By that time the Sierra was a 10 year old family car still. While the gtr was new and designed with speed in mind. The Sierra was designed to be cheap and take children to school. How the Sierra put up such a good fight for so long is incredible. The chassis is not bad but nothing special. It just had power.
Technically the 05 Sierra was supposed to be DQ'ed due to the little incident with a loose fire extinguisher. That gave an instant oomph to the Mobil Sierra... however there was no proof it was deliberate so Brock copped a fine.... but to much outrage he should be scrubbed out from P1. As simple as that....
@@dj17q the ARDC fined him because there was no rule against it : not in the spirit of the sport . Rouse and Eggenberger cars finished endurance races - where Dick didn’t always finish going for more power.
@@marcpaola1371 - DJR 17 lost 50 to 80hp when the impeller fan broke a few fins - that’s why ANZ 10 was catch him until a loose wheel caused an extra pit stop. 1992 the DJR car was bullet proof .
Can't wait until something similar comes back into Super Cars because the boring Ford/ Holden V8 stuff has lost me. Time for cu in restricted multi maker 4wd turbo excitement ! 😎👍
the sierras were absolutely a weapon
What a car, what a sound, what a driver and what a lap!
Probably the most difficult car to drive in the championship let alone doing 161 laps and his reaction wtf this guy legend lol
Still reckon they were a great looking race car
You got more of these vids?? Love this era of racing and love DJ and the sierras
Sure will!
Iconic!
So awesome!
Dick waited "until tomorrow" and we all saw what happened.
He (and John Bowe) won.
And easily. Led every lap. A rare feat indeed!
Dicks 92 lap is so good, he just gave it a massive send.
How relaxed was Dicky? Looks like the guy just got out of bed
Indeed, even while driving arguably the hardest car to drive of the Group A era.
What’s the water tank inside the passenger side for? Water injection?
Not 100% sure actually mate, could indeed be the water injection for the brakes.
for the intercooler ?
Ballast maybe
What a rocketship!
Best car ever!
Hey can i use this video for a side-by-side comparison of my run in GT7? Thanks!
Little did Dick know that not long after this...GODZILLA would enter the building

On this day the Rouse (05 car) driven by Brock was faster than DJR

Brock's car is not a Rouse car. While he did purchase 2 for 89. This car was built by Brock's own team for the 89 endurance races and thought 1990
@@Steveaustin007 true. 89 was the only year that Dicks sierra ran without a problem.

Peter Brock cheated using a Co2 extinguisher in the turbo. Then couldnt keep up in the race without it
Poor aussies didn't know what him them when the European cars and drivers turned up in the 80's
Hate to say it but you're right . The Commodore's were always a year behind in development. And the other Australian built cars stuck to the rule's
And how many years exactly did those Euro's actually WIN Bathurst and/or THE ATCC Series?
