The attack on Pearl Harbor came before any official declaration of war. Of course to the man on the ground, it's only natural to defend yourself when under attack: but from a chain of command point of view you need to be absolutely certain that any orders are valid (which they would no be as the chain of command was at the time not quick enough to respond). How they didn’t get a medal of honour for there actions on that day is beyond me. Also if anyone was wondering how the Japanese planes made it to pearl harbour it’s because initially when they were picked up on radar they were believed to be a flight of b17E’s (this flight later became part of the famous kangaroo squadron) also fun fact a famous b17 known as swamp ghost was part of this flight.

I heard about these two guys. And they were very heroic when the Japanese attacked. The two main characters in the movie Pearl Harbor were loosely based off of these two men.
Early in the video, the cat didn't jump and run at the noise of the gunfire and explosions. Little known fact, Ken Taylor was a technical advisor for the 1970 movie, "Tora Tora Tora" The actions of Ken Taylor and George Welch inspired the scene in the 2001 movie, Pearl Harbor, when Ben Afleck and Josh Hartnett's characters took off to combat the Japanese during the Pearl Harbor attack. Ken Taylor described the movie as, "A piece of trash... over-sensationalized and distorted."

I had the wonderful opportunity to see a reenactment of these two brave airmen at the hill af base airshow with the Tora Tora Tora demonstration team. It was as if I was there watching a real life dogfight in 1941. Really amazing experience.

Never thought air raid sirens can be such an affective and instant cure for hungover. Would try next time.
If that doesn't work, try low flying enemy planes and explosions 😉
@@Eyes0penNoFear So technically if you have a house near an airport you will never have a hangover😉
@@Athens69420 it's worth a try!
Better to not fly drunk or hung over. If that is not possible, damn the rules, and go get them!
I remember this. Ben Aflac was one of the pilots, but he landed without firing a shot and started yelling at the Americans that they were racists for shooting at the Japanese.
Wtf you babbling on about?
@kieranfitzgerald2030 About the time I met your mom in an alley way
Better than anything Hollywood can ever muster in 1000 years.
I respectfully disagree.
This storyline was partially fictionalized in a 2001 film- Pearl Harbour, starring Ben Affeclk and Josh Hartnett.
I just gotta say, the production value of these videos noticably improves with each video.
This is my new favorite piece that you've done, and considering how hard it is to top Finnish-NyanCat, that's saying something
Ahh, the famous "i'm never drinking again"...
What a story! All these years I thought it was a fictional story written into the movie. I’m gonna have to find out more about these 2 brave men.
everytime yarnhub makes a video it just gets better and better
this is probably the first time I've ever been early at yarnhub.
This is history
Thank you for this amazing video, Yarnhub! Pearl Harbour has a lot of fascinating story from Laundryman to this video, keep up the good work!
Welsh and Taylor are very heroic
This channel just became one of my favourites... well done👏👏👏
You guys always deliver excellent content! Thank you for making this video. You all have done a great job bringing even some lesser known stories to light and do an excellent job presenting them. I think these stories will be harder to forget and hopefully they will encourage others to look further into learning about history!
Base: *gets literally bombarded by swarms of enemies*
Dimwit officers: "We can't defend ourselves without explicit orders to do so."
What a amazing story
Thanks for relaxing me
The right men in the right place at the right time
I’m exactly in Hawaii and I’m watching this video. What a coincidence!
The starting scene animation was just what I needed after waking up, it looked beautifull
I heard about these two guys. And they were very heroic when the Japanese attacked. The two main characters in the movie Pearl Harbor were loosely based off of these two men.
Great Video , Ken Taylors son, Ken Taylor Jr. was my Commander, he retired as a General in the Alaska Air National Guard.
I Like the story when American when they fight back Japanese after pearl harbor.Such a cool air combat.Nice, and Yarnhub never disappointed the viewer
Too little, too late.
Early in the video, the cat didn't jump and run at the noise of the gunfire and explosions.
Little known fact, Ken Taylor was a technical advisor for the 1970 movie, "Tora Tora Tora"
The actions of Ken Taylor and George Welch inspired the scene in the 2001 movie, Pearl Harbor, when Ben Afleck and Josh Hartnett's characters took off to combat the Japanese during the Pearl Harbor attack. Ken Taylor described the movie as, "A piece of trash... over-sensationalized and distorted."
why all videos that include the "pearl harbor attack" combined with the newest additional designs, improvments on the motion is just so NEAT?
Another job well done Yarnhub! Thank you for preserving History. Big thumbs up!~John
This is the only TH-cam channel that I get excited about. When I see that notification on Fridays saying "Yarnhub has a new video" a huge smile crosses my face, and I'm never disappointed. Keep up the great work!
Everything fits into together so well, amazing thank you
I'm aways amazed and impressed by the bravery in these stories, as well as the quality of your animations
you guys should make a movie
its hard to imagine that one person in same career flew P40 and sabre jet
You deserve no less than 100 million subs, good job
"We did not give you the order to fight back against the enemy who is currently killing all of us." Seriously, waiting for orders during a surprise attack? Unbelievable.
LOL I am hungover. Cheers
Damn, they disobeyed orders to do what was right, true heroes
True American Heroes.
Such a good video
Can we all agree that yarnhubs dogfights are epic?
I truly appreciate your narration of these short stories . Thank you for not forgetting these historical moments!
Hi i have been watching for 2 years
I had the wonderful opportunity to see a reenactment of these two brave airmen at the hill af base airshow with the Tora Tora Tora demonstration team. It was as if I was there watching a real life dogfight in 1941. Really amazing experience.
Can you please do a video about the Filipino gurilla resistance fighters they saved my great grandfather’s life
This is a nice detailed one good merican accent too
You guys are only getting better with time!
Real men. Heck with orders. In a emergency these guys were ready and willing
Brave airmans
Great video! I loved it. " Taking off without orders" ....really !!!!
