I haven't been to the Palms since 2001. I worked across the street from the Palms, watched it being built. Went on lunch hour. Machines were pretty loose then but Maloof owned it and he like locals. Hope you did well on your visit.
Wow, that’s a long time for not having been inside that casino! I like your story. The food court inside the Palms is up and running, and is virtually the same one since you were there in 2001. It would be interesting to see what you think of the rest of the place now, some 23 years later. Especially in terms of their video poker offerings and how their placement in the casino may differ from how they were laid out from when you used to go there. Thank you for the history, Janis. I appreciate that.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Greetings from Torrance! Holy smokes these 3 videos keep getting more and more exciting! When you can get this much free play from a machine it really is a home run. I heard Mr Skip say "What the Hell?" right after you hit the quad 10's and I almost fell out of my chair laughing! Rarely do I get a session like this, but I remember them because my right shoulder hurts for a day or two. The pain is a reminder of how much fun I had. Thanks again John! Take care sir!
Hi Paul, Yes! It was indeed a lot of fun playing with, Skip & Curtis. I just kept hitting Quads throughout the session, and by changing the denominations constantly, they just kept looking over to see what was going on and at which denomination! And, yes, sore shoulders, stiff necks, numb wrists, fingers, and kinks in all your joints and elbows are all side effects of long sessions. We’re a hardy breed, we video poker players!🤣 Greetings to your, Mom and family. Take care, Paul.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
I hope I hit big too, but what I think is most beneficial, is to keep playing through the “break-even” or “minor loss” sessions until a big hit occurs. There’s a lot of ho-hum sessions that a player must endure to reach the really big hits. Patience is the greatest virtue that a video poker player can have.😉🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Hi John, nice little machine there. I saw a video on TH-cam of a guy that followed the CEO of The Plaza around for a day. Thought you would find it interesting that the CEO said that he embraces and encourages people to video tape in his casino. So much so that he only plays copyright friendly music in the casino so videos can be posted on social media without getting dinged. The casino is also smoke free, which is awesome.
Thank you for the details in your comments regarding that CEO and his regard for those of us on TH-cam with our never ending battle with commercial music bleeding through in the background of our videos. I will watch the video and reach out to that CEO and make an effort to meet him, thank him in person and endeavor to film there. Thank you for taking the time to make this known to me. I truly appreciate your efforts and your loyal viewership. Thank you, Terry.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
One thing I like about the Palms over their sister, Yaamava, is the volume of the music is much lower. Plus the pay tables are better at Palms. Hope you meet up with the Plaza CEO, I know I will check it out.
Yes, the video poker offerings at the Palms is mikes apart better than those at Yaamavá. The music selections are close, if not, identical. Originally, the Palms music was way too loud. Players must have complained and it’s much better now. And, Yes, Yaamavá’s music is louder, but nearly as bad as the loud music at Circa which is totally unbearable. I can’t even play at Circa due to its over-the-top loudness. Thank you for commenting.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Love the back-and-forth John, soon your strategies going to pay off. Going to be in Vegas Wednesday to Sunday staying at the Venetian any chance you’re in town?
Hi Tony, I wish I could be there, but I’ve been tied-up a lot lately. As soon as I get a good feel for this year’s schedule, I’ll figure it out, send it to you, and we can try to line something up together. I’ve been wanting to meet you. Thank you for the update.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Hi, Tony! I’ve been really too busy for my own good. I got a last minute comped room at the Mirage. So, I’m in Vegas right now shooting tribute footage of the Mirage. (before it closes down permanently). All is good. I hope all is well with you. Thanks for asking! Take care, Tony.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Hi Jon. I have posted here before and been a subscriber a long while. Thank you again for all the wonderful content. I have learned so much about video poker watching you play. I was wondering....how long do you stay on a machine that just keeps you at the same amount within a few dollars of your original input amount? But never really goes one way or another. Do you set a floor or time limit for how long you swing on one machine? Just wondering....thank you again...truly fran
Hi, Fran, thank you for your loyal & steadfast support for my channel. That means a lot to me. That’s a really good question. Sometimes, I’ve been on machines a very long time and not a single quad ever shows up, and yet, the bankroll, is staying pretty even. I guess if there were a lot of royal flush combinations coming through the machine, I might stay on it quite a long while, hoping that, eventually, one of those royal flush combinations would hit. But at the same time, it can be very boring and unproductive if the session gets to be too long and not really getting anywhere. So I would probably move on from the machine if no quads are showing-up. They should occur, more or less, on average, every 423 hands. In just about every session where I’ve hit 2 straight flushes in a session, a Royal usually pops-up also in that same session, so I tend to stick around. If I’m on a session where the quads that are hitting are 4 Aces, or 2’s, 3’s, & 4’s, I’ll stay on the machine a lot longer, since the larger house money that comes with those bonus quads helps me stay long enough for a possible Royal to make an appearance. If the machine gets to be way too boring or tedious, you can leave it and come back later to it, after you’ve played on other machines. An hour should be enough time to get a feel for the “will of the machine”. If it’s not really happening, bounce around a little. Play 3 or 4 more machines for 15 minutes each, and then stay with the one that’s hitting. I’ve hit a few “surprise royals” bouncing around looking for the better playing machines. Go luck. It sounds like you’re on the right track. Thanks for your comments and continued loyalty!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

It’s good to practice on a simulator and it’s important to play on a “real” Bonus Poker pay table. The casinos know that Bonus Poker is their Achilles heel, so they adulterate and modify their Bonus Poker pay tables to essentially steal from the player while simultaneously still calling their corrupted version of the game, Bonus Poker, of which it is NOT. A true Bonus Poker pay table must pay 400 for Quad Aces, 200 for Quad 2’s, 3’s, & 4’s, 125 for Quad 5’s thru Kings, and must pay 10 coins on the 2 pair hand. If it lacks any one of these requirements, it is no longer, Bonus Poker. Bonus Poker comes with 3 different legitimate pay tables: 8/5, 7/5, & 6/5. 8/5 is the optimal pay table, 7/5 is a medium pay table (and still worthy of play) with 6/5 being the worst of the pay tables and should be avoided at all costs. If you don’t see 400, 200, 125, & 10 coin pay outs on the above mentioned hands, then it is NOT Bonus Poker. Shame on game manufacturers that produce any variety of the game that lacks the above and still call it Bonus Poker. I hope this helps. Good luck my friend. Be careful and very mindful of the “real” pay tables when you encounter this game. If it doesn’t pay 10 coins on the 2 pair hand, with the 400, 200, & 125 on the Quad hands, it AIN’t Bonus Poker and should NOT be played.😉🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
@@johnsworldofvideopoker There are bonus poker pay tables that pay 150 or 175 on all quads while still paying double on two pair.
