Marvel Rivals is going to be a great time! Long as the developers keep listening to feedback & making proactive moves, I think the game has a solid chance! (also Deadlock definitely making some incredible moves as well, honestly, their ability to patch the game constantly & keep it well maintained is astonishing to me. They will update the game 5 times in one day to fix minor issues, updates nearly every day with a big one every 2 weeks is nearly unheard of nowadays)
I agree with you about Marvel Rivals. I played about 40+ hours in the closed beta. I am a former Tank Overwatch player, and the transition was pretty seamless. I am glad that NetEase is making all the characters accessible at launch and in the future. I hope the game thrives and is around for a while since I can't bring myself to play Overwatch anymore since it's just counter-picking every match, and it could be more fun being the only tank on the team. Anyway, I can't speak on Deadlock or Spectre Divide since it's different than the type of games I would play, but they still look fun.
Tbh the game offers nothing "new". They just took 5 v 5 from valorant and removed 2 players from the team and added the 2 body control system. Its a cool concept ngl. But again. 3 v 3 isnt what we want these days. Deadlock is a 6 v 6 which is very rare for pvp games.
All these big multiplayer games that fail had something fundamentally off with them. Concord was $40, bad character design, and slow movement. Overwatch 2 was Overwatch… but much worse. Spectre Divide, which has an interesting premise, is too slow, has a weird art style, and otherwise isn’t different enough from Valorant. Marvel Rivals isn’t out yet, I’d like it to be fun but we don’t know yet. Deadlock, on the other hand, is on its way to being one of THE big games of the next decade by appealing to shooter fans and MOBA fans and doing a really good job at both. I trust Valve more than any other big game studio, so IMO the game should age really well.
@@xzeraCS It's a huge step down from Overwatch 1, and OW2 has a mostly negative user score on steam. You are correct that it's far from dead, but it took a big playercount hit when they made OW2.
Nice video man! Sounds and looks super professional! Keep up the great work! One thing that might be nice to add is when you transition from speaking about one topic to another topic a visual transition might be nice touch. For example at 4:05 you jump into talking about Deadlock but visually its still you. Maybe throwing in a title card or even game-play with a 1/3 bottom slab could help visually indicate that you are transitioning to talking into the game. Still great work!!!
While I can't speak for Deadlock or Spectre, I can speak for Marvel Rivals. Here's my thoughts on it all: Marvel Rivals is a solid game and is going to have many players hopping on it the first time. It appeals to both Overwatch 1 and Overwatch 2 player bases as well as the hard-core Marvel fans. Simply because of it being Marvel, it's destined to have more and more people want to play it as time progresses. What I believe the main problem of Marvel Rivals could be is that it might not be able to hold the attention of some of its players because of it being so similar to Overwatch, which is already somewhat a juggernaut and has been around for a while already, especially if the Overwatch developers notice Marvel Rival's success and adjust to improve Overwatch. Only time will tell, though
I think deadlock is going to do great, spectre is unfortunately already not doing so hot, and Marvel Rivals will find a big player base that's more on the casual side but I don't see many players being super devoted to it.
Deadlock is truly a unique game that’s carved its own lane. It’s game that’s played like league of legends but is also a shooter. There’s also characters that are more ability focused than their shooting mechanics. The amount of builds you can create with items makes every game feel different even if it’s with the same character. I can see the game getting really big if they go multi platform which is something League never did. Something it also does best out of most games is the movement. Roll, dodge, Air Dash, Double Jump, Slide. Games nowadays don’t incorporate full range of motion. It’s a combination of PVP and PVE soo even if you might not be good, you could just farm the minions and still be productive to the team. Marvel Rivals, I think might actually be the OW killer. I’ve been trying to give OW the benefit of the doubt bc the optimization is smoother, is a little cleaner with presentation, and FPS vs Third Person but the people run the game are chasing their fandom away. OW has become more of a Point and Shoot game, turn your brain off and just shoot the head, if someone wanted to do that they would just go play COD. It’s not as ability centric as it once was, not impactful, no play making. What’s the point of having an Ultimate Ability, if you can barely kill 2 people with it (Dragon Blade, Dragon Strike, Doomfist Stomp, etc). Now, Marvel Rivals on the other hand has waaay more interesting characters with a fandom that is just happy to play them. Character kits and abilities fit those characters very well, making you feel like you are them. Ultimate Abilities are very impactful but there is counter play. Scarlet Witch Ultimate takes a year to come out but if you don’t kill or CC her, she can kill the whole team. Sometimes you don’t wanna focus on Balance too much bc people like playing strong broken character, just make the weaker ones stronger. The only thing about that is making dumb things OP like why is Hela 2 tapping people but Black Panther is weaker when he is infinitely harder to use. If there’s more skill intensive characters they should be stronger than simple Point and Shoot, it’s more earned. The Skins of the game have way more appeal to them. The game itself has more and better features than OW. I’m making soo many comparisons to OW bc they are the same type of game, very linear gameplay with a 3 tier stack of characters. Tank in Front, DPS behind that or roam, and Healers in the very Back. I think if we are talking specifically about that type of game, Marvel Rivals just does it better. It’s just waiting on some more polish in performance. Spectre Divide is cool. I think it’s a good game with a new interesting Mechanic, obviously a lot of thought went into gunplay and gameplay. I think Tactical Shooter is a very niche genre, it has a lot of players but it seems like they would rather go play the main two games. CS is like the hyper realistic one and Valorant is the wacky Ability based one. Also, I don’t think people like 3v3. People like the be on big teams. Idk the genre isn’t really my cup of tea soo it’s hard to speak on it.
