My favourite story about Bader is the time he visited a school to give a talk about his experiences as part of a history lesson. He said, "So there I was, three fuckers above me and one fucker below me." The teacher paled and said, "Children, the Focker was a German fighter plane" and Bader responded, "I know Ma'am, but these fuckers were in Messerschmitts."
Chill his channel is growing so fast he just started two months ago and it's a team behind the videos not the voice you hear in the video, its a paid voice actor/ commentator
This animation is so pleasing to the eye and accompanied with a great music, narrator and curious historical facts made this channel one of my favorites in no time
Also check out about Soviet pilot Aleksey Maresyev, who has been shot down in WWII and been making his way through snowy forest and swamps crawling, had gangrene and nearly died, but after double amputation he recovered and returned back to air forces, where he took down seven German aircrafts, making ten planes total. After the war he became a Ph.D. in history, wrote several books, and there was a book written about him called "The Story of a Real Man" and the opera with the same name.
"Operation leg" RAF pilot: Don't worry, I'm just dropping off a leg for a good fellow Down there *drops legs* Also the pilot: and here's a little something extra *drops bombs*
Your videos are getting better and better! I commented about how I liked your Turing video for your guys' first experimentation into a video with a slightly more serious tone, but this video is just as great. You guys are getting more and more skilled at being able to tell a story with a lot of good feels and emotions, while still able to give us a happy laugh, and it shows in every new piece of work. If only there was a way I could like every one of your videos 10 times over! Edit as an afterthought: dont worry about deadlines or such at all please, like a lot of TH-cam channels do. You're already amazing as is, just make sure you put care into your videos and have at least as much fun making them as we do watching them
Your animations are some of the highest quality I've seen in all of the military history channels out there. Really appreciate the effort put into it. Please make more military videos like this! You deserve way more attention for this awesome work.
Chill his channel is growing so fast he just started two months ago and it's a team behind the videos not the voice you hear in the video, its a paid voice actor/ commentator
Actually, the benefit seems to be minor, as the blood/size ratio remains roughly the same. However, the closer circulation around the heart may provide some benefit.
For some funky reason this channel doesn't have nearly enough subscribers. Animation quality, scripts and narrations are all on point. Keep this up folks!
This Channel dont show histories about the *HATE* of the war times; This Channel show us the *Peace* and *Love* actions during The war times... Thank you *Yarn Hub* and Remeber that all you wish can come true... Even if you think is not possible.
As a life-long advocate for disabled rights, I often use Bader as an example of how sheer determination can overcome virtually anything. In fact, Bader used his "disability" to his advantage and became a superior pilot to those with 2 legs. He should be an example to all of us for his unbridled courage and perseverance.
All your videos are just so heartwarming I just can't tell if I should cry or just feel happy for them, thank you for making such powerful wonderful videos I love them and can't wait to see more!
I remember reading his story as a teenager. It became an inspiration to me. As a teacher, I never let a student let handicaps give up dreams but helped them work around their problems to meet their goals. Now, that i'm old and retired with pain & mobility problems of my own, I apply the same skills to my own life.
Your animations are godly and your narrating deeply indulges me into your videos. Great work on all of your content! I can't wait to see more from you!
Thank you Yarnhub. It encourages me to read his book namely "Flying Colours: Epic Story of Douglas Bader By Laddie Lucas" I thought that book is common, it turn out to be a diamond. Nice Vid!
3 hours late, but IMO, it looks like a lot more better than that made by Simple History. It's simpler and even more visually appealing. Even the narration is more neat. Hell, I even heard of him. You don't always need legs to fly. You have your wing. And with his legs gone, it proved to be more a benefit to him as he no longer had to worry about blackouts, a condition where his head lacks blood, and redout, head having too much blood (exactly vice versa.) And while I am not bodily disabled yet I am quite mentally disabled, it proves that even those who don't have what or have more than others have can do remarkable things. Hell, Douglas Bader befriending an enemy... That's true respect of Adolf Galland of treating disabled people with care, even attending his funeral and visiting his spirit. I am not religious and not aetheist, but souls of unique people live on forever.
first time notice this channel when telling story about B-17 pilots with Bf-109, gonna say this is an interesting channel, you got yourself another subscriber
This video made me subscribe ......It's a pity you've had so few subscribers around.....your videos kinda uplift us from the generic mess life has been for many of us viewers and i really appreciate the effort . I read Reach For The Sky when I was a youngster and loved it! I also read Biggles a bit and remember once in WWI when he had dental work done and his doctor was complaining when he got into his plane that he shouldn't be flying and he barked back, "I don't fly with my teeth!!!" and took off! I don't remember if that was before or after Algy's Germaniums were bombed or not! ;-)
One of my favorite parts about Bader is that he joined the Commemorative Air Force out of Harlingen Texas, what was essentially a ragtag group of Texans with warbirds who put on a bunch of air shows. He learned about them during the filming of the Battle of Britain and was a surprisingly not too uncommon of a sight to see at CAF events, of course, he didn’t have to pay a fee to get in. He, Galland, and Robert Stanford Tuck were all members of the CAF, there is some old footage of the three together at Airsho 80. Hilariously enough, Prince Phillip was also a member of the CAF, the person who present Phillip with his wings and certificate was Sor Douglas Bader. Best part, there is an image out there of Bader in one of the Grey cowboy hats the CAF used to have as part of its “uniform”.
I think the RAF needed him back as there was a shortage of decent pilots, also he could pull off maneuvers other pilots couldn't without blacking out due to not having the blood run to his legs. He also helped develop the idea of the 'Big Wing' defense strategy. The idea for the dumping of the earth from the tunnel in the great escape outside came from Doug Bader and his leg then.
The quality of the animations is great! There was another WW2 fighter ace who didn't have legs, I don't remember his name though. I know that he was a Russian fighter and I'm pretty sure he flew a La-5.
In addition to Aleksey Maresyev, there was Leonid Belousov and Zakhar Sorokin from the USSR. there was also another RAF pilot by the name of Colin Hodgkinson. check them out on wiki or google.

True. Bader himself felt he could pull more g's than anyone else for that reason.
