    British Airways Avios is one of the most popular loyalty programs in Canada as well as globally, and yet its award redemption structure is one of the most unique in the space, which can sometimes leave first-time users feeling a little lost.
    Avios uses two separate distance-based award charts to determine how many miles are required to book a certain flight; combine that with the comprehensive Oneworld route network, and you end up with some pretty interesting sweet spots up for grabs.
    With Amex and RBC routinely offering 30% to 50% conversion bonuses to Avios on top of their usual 1:1 transfer ratios, we take a look at the best ways to maximize the value of your Avios, and I provide a step-by-step walkthrough on how you can book the many sweet spots within the program that may not appear obvious at first glance.

    Re: avios The way I look at it, when one says goodbye in Spanish, it's 'adios'. So by simply replacing the 'd' with a 'v' you would get your correct pronunciation. Hopefully, lol.

    I live in England. So far I have paid for two flights Stockholm to London and Madeira to London with Avios . It was coming back home from a round the world using budget airlines and a trip via mainland Portugal to that lovely island with Easy Jet. I am looking into going round the world using Avios. I would like to visit Central America, South America and there are some sweet stops traveling from Miami. Cathay Pacific goes to Beijing. I am keen to go to China.

    Thank you for the great video again Ricky ! Thats a beautiful room. What is the best Avios reward Airline I should search for, to fly my son in May from Amman to Perth , in Economy, One Way? Will see you in Calgary this month!

    • @PrinceofTravel

      Sounds like this will need to be at least two flights, if not three. AMM-DOH-SIN-PER or something similar on Qatar Airways / Qantas should do it. Either search and book the Qatar/Qantas parts separately, or call in and use the multi-carrier award chart to book.

    Great video , very informative , I’ve set up a British airways executive account , my age’ ing dad who’s not living with me and who won’t use the points wants to gift me 180000 avios to my account , could someone please tell me how it can be transferred to me ? Think the yearly transfer limit is under 28000 ? Can he gift me the points ? Would it cost to do that ?

    Admittedly, I had to find a BA-produced promotional video to confirm the pronunciation for myself. Yep. . . "Avvvvvios" like "adios." But by that same logic shouldn't the car rental company be pronounced like "Avvvvis?"

    I've realised how awful credit cards in the UK are. I have the Amex BA card and the sign up bonus was 5,000. Compare that to the 50,000 avios points bonus in this video.

  • @BonkersAboutAlice
    @BonkersAboutAlice 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's difficult for us Brits to earn lots of these points as sign up bonus here are terrible.

    Taxes is a bitch on British airways. Tlv to lax on American Airlines 48000 miles $50 tax. Avios was 44000 points and a rip-off $510 taxes

    FYI, Ireland not part of the British Isles

    • @PrinceofTravel
      @PrinceofTravel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe "British Isles" refers to the islands of Ireland and Great Britain collectively

    • @immikhanUK
      @immikhanUK 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PrinceofTravel What? No! Absolutely not! Great Britain refers to England, Scotland and Wales, and each country's isles. Northern Ireland is not part of Great Britain but is included within the UK, which abbreviates The United Kingdom of England, Scotland and Wales. The island of Ireland hosts Northern Ireland (part of the UK) and the Republic of Ireland, which is its own sovereign state and part of the EU (unlike the UK). It couldn't be more simple. For brevity, I'll just add that that there are British Overseas Territories like Gibraltar, which are British but not part of the UK, although Gibraltar was part of the EU unlike other British overseas territories like Jersey. Like the UK, however, Gibraltar exited the EU following Brexit.

    avios sucks, they make you jump through so many hoops any money u maybe save, u didnt, because you spent hours on youtube, customer service calls, forums, and their websites. Take it from me - don't bother, book a Ryanair flight for 20$ and be done with it.
