fun feeding whiskey jacks. I love hearing them following me around in the bush, waiting for me to set up camp. Great to see all those critters. Little more sparse here, now that it's winter. That poor raccoon doesn't have a tail to tell! Take care.
Martin that big Beaver weighs just a little less than you do. I have taken and dressed many of them and their anatomy and density has always amazed me. They can soak up lead like the backstop at a police academy and are incredibly strong.
hi martin. nice to wake up to. that racoon sure looked well fed. must be rich country for foragers. martin that cabin is lookin like a palace. have fun my friend. gare
Looks warm for November 10. Glad to see anew post. Never seen a double, chocolate for the girls, that’s funny! Maybe beer and brats for the boys. Thanks for another wonderful video.
Great video. I throughly enjoyed seeing all the critters. I had to LOL at the "must be two females after that dark chocolate, I will have to get the brats out to get the males" Open a cold beer and you will have them all there having a party. LOL Merry Christmas Martin. Thanks for sharing this beauty with us.
Wow! All kinds of wildlife! And you actually have the birds eating outta your hand. It looks so peaceful there, makes me want a place back in the woods a lil ways. I thought the raccoon was gonna walk right into your lap! He seemed to be pretty healthy too. I gotta remember what to use on the mouse traps, and you got 2 at once! :) Be safe and take care out in the woods.
Your vids are too cool! I was muzzle load deer hunting and took a nap on the sunny side of a small hill. Something woke me so I slowly cracked my eyelids to see two very small baby Javelina. Almost made me laugh to see them sniffing and turning their heads side to side trying to understand what they had found. Didnt want to startle them ,thinking there must be a big one or two very close as well. They turned and walked away towards a line of very large unfriendly looking group walking by in single file. I counted 19 adults. Really glad I didnt startle those little ones!
Enjoyed the critter pics but have to admit that big porky gave me the willies. Too many bad encounters with is his relatives and my dogs! The chocolate for trap bait is a great idea. The little rascals steal my peanut butter with ease. Good video!
I always keep a stash of dark chocolate around the cabin. I laugh when a visitor pokes around and finds some and lets me know later how they only took a little piece.
Martin I put peanut butter on the trigger then wrap aluminium foil around it so the mice have to bite and tug at the trigger. Never fails. Thanks for sharing.
My Grandfather used to grow peppermint around the house to keep rodent away. He said they hate the smell and in the fall, he'd harvest the mint and sprinkled it in the root cellar and basement. Just an idea to make life easier
So many times the mice get my peanut butter and do not trigger the trap. Especially if I have too many shrews in the cabin. They eat the other mice but I do not like them crawling over me at night. They call them "meat mice" for a reason.
TheNorthwoodsman1 , well gotta do what , what a gotta due , oh good luck to ya . The critters outside are very interested in your place . The porcupine likes to eat pumpkin , he is mostly a plant eater , I think .
if i was a betting man which i'm not BUT i'd say those animals know its going to be a long cold & lots of snow winter so there getting ready for them long nights & short days of winter . again as always thank you for sharing
The winter did arrive early and brutal up there. Record low temps and about a foot of snow last week. It will be a hard winter for all the wildlife if things do not moderate.
My wife spent a lot of MN time with me when we had an old farmhouse with no indoor plumbing but now with this cabin she finds it too isolated and quiet.
You can tell Rocky Raccoon has no predators...reminds me of people walking down the street with their heads in their phones rather than watching whee they're going
Use Resse's peanut butter cups for your mice and rat traps. Make sure to include some pb and some chocolate. It is the best trust me.Cooked Bacon is good for mice too, but not as good for rats.
Judging from how fast that raccoon tuned tail and ran, I doubt that "he" had ever seen a "human" there before. Hey, Martin, how are all of those mice getting inside of your cabin?
So far that is the case. Good snow on the ground up there and below 0 F this week. It means those fat reserves are already being used up an spring is a long way off.
Martin if you don’t mind sharing, how many of your original group of friends are still able to come to the cabin? Has any new friends been added to the cabin group?
No way to keep them out of an old structure like that. They can squeeze through an eighth inch slit. The new stone foundation should have slowed them down but it made no difference. Actually it is so tight now that the weasels can't get in and hunt them down any more.
I stay anywhere from 10 to 30 days at a time. If I am on my way back from a Canadian canoe trip I may stop in for just a few days. It is a 600 mile drive to the cabin so does not work for a weekend retreat.
I have a Canon sx130 that fits in my shirt pocket and shoots 720 video. I hope it keeps working because it uses AA batteries and all the new ones use recharge type batteries.
I laughed when u said hello 2 that raccoon, he wasn't expecting you to be there. Thanks for sharing Martin 👍🏼
I had to stop him before he sniffed my knee.
I never get bored with your postings. Thanks again Martin.
Good to hear I am not over doing it.
I enjoyed seeing all of the animals especially the raccoon. Thank you Martin. Nice morning coffee time today.
Fortunately I have been keeping the camera ready so I caught him coming into the cabin yard.
Really enjoyed that, I have not had a lot of bush time the past couple of years so it is nice to be able to live vicariously through your videos.
Having others get to relish in the cabin and its animals is my goal. Happy to have you walking along.
I got a good laugh at seeing you startle that raccoon. He was so engrossed in a scent he must not have noticed you at all.
Yes he go pretty close. Maybe too close but I was too busy taking the video to look away from the camera screen.
@@TheNorthwoodsman1 It didn't have a tail!
Really enjoy everything that you post for us all to watch.....thanks
Glad you like them.
Nice to see a healthy woods with critters all over the place. Thanks for posting
It is quite a place.
THANK YOU FOR ALL THESE VIDEO'S I USE TOO LIVE THIS AT ONE TIME IN THE 80'S!!!
Thanks for posting Martin. I always enjoy your videos. I liked the barred owl the best. Very healthy. They are excellent hunters.
I have had them checking out my grit station for the grouse in the past but they do not prey on it.
What a parade of critters! And they are, indeed, super-sized. Great video! Really enjoyed it. Thanks!
That raccoon had no idea you were there.. That was funny!
It did not have a clue.
Beautiful creatures everywhere and jays as your friends. That porcupine was scary big! Thanks for sharing. Makes me appreciate my suburban pond and bird animals.
A pond in the yard brings in so much wildlife, maybe no beavers but plenty to watch.
Loved waking to this video, Martin. Lots of wildlife at the Cabin. Them Gorbies will come around for a free meal. Thanks for this Friend. ATB Ter God Bless
I scheduled it for a 3:00 am release so it would be there for the morning coffees.
Martin, you've got the cabin looking so tidy & ship-shape.
I'm particularly fond of owls, and enjoyed seeing all the rest of your forest friends up there in God's Own Kingdom!
Thanks for another visit...
Thanks Dave
Thank you for another relaxing few minutes
Good too sea that the North Woods aren't void of Critters!! You have sum Healthy & Interestin' Neighbors....
Healthy this year for sure, they are ready for a long winter.
Beautiful video in the Great Outdoors with Gods creatures, so nice and peaceful and relaxing you sure are enjoying yourself I love it, keep on keeping on and Best of luck always and thanks for sharing your videos.
thanks
Great video, Martin. Thank you. My wife was fascinated with the porcupine and the raccoon. All the best.
Thanks, good views of the local friends.
Hi Martin, loveddddd the video.I enjoy you and your cabin so much. Thank you for all the good you do.It is just lovely to watch you and follow. It brings me peace in the middle of the night. I can go along with you on your walks. Thanks again.
So happy you are able to join me in these videos.
I wish I had a week there just to watch the animals. Peace and quiet. Nothing better. Granny fan
It is time well spent, especially when the critters show up.
Always fun feeding whiskey jacks. I love hearing them following me around in the bush, waiting for me to set up camp. Great to see all those critters. Little more sparse here, now that it's winter. That poor raccoon doesn't have a tail to tell! Take care.
The jays really give me a lot of company. I am glad I have a resident pair again.
Great footage Martin!!!!
Thanks, I am keeping the camera on the tripod and close by all the time now.
The beaver, raccoon and porcupine must be on steroids! They looked pretty big! Thanks Martin for sharing
It amazed me too. Good thing though as their winter has started early and cold.
Great vid, I love your channel keep the uploads coming!
I have a few more ready to go.
Martin that big Beaver weighs just a little less than you do. I have taken and dressed many of them and their anatomy and density has always amazed me. They can soak up lead like the backstop at a police academy and are incredibly strong.
I used to trap them in IL and caught some in the 50's and one big one at 73#. This one was pretty hefty but not sure what it weighs.
hi martin. nice to wake up to. that racoon sure looked well fed. must be rich country for foragers.
martin that cabin is lookin like a palace. have fun my friend. gare
It would be interesting to know what fattened up that raccoon so well.
A GREAT video Martin as always and thank you for sharing! :-)
Thanks
Looks warm for November 10. Glad to see anew post. Never seen a double, chocolate for the girls, that’s funny! Maybe beer and brats for the boys. Thanks for another wonderful video.
Not so warm up there now, the video was shot in late Sept.
I could watch your videos all day long. Thank you.
Nice to hear comments like that.
Really enjoyed this video Mr Martin. Keep doing what you do. Thanks
Great video. I throughly enjoyed seeing all the critters. I had to LOL at the

Thanks
Wonderful video one of the best! Thank you
Thanks, always a nice treat when the mammals show up.
Did that raccoon not have a tail? That was a big fat beaver... Hand feeding the birds is the greatest.
Great video, Thanks Mr. Martin.
It does not appear to have a tail, like to know the story on that one.
You're hilarious love your sense of humor
Thanks, happy the way the videos are received.
Wow! All kinds of wildlife! And you actually have the birds eating outta your hand. It looks so peaceful there, makes me want a place back in the woods a lil ways. Martin- I always "like" & appreciate your adventures. Supposed to be a "hard" winter. The good Lord has fattened them critters up for the duration...
The winter up there has a brutal start, they will need all those fat stores.
Martin you are the man!
Still having fun up there.
Thank you for the videos Martin.
Thank you for watching.
My boy Thomas loved this one!
Great, glad he liked it.
Love your videos. My neck of the woods, too.
Thanks, good country up there.
Got to love Nature! Awesome video my friend. Best regards -Yves
Thanks, its nice when all I have to do is turn the camera on.
Another great Video!! Thank you!!
You are welcome.
Very nice video! Thanks for posting!
Our pleasure!
What a beautiful owl.
Great video, thanks for posting.
You are welcome.
You are provided with much free entertainment.
It is great having the time to sit back and let these things come to me.
Nice Critters as always good job Martin!
Always nice to have some wildlife show up.
Good stuff - thanks for sharing!
Happy to share my animals and their antics.
Great wildlife footage thanks!
Glad you liked the views.

Yikes, good thing you did now awake with a SNORT!!
You're living the dream, Martin...
I am thankful for that, believe me.
I'm borrowing a lot of your ideas, although my area is not as interesting as yours...
Love your videos keep it up
Will do, thanks.
Another great video thanks
Good to hear it was well received.
Great job and keep up the good work.
Thanks
Enjoyed the critter pics but have to admit that big porky gave me the willies. Too many bad encounters with is his relatives and my dogs! The chocolate for trap bait is a great idea. The little rascals steal my peanut butter with ease. Good video!
That porcupine stopped and glared at me before I got the camera on. It set me back a few steps.
Awesome video..thank you.
You are welcome.
Thanks for sharing!
You are welcome.
Thanks, Martin! You've got them eating out of your hand, lol. I had my fix for the day, although I may have gone for that good dark chocolate. 🤤
Thanks for the tip, peanut butter is much easier to use and I can eat my own dark chocolate.
This is really enjoyable
Wonderful!
Thanks
You are so right! Those are some fat and well-fed animals! And what a beautiful barred owl! Do you have any video of his hoot?
The owl was busy hunting and not calling. A cold and early start to winter up there so all that fat will be gone by spring.
My Grandfather used to grow peppermint around the house to keep rodent away. He said they hate the smell and in the fall, he'd harvest the mint and sprinkled it in the root cellar and basement. Just an idea to make life easier
I will try anything to keep them at bay.
that's some big critters!!!! well fed this year.
It is a good thing too, I see that the area was -13 F this morning. It is going to be a long winter for them.
mother nature takes care of her critters.
enjoyed the video, think I will start from part 1 watch them again
Enjoy
Woolley raccoon . Nice wild pets , the birds . Oh Peanut Butter works in the mouse traps.
They strip a lot of bark too. I see this one about once a year and he is bigger each time.
Those barred owls can sure be noisy throughout the night. They actually catch small frogs and fish in a creek by my place.
Some amazing ruckus from them some nights.
if i was a betting man which i'm not BUT i'd say those animals know its going to be a long cold & lots of snow winter so there getting ready for them long nights & short days of winter .
again as always thank you for sharing
The winter did arrive early and brutal up there. Record low temps and about a foot of snow last week. It will be a hard winter for all the wildlife if things do not moderate.
How is the fishing around the cabin? Sure love seeing the video of the wild animals roaming the area. Take care.
It is all forest around the cabin except for the beaver ponds.
This is what I want my life to be like when I get older
Good Plan!!
You look like Paul Newman Marty! Any one ever tell you that? Thank you kindly for the videos.
No, that would be a new identity for me.
HOPE YOU HAVE A GOOD TIME THANK'S MARTIN YOU FRIEND GARY..............
Martin.. just wondering why your wife is never at the cabin? Awesome videos to watch keep em coming!!!!
My wife spent a lot of MN time with me when we had an old farmhouse with no indoor plumbing but now with this cabin she finds it too isolated and quiet.
Yea, you werent kidding. That raccoon is a fatty. I just found your channel, great content!!
Thanks for coming along. That cabin and its surrounding forests provide a lot of great content.
Amazeing how tame those birds are they really trust you
That can be a problem sometimes.
I hope it was close to dark when that raccoon was out. Great video.
It was mid-day but it seemed perfectly healthy. It may have been a need to pack on a little more fat before it slowed things down for the winter.
You can tell Rocky Raccoon has no predators...reminds me of people walking down the street with their heads in their phones rather than watching whee they're going
Those habits may have cost him that tail.
Hard to keep a mouse out, eighth inch crack and they are squeezing through.
I'll bet that owl would've love those mice
I am sure it would have. Small rodents were scarce in the woods this fall, maybe why it way hunting in the daytime.
Beaver came with its own hassock.
It was an amazing pose, I was glad to be sitting there when he came out of the water.
Leave it to Beaver show.
Those guys were huge. They mother nature feeds them very well!
And that big boy is still around and still growing. He won't even swim away when we show up now.
I think that Beaver likes being in the eye of the camera. Like a pussy cat.
Nice beaver. Thank you, I just had it stuffed.
awesome
Some bigs ones showing off this time, by spring they should be back down to size.
Do you think by the condition of the animals that it is going to be an extra cold winter?
So far that is the case. Good snow on the ground up there and below 0 F this week. It means those fat reserves are already being used up an spring is a long way off.
👍🏼
Martin if you don’t mind sharing, how many of your original group of friends are still able to come to the cabin? Has any new friends been added to the cabin group?
Two of the original four still use the cabin. One official new partner and numerous people that know they are welcome to spend some time there.
Lot better then city life bud
It sure is.
Thanks for the parade. Brian 77
Glad you watched the procession.
👍⛄⛄⛄⛄⛄💤💤💤💦💦 good video Martin nice scenery James Lane Kansas City Missouri
Thanks, it is always nice when the animals show up.
I love owls.
Winter has set in in Manitoba now,you have any snow yet?
Not here in IL but the cabin is into real winter like you. Record cold last week for the the cabin and here in IL too.
3:34 Racoon gets a bit close all is needed "Hi buddy" and it scampers away :)
When you say grit what do you mean exactly? Thanks
Think the 2 mice kill is a record.love your vlog Take care.
Probably pretty rare to have it happen, this time it happened so quick after I set the trap down and got back in my fireside chair.
How are all the mice getting in? A hole needs patched? Sorry if that is a silly question.
No way to keep them out of an old structure like that. They can squeeze through an eighth inch slit. The new stone foundation should have slowed them down but it made no difference. Actually it is so tight now that the weasels can't get in and hunt them down any more.
MARTIN HOW LONG DO YOU STAY UP THERE AT THE CABIN???
I stay anywhere from 10 to 30 days at a time. If I am on my way back from a Canadian canoe trip I may stop in for just a few days. It is a 600 mile drive to the cabin so does not work for a weekend retreat.
like it a lot
It was nice having them show up during my stay.
Did the raccoon have a tail? Or was part of it missing?
No tail on that one!
What kind of camera do you use?
I have a Canon sx130 that fits in my shirt pocket and shoots 720 video. I hope it keeps working because it uses AA batteries and all the new ones use recharge type batteries.
