I just moved to England from the states and bought a TT. It’s remapped to have higher horsepower and run on more expensive fuel but with fuel prices now that was the one thing that worried me. Thank god for TH-cam because now Im going to call up remap kings and get it back to a more fuel efficient map! Thank you!
Before you do that you might be best giving a tuner like Devil Developments a ring, they will map it on a rolling road and you'll get a better tune, also the gearbox will be mapped to compliment the engine tune. I've just done a stage 2 to mine and she rips!!! Watch this th-cam.com/video/_SnX-pGjOmE/w-d-xo.html
I’d be interested to know how much these “remaps” cost. They are not really any better than the tuning boxes he was slating. The only way to do a proper remap is by a proper tuner on either a dyno or road tuning.
I do have to agree with him about the tuning boxes as they are modifying the sensor signals so it could end up causing trouble if a problem developed and the ECU can't do its job to shut things down. Yes a remap on a dyno is a more full proof way of doing it as the tuner can tune specifically for that car however installing a generic map on a new car you'll probably find the performance is as stated. I plan to do a dyno run soon to check what the actual figures are. The remap cost about £240 which I think is great value for money. We just did some 0-60 runs and with two up it's about 4.2 secs.
andy kirby don’t get me wrong I completely agree there. But by changing the map you are also modifying the levels for those inbuilt safety’s. Without a proper measuring tool like a dyno where you can hold the engine in specific conditions to optimise it then it’s always either a guess, not using its full potential or worse overusing it. Road tuning is okay but very difficult to hold that steady state. No 2 engines are the same. So while the map they write is based on what works for your make and model it’s never going to be perfect for your car. With modern cars if you run rich you kill the cat or opf. Run lean and it kills the engine.
@@altypeRR these maps have been developed on the same car on a dynamic. They are well-developed maps from good places . So having it put on by that company on your drive is no different to having it put in at a workshop . You can grt it dynod after
@@youngstayoung6633 exactly. Having it put on. But that is missing the point. No 2 engines are the same even in identical cars. A bespoke map using a rolling road is the only acceptable solution. Generic model maps are no better than the OEM manufacturers map.
Remap kings do what's called a generic map which is one they have designed and tested on the car. It's not specific to your own car but if your car is running well to start with there will be no problems. They will always check your car before they do the remap to make sure its safe to increase the power. The other option is find a company offering a custom remap which involves putting your car on a dyno (rolling road) they will tune your car whilst watching all the diagnostics and measuring power at the wheels. They can also tune your automatic gearbox to compliment the engine power increase, this option is a lot more expensive but you'll get better gains especially if you have added other engine hardware like exhaust and uprated air filter. To summarise, Remap Kings did a a great job and the power is amazing, there's been no issues running this for over a year. I will be going custom soon as I've started with other engine mods now and 400BHP is the next goal😎
Nice car! Thought it would make a bit more.My 2009 TTs mk2 8J reached 333bhp 450nm 333ftlbs on a REVO stage one 0-60mph 4.2 secs.I do have a sports exhaust and induction kit though.You can’t read a REVO map it’s password protected
torque steering wheel will apear too its to mutch power for suspension of this basic tt and TTS have another suspension for that power you will see , on high speed its dangerous coz the car will go left or right in full acceleration the suspension of audii tt basic 250 hp its enough ...
Mate make sure this company don't put a map on that over fuels over time it degenerates the catalyst and causes misfires my friend had this problem from this company
Yes, planning on converting it as it will be the last generation TT as we know it (the EV will likely be more of an SUV) meanwhile I cant buy a two seater EV unless its a self build. The twizy is still my favourite EV.
He's had it less than a week and its already being remapped! This man and his gadgets :-D

Love the TT , looks great
Gutted that your not in our local area anymore lol used to love spotting you out making videos
Which dyno did you use to measure the new BHP looks good
Downside to these type of guys is they never data log the car, so they don’t actually know how the car has responded/if it’s running as intended.
@6:50 "Detonation" OK... that doesn't sound ideal!
What was your milage when you had this done

Good points there, its definitely worth getting to a dyno if you can.

I have a vw and their remap is 20bhp down on a Revo. Also revo update the ecu software to the newest genuine Vw issue before starting too
Not a fan of these types of remaps. Aftermarket ECUs are expensive but they are great bits of kit and open up so many other options.
Interesting, could you point me in the direction of a decent aftermarket ECU please.
ECUmaster. AEM, Link G4, Emerald, Megasquirt. You will normally be able to find a recommended aftermarket ecu and loom adapter via hunting the forums.
Nice thanks👍

How much did the remap cost you?
Just used a racechip box on my one, blown away with the driving options and power. Cheers for the video and enjoy :)
it still got nothing on THE VAPOUR
A little bit different from your normal videos. Nice!
My TT from factory is 245bhp . Do you recommend these guys ? I'd love to get mine up to 300. Have you had any issues?

@@andykirby wow 400bhp.. that's amazing . Thank you for the reply, very much appreciated.
@@andykirby custom maps are still 'off the shelf' maps but just with a few minor tweaks.
Great video. Exactly what I wanted to know. 👍

Thats a stage two then.
Go steady mate!
If you change your cold intake, change your muffler to a larger size then you could easily get another 100 HP out of it.
can do many things to up the compression of an engine but the fact is itll wear it down a lot faster and need more servicing
Aah, iss not électrique??
Is it generally considered safe to add so much extra torque, just wondering if the S-Tronic can take it in long term?
S-Tronic should also have stage 1 tune and it will be fine
Just be-careful with your newly found power *Cheers*
Getting mine next week (upgrade from the Mk2) and will get it remapped after a week.
Nice, you'll love it👍🏻
Be good to see your smiles :)
Hows the car since this?
Running like a dream 👍🏻
@@andykirby Nice to hear!!
What does it do 0-60/100?
About 4 secs

Wow nice car mate.
Thanks pal!
Mate make sure this company don't put a map on that over fuels over time it degenerates the catalyst and causes misfires my friend had this problem from this company
He had to get a new catalyst and a rolling road remap to sort the problem out they could have killed he's turbo etc
Also they always are offering discounts
so the ECU is like our Government
Don't understand....no explanation Andy...??what's this episode about...???please explain??
????????????
convert it to EV + upgrade brakes for sure, more power needs more brakes for safety
You are right, The brakes are actually very strong on this car anyway. EV conversion with a Tesla motor would be epic.
Could be a Tesla next car?
ewwww
Petrol Andy? Seriously?
