Wunderfish - The Third String (Official Music Video)

Wunderfish’s “The 3rd String” is a folk-inspired instrumental electronica track that was composed around a short sample the artist discovered and recorded on a worn cassette tape during a journey through Japan. The sample features a traditional three-stringed shamisen, and is juxtaposed against modern dissonant synthesizers and robotic drum machines - most notably a Japanese Roland TR-909. The track begins with the lo-fi Japanese folk-sample behind a simple break rhythm and steadily progresses into a “traditional” bassline and four-on-the-floor beat. This movement represents a humble journey from a lush, mist-filled forest to a sprawling, chaotic urban concrete jungle. This accompanying animated music video presents this journey.
