As much as I find a crucially integral part of the original to sing it inceasingly agressively loud as the song goes on, I do appreciate how different the feelings are that this version brings out of me :)
I always found this haunting and beautiful. Now it applies at a heart level and I'm crushed. What an apt shared pain.
I love how the distant female vocals make it feel like she shares the same doubts. That perhaps the drift isn't all natural, but because of a lack of communication between two lovers. Something new the first version didn't have :)
I prefer this version for more reasons than your growing skill as a singer. I think the more introspective and stoic vibes fits better than the, guttural, perhaps even hysterical emotions of the original. They're both absolutely beautiful, but I can imagine the lyrics being most felt by someone who's done a whole lot of pondering about their relationship and themselves, and the sadness has dulled to an ache rather than a weeping wound.
Well said - I completely agree with how the vocals sound as "accompanying" as they could be. The way they are mixed in is magical.
Not many musicians send me goosebumps. The amount of heart and soul in music creates this feeling for me. This song hits me like a catastrophe, because this is happening to me after 12 years of love,care, and effort. It breaks the very fiber of me, and makes me question what's the point anymore. I just keep trying and nothing changes.

Amazing. The most famous live version was more choleric, this one reminds me more a melancholic feeling, which is more coherent with the full lyrics. Both versions are fantastic, and i know that life will bring moments when this reimagined style will talk more with me than the original version, great work man! A piece of art! A great song for sure but years later after the first version was released you make a slower lesser version? I'm just confused as why now without an album coming out that I am aware of you release this? It lacks the emotion you sing it live or on the album. You seem bored sininging here. Still love the song and look forward to when you come close enough to NY to go see a concert.
From what i can tell with the first version it's about someone who is extremely conflicted and angry that he has to lose the one he loves, while this one he has accepted his fate and just depressed from what he need to do in his eyes, both versions are just different reactions to the same experience. There is also a possibility with the more dreamlike style of this rendition it's him reflecting on the past, hence why he seems so apathetic, he has accepted his decision but still can't fully distance himself or "drift apart" from his past relationship, that's just my interpretation tho, if you think that something about it doesn't make sense then I would be glad to know

Huge fan, but the original is so much better. Maybe shop the song out to a new artist to cover ... This song has so much poetic beauty to it, the way Cohen's hallelujah did, you just need to find your Jeff Buckley. I'm a bit of a novice songwriter myself. If I ever write something, would it be cool to email it to you?

this lack the original emotion. It does not make me want to cry. I think I hate it compared to your original recording, in opinion, it sucks. it feels like a cover.
