I cried when he died. After I discovered “The Harder they Come” in 1974 - I must have carved the words “Pressure Drop” into a dozen desks at my high school - he gave me as much joy as any artist. He died because of bad luck, contracted the damn plague early... so this video fills me with both happiness and pain. This is 2017, he’s no kid and listen to how wonderful he sounds, how magnetic, how filled with energy, how great his voice was at an age regarded as advanced. I saw him about 10 times, including with the original Maytals in 1977, and consider myself lucky. “Never Grow Old."
May his soul find the best next place for him to make people as happy as he did during this life on earth. I am from the Ivory Coast, and from down there in Africa, while I was a kid, this man impressed me with his voice, his sweet melodies and his energy on the stage. Thanks for sharing. ❤

I remember seeing the Rolling Stones at Ullevi in Gothenburg, Sweden, and Van Morrison was supposed to be the supporting band but had to cancel. So they replaced him with Toots and the Maytals instead! What a gig!
This reminds me of my local record joint where I used to buy reggae. Time tough was playing over the speakers and the dude running the shop hooked me up with the in the dark record and loved them ever since. Good memories of the shop sadly its not there anymore. Now its a fucking sainsburys.😭

His voice is always in tandem with the pitch and tempo so much so that he doesn't struggle when singing.He had a very clear voice. I used to walk on foot for close to 15 km in the late 90s to have Toots' music on cassettes bought.
