    I love your channel, it's by far the most informative channel for studio work. I just have one little comment on how the videos go. To me I think the best way to learn is by going through the steps from start to finish. You do that in most of your videos but your approach is to build everything first and see if it works then start shooting the videos and describe your setup piece by piece, but what I think helps more is to show us how you placed the lights in the first place because we learn from the mistakes more than what we learn from doing it right (like shooting the pen). Also I suggest that the post processing and photoshop part becomes part of the video even if it's in another video. It's nice to have organised stages for each work so we can learn from the whole process from start to finish.

    • @botvidsson
      @botvidsson  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for feedback. The problem is that the videos will be crazy long if I do it as you suggested.
      What people doesn't understand is that all the videos take extremely long time to produce, at least 3-4 days.
      My goal, for the future, is to have a manuscript and be more clear and straight to the point... or maybe not... then the channel might be boring... I don't know.

      Thanks! Sound great that you explore new areas of photography. I started out with portraits and then one day I said to myself: Now I'm going to start shoot for watch magazines and... now I do 😃 Like me, I think you have to be a bit naive and happily ignorant and just go for it.

    Great video like always and with it's own style which stands out from the crowd!! I think with a higher edge of the "pool" and a reflective paper or similar (of course water resistant) under the bottle you would have achieved a similar result without destrying the plexi and using tons of glue :-)

    • @botvidsson
      @botvidsson  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Big thanks! Do you think the reflective paper would reflect back enough light... maybe. Will test next time, thanks!
      At the same time, I wanted the bottle not to lay flat, now it's kind of "down in a hole", well well. Thanks for the tip!

    • @oliaye

      @@botvidsson Thanks for your reply. It's a good question if it'll reflect enough, maybe should be a small mirror. I'll give it a try when I find a nice profume bottle.

    How about taking a glass or plexiglass glass plate and stick a piece of black paper underneath with some tape. In the black paper you can cut a hole or a pattern or whatever you like. That way you don't have to drill or cut a hole in the plexiglass.

      @LeonKolenda 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, I just purchased a piece tempered glass, 5'x3'x3/8" from a glass shop for $20.00 US, It was a scrap piece he had around, I'm going to try using the black paper with a hole and see how that works. I'm looking for some heavy black construction paper that won't crease real easy, Nothing so far.

    • @botvidsson

      Sometimes I push the ISO because I need to freeze action, the Profoto D2 flashes have the fastest shortest flash duration on lowest power, that's why I need to push the ISO to be able to have 1/200 shutter and F8 or something like that.

    Hi Botvidsson. You work miracles with your video's. Awesome!!!!! I would like to give you and idea. You do not have to make a hole in the plexiglass. Use transparant glass or plexiglass and use black paint under. Do not paint the spot underneath the bottle. You might be amased.

    zurich again.... Martin, i got the Idea :) Industrial Fan, use a PET or Plexy glass lets say 6mm ... warm the place you need the object. then Push the object into the soft plexi. You will have either just a whole or the perfect shape to hold your object (underground) ...to fill water in not is not a problem...its still transparent and with some sprayed mask you can make the rest black ... :)

      No worries. Haha, I didn't expect a response on this, given how long it has been. In any case, when laying the perfume bottle down, with its front facing up, if you were to put that silver duct tape on the back of the bottle, the light passing through the lavender-colored perfume, would then project a lavender tint onto the duct tape on the back. However, when it hits the silver-colored tape, the silver color reflects the light back through the lavender-colored perfume and into the lens, giving it a heavily lavender-colored sheen, which overpowers the silver color and together, give it a "Lit up" appearance, or a lighted one, at the least. Not sure if I'm articulating this right, but I'm sure you know what I'm getting at.

    • @botvidsson
      @botvidsson  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, thanks for the tip. However, I think it will not be that bright and secondly I think you need a lot of power to lit up the duct tape, or have you tried it yourself? Please share! 😃

    Idea No.1 :) instead of the plexi...why not use glass spray it from one side. and scratch a whole in the needed size? (carpet knife blade). You can then always again spray it for the next shape you need...
