You have to be impressed with the confidence and poise these amazing young women had at this early stage of their careers. They were born to be Rockstars!
That strikes me too. In a way it's almost more difficult because the drums remain a throughput. If they'd changed tempo or arrangement it would make it a more separate part in the mind. But of course she does it easily. I would be still tying my shoes.
These adorable sisters were meant to play rock. We're just fortunate to be a part of the generation that will witness the greatness of The Warning. They came. They rocked. They conquered.
I believe River's Soul was inspired by Ale when she was 9 or 10yrs old. I love their young voices. So fun to see how far they have come....and excited to see how far they go in the future!
Absolutely EPIC live performance!! At the time they did this concert they were 15, 13 and 11 yo. Amazing! Besides being rock stars these sisters are smart, humble, funny and the nicest people on earth! Viva The Warning!! ⚡⚡⚡
Thanks guys, it never gets old watching these talks. It's easy to like their current work but watching these you get a feel for who they are and why their fans are so loyal.
I first saw these young ladies back in 2014 when they did the Enter Sandman cover, but this concert at TEDx is when I really fell down the rabbit hole and been there ever since.
Exterminated is key song in their early history, IMHO. It was heavier and more angry than any other originals they had done up to that point. I wish they would add that back to their setlist. I would love to hear it live these days.
They are so adorable at these ages, how can you not love them?? I had to laugh when Dany mentioned that Ale wanted to play the harp, a classically genuine moment between sisters :). And such composure in front of this audience at their young ages, no doubt instilled by the amazing support from their parents. As marvelous as these young ladies are now, I feel like they have only scratched the surface of how successful they will be. Can't wait to hear what they have in store on the new album!!
It's funny, never thought of that but as soon as I read that a couple different Heep riffs flashed through my head. I can see it. (Uriah Heep was enormous with my friends growing up.)
As I’ve heard it, these 2 songs were intended for the EP but Sandman fame, the Ellen show, prep for Berklee (Liceo show) etc, interrupted their plans so they got bumped to the LP as live versions. I don’t know when they were recorded. Before the LP I would assume or they would have just been fully produced.
It was back in the days this show happened that I came up with my closing for all my comments…. LONG LIVE THE VILLARREAL SISTERS aka THE WARNING! Later as the girls started to get a larger following I condensed it to its current…. LONG LIVE THE VILLARREAL SISTERS!
Both original songs ended up at their first album XXI´st Century Blood, Exterminated as track 12 and River soul as track 13. They are the only live sessions on the album. River Soul is a masterpiece and was cowritten by all three girls. Unbelievable and it shows their talent. Exterminated is a song that bears the typical trade marks of The Warning.
I find it much more pleasing to my ears to hear them playing with this kind of basic rig rather than with all the enhancements you hear on the more recent videos. A much more dynamic sense of who they are as musicians and less of an aural assault.
Usually I'm the same, but I find they do the 'enhancements' in a very nice and subtle way. That said, if I were hearing them every week I'd want the pared down version for sure. It's like we need the full catalog so we can hear everything once, produced, then we need the same catalog but stripped back to the raw for listening to the next 1000 times. The first part is the hook, the second, what you live with. Thankfully quite a bit of this can be achieved in their small performances or Warning Cave performances or Vlogs, but I think you make a good point in that there is a tradeoff.
They just announced today new album coming soon and 2 new songs , hell you call a dream and que mas quieres ( what else do you want ) coming next Friday
Anybody else feel like a snow day was just announced? If today is Dani day and tomorrow is Pau day and Sunday is Ale day, then all the other days are snow days. Can't wait.
This presentation got them invited to the second presentation of 2017;that everybody likes so much and disregard this one but forget that without this one there would not have been the second one. I font understand why people dont recommend both.
Great! Thank you! Qué geniales son estas hermanas! Emocionante verlas llevar ésta presentación con tanta gallardía, humildad y pasión. The Warning! Ese bajo...
I do see that, but they are listed as 'live session' and don't appear on the vinyl, so it seems like they are bonus tracks instead of part of the album. I ordered the CD, so there may be info in there to share.
A great live source for some of the EP songs is Liceo de Monterrey. It’s a show they filmed at their school as a video application for Berklee. 4 covers to showcase their skills & 6 originals (including these 2) only Take Me Down is missing. Also, the studio version of Escape the Mind has strings & totally worth a listen too
For "Take Me Down", shortly after their time at Berklee, on August 22, 2015, they performed it at the Rock & Roll Carnival to benefit MUSACK, in Hollywood, CA. There is a fan-made video worth a reaction.
in some recent interviews the three tend to be a bit squeamish about their earliest releases, but they do recognize what accomplishments they had achieved when still so young.
Great review guys! I do not know if you knew this or not but when Dany talked about being at the Burklee College of Music all 3 girls actually attended for 6 weeks. The first week was to be categorized as to where they should be slotted in (according to their skill level). Little 10 year old Ale' was in classes (and holding her own) with kids and adults in their late teens and early twenties! There is a video diary of their time at Burklee, and there visit to Harmonics (makers of the video game Rock Band) where they were surprised to have their song Free Falling put in Rock Band version IV. If you wish to see that I can provide the link.
Thank you! That's amazing. I think I have found the video diary link, but if you have the Harmonics link that would be great. We're interested in the Berklee connection since our dad taught there in the 80s, and I was there a lot just to use the rehearsal rooms for various bands in the 90s. Also toured their recording studio at the time. We are from Boston.
@@glennandadriansrocktalk video diary has both. Harmonics visit is at the end. Also, the video diary was sponsored by the Ellen Degeneres show so you will see excerpts from there along the way.
I just subscribed to your channel. I like the way you produce your content by allowing the performance to proceed without the constant interruptions and also how you guys give the performers the large portion of the screen. I’ve been around some 74 years and seen so many great artists over that time. These girls are such a great breath of fresh air in todays lack of Rock Bands. This shows them at such a young age, 11,13 and 16. Amazing how good they were at such a young age. Now 8 years later they are without question my favorite Rock Band in the World. Bar None.. Thanks for making these early TED talk videos. They really provide so much history in their development.
@@SDsailor7 I have both, and the 2 songs are only on the CD, along with Our Mistakes. The CD has 13 tracks, the LP has 10. The running track order on the CD is also slightly different than the LP. As a vinyl junkie I'm always a sucker for a good solid 10-track (5 per side) rock album and I like the flow of the LP, but the other 3 songs are awesome too!👍
Scale is important. In music of course, but also in relative size. Dany might have been somewhere around 5'2" here? Pau and Ale under 5'? Yet, they are HUGE on stage both in talent and sheer presence. It blows me away how natural and at ease they appear at their ages. Glad you took the time to react to this video.
I appreciate that you guys are going in chronological order, but somehow you completely skipped the Escape The Mind EP. As someone else mentioned, the Liceo concert contains all but one track from the EP.
There were so many hidden gems that the chronology may get a little messy - probably fix it later with a dedicated playlist - but we do plan to check that EP out with Liceo, fill in some other blanks. Might also still have some from CDMX 2022 come out in between now and again.
The best thing about watching the young ladies grow is that you're watching history in the making.
8 years later they are rockstars on the verge of world domination.
Is there any doubt that Ale was the coolest 11 year old on the planet?
Even then, she was The Thunder Girl!
None what so ever
for sure
Best brummer ever, before history and after, history. ✌🏻😎
She was the coolest nine year old on the planet too 😂⚡️⚡️⚡️
You have to be impressed with the confidence and poise these amazing young women had at this early stage of their careers. They were born to be Rockstars!
This band don't have a bad song, even in the beginning.
Always amazed at Pau singing the counterpoint vocals at the end of The Pretender while playing to the main melody.
That strikes me too. In a way it's almost more difficult because the drums remain a throughput. If they'd changed tempo or arrangement it would make it a more separate part in the mind. But of course she does it easily. I would be still tying my shoes.

Ale Doesn't get near enough credit for her bass playing and singing at the same time, especially considering she's 11 years old right here.
And that is just criminal!

Yes, that's my attraction to The Warning. They remind me so much of the bands I grew up with. Still have my Heep albums from when I was a kid.
It always makes me smile to watch Ale struggle to hold up her bass guitar. No problem now!
Yeah, she was feeling the weight of that bass 😊
Yes you can see how she developed the moves she uses today
Ale! 😎
