Wonderful. This is some of the most profound music ever composed, it grasps you deep into your soul. I’m not religious but still no music moves me more than this. I believe that the vespers are actually Rachmaninov’s masterpiece. Wonderful performance.
Lyrics: (with english translation) Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked. Alleluia. The Lord knows the way of the righteous, and the way of the wicked will perish. Alleluia. Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice in Him with trembling. Alleluia. Blessed is he who puts his trust in Him. Alleluia. Arise, Lord, save me, my God. Alleluia. The Lord is the savior of the people of His blessing. Alleluia. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and forever more. Amen. Alleluia. Glory to You, God. A touch faster than most other versions I've heard before and times I've sung it, but I like it a lot. It has a different presence entirely at speed, especially as it builds... totally oozes worship and devotion.
Excellent work, excellent performance. If i would estimate Rahmaninov's musical talent, i would estimate it by his liturgical work and not by his piano works. There is a big difference of melody relating with his piano works and liturgical works. he is really a super talented composer.
I suppose the audio is not recorded at the time of the video shooting, right? Choral sounds like 30+ singers, video shows only 10. No mics visible in the video
Well see for yourself, I went to one of Tenebrae’s recitals and it was sounding like a full chamber, but only with 11 people. Of course this is a music video like every other music videos out there where they record in the studio and then they sing over. They have string voices.
I'm not going to comment on religious bollocks. But I just wanted to say that I know Rachmaninoff as my favourite romantic era composer. I didn't know he had ecclesiastic work as well. The composition is something I would expect from him. It's nice. It's soulful and emotionally charged. The choir of course is exceptional. Really like these guys.

Wonderful performance.
As ex-singer (Alto) - this is the best choir listening ever made!!!! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you. The music is immense on its own, but to have the sense of the words adds another dimension.
See the translation. My favorite psalmos.
Gorgeously velvety with a hint of chocolatey gorgeousness.

Aaron Brook I like it more energetic
Bravo! Absolutely magnificent!
It really does not sound like just 10 people singing.
It's because you can't see the angels who are singing.
@@search4truth616 maybe it's just acoustics in the place, a bit of echo, you know. Could be angels though, too. Who knows. I am rooting for angels.

ah, the wonders of modern technology

They have string voices.
That's just like a good professional choir sounds like ;)
Hacen todo bien 😍

Isnt there a baritone solo
No, a solo alto appears in #2, and a solo tenor in #4, #5 and #9
There is another composer who transcribed Blazhen Muzh, and it starts with a Baritone Solo, its not this one
