      If I really wanted to race I'd pay a fraction of the price of the Bentayga and just get an RS3.

    I purchased my first car (as I had always been a leaser) in March of 2016. I was very excited and proud to put my 3 small boys (1, 3, 4 at the time) in a Volvo XC90. I had done my research and saved in earnest and had no doubt I would love this vehicle. 2 years later, I have been in to the Cranston RI Tasca dealership 7 times as I write this comment. ALL of these visits have been related to recalls and software updates and NONE have been proactive/I have had to call to report and schedule and take 3 car seats out and wait to hear my fate. Mind you I work full time and my youngest is a special needs child with many appointments I need to coordinate my schedule around. Imagine the experience of having NO ONE from the Tasca dealership or from Volvo corporate get back to you when you call to seek advice and assistance? My most recent turn? There was a "known" recall on the vehicle for a sun roof sealing issue and water was pouring into the onstar console. Also, the check engine light went on (and I assumed these might be related). I was told after I dropped the car off on Monday and was given a 4 seater sedan mind you, we expect to have the car back to you within 48 hours. Yesterday they told me more likely a week--there is a transmission line that needs to be replaced. This vehicle has less than 20K miles on it. I am exhausted at the energy I have expended to get it in and out and the experience has just been TERRIBLE. Worst purchase I have ever made and worst customer experience I could ever dreamed of. Yes--Volvo is a popular "luxury" brand and Tasca is an awarded dealership but every customer experience is what maintains your status. No one at Volvo Corporate (after several emails and phone calls) nor at the Tasca dealership seems to care about my inquiries, pleas for advice and guidance on how to stop this ongoing cycle...and I just barely miss lemon law statutes on time off the road this car has spent. That said, I will NEVER stop telling my story or working to ensure other well intentioned buyers are aware of this egregious experience.

    Damn sir......
    For the first time in looking car reviews from all over TH-cam channels, I have a good feeling and satisfaction. I mean:
    1 - Camera colors feel so realistic and the movements smooth
    2 - The way you sir talk about the car, being realistic, calm and cautious in what you say.
    3 - The information given is just right. I mean, not to Mechanical Engineering-like thing.
    At least this is what I think...
    Congratulations and keep up the good work.

      Peder Hansen in that case they would buy a Model X, not this. Power and green.

    • @CinemaUnited
      @CinemaUnited 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Model X is not a car to be driven in and it's not discrete(rich people want discrete cars to be driven in daily). Interior is also not that nice of the Tesla and alot more expensive than this(atleast in Belgium). This car is 130-135000 fully loaded and the Model X 180000. And that Tesla's are green cars is another discussion. It all depends on where you live. (or the electricity, transportation is green, the battery production, etc)

    There is no delay if you put the car in AWD/POWER mode Then it feels like a 6 cylinder. But in Hybrid it is a bit sluggish but now it's a little bit better after the Polestar tune we got on our T8(it also fixed the shifting in corners it sometimes did before).

    I really like the rear, it reminds me of the Equus. I'm not sure why their sedans don't have nice rear seat features like that. I am surprised at the lack of room though. I expected tons of leg room and reclining seats like in a proper limo, but it looks cramped. Still, a good step in the right direction, let's hope they update the rear lights next since they look completely outdated.

    Fair review. I have some thoughts when I sow the title and I was glad to hear James noticed them all ... but instead V6 a silky smooth V8 will fit a lot better to chauffeur car like that and the silky smooth S-class suspension in that matter. XC90 is just amazing high end family vehicle but that's the best it can be!

      Yes this is 60000 euro less expensive in my country and the interior is better in this car. Only a shame you can't get the amber interior with aluminium inserts in the excellence. Backrow space is about the same as in the Range Rover LWB and it's lower and shorter so easier to park.

    Have to agree with you all , great review , came off as honest , meticulous and unbiased . Well done. Question , I'll be in the market around mid 2017 , I've narrowed it down to 4 .... BMW 540 .... Range Rover Sport ..... Landrover Discovery 5 and Volvo XC90 T6 AWD . Which would you recommend ? ( At present I drive the BMW 335 . prior I had the 750i , I have a medium dog now and would like to consider her too )

    • @emililorenzo3835
      @emililorenzo3835 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      John jsmit it depend from what you need to do with car. the 540 is a different car from a RR sport or xc90 or discovery. do you prefer sedans or suv? anyway, between the 3 suv's, my favourite is xc90, t6 version is great, i would choose it !!! but if you have the money to buy rr sport SVR, buy it ;) i don't like the discovery. at the end, they are all very great premium cars, for me we remain between volvo xc90 t6 and bmw 540, at this point, you must choose according to your needs about car! but hey these are my opinions, the choise is your, go to see all these cars, touch them, feel them, ask a test drive !!

    • @JonMcG
      @JonMcG 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ive never owned an SUV , however , since `I have taken up Golf and acquired a new best friend in the form of a Rotty , my needs have changed . Was shown a RangeRover and wow , very impressive , but expensive . the XC90 is close to a Mil but doable , The 540 is around the same price as the XC90 , and the LRDiscovery5 , well thats just come out and I'm very curious . You are right , at the end f the day I need to test drive them , spend some time with all 4 and have one of the best weeks test driving them (",) .

    • @emililorenzo3835
      @emililorenzo3835 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John jsmit yeah, i am sure you will take the best car according to your taste. and maybe, it would be difficult because, i repeat, they are all very great. RR is luxurios, comfortable, very well maid, same for xc90 which is simply wonderful, discovery is a great suv, i don't like it for design, but in quality is good. And the 540 is a fantastic sedan, in this segment i love s90 and ghibli, but the new 5series is very well maid, luxury, a lot of new tecnologies, a mini 7series.

      I would recommend you to buy the BMW. Better drivning pleasure and more features. The new 540 is deffinetly big and high enough unless you not gonna drive offroad with IT haha. Its air damping is Smooth and it's very comfertable on rocky roads aswell.

After a short test drive (a longer one to be booked), was the petrol engine - a four cylinder in ALL variants. It's not bad, but it certainly is not as refined as the competition in this class.

    You say there is no manual override on the transmission. I accidentally found one on my T8 by putting it into B and then continuing to shift lower. All of a sudden I think I found low gears. Only did it once, though, so I could have been hallucinating...

    • @Drivecomau

      CarAdvice.com the R design has paddle shifters, so it can definitely be manually shifted. Nevertheless, I just checked the manual, and you can definitely keep pulling the lever back and move past the B and downshift to lower gears.

    • @Drivecomau
      @Drivecomau  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes - I just did. Pulling back from B gives you a range of gears to add friction and increase charge ability.

      You can shift back when you put it on B but it's not really for chargeability it's to use the engine to brake when going down mountains. But you can't shift up without the R-design wheel.

    We have recently (FEB’19) purchased a new XC90 from Scandia Motorcars based at New delhi. Sorry to mention that I have not been satisfied with its performance at all.
    The vehicle vibrates when accelerate the car ( between 20 - 40km speed).

    Been a volvo fan for years, but sadly they keep making the same mistakes regarding engines or details. For example, this specific version which is the most expensive, why didnt it have the walnut/wood steering wheel?(black looked cheap as hell), also noted the white cables coming out of the Ipads(should be integrated, again looks cheap), waay to small engine, for this price it should be a 6 or even the old V8 used in the s80. Where is the foglights? Why only 4 seats?(mercedes S-class had the same fridge but still 5 seats). And ofcourse the full-chrome between the windows, why?(Hey guys lets make the new XC90 look identical to the porsche cayenne) Volvo has some serious work to do at their "Premium headquarters"

    It is an interesting car probably targeted for the chinese market. Maybe they won't mind the actual size of the engine. Unfortunately, Maybach sales never took off, this kind of 'chauffeur' car market doesn't seem too developed. By the way, this sells for $100,000 US dollars in North America, which is impressive considering the rear seats have the comfort of a Bentley or even Rolls Royce.

    Now please create one v8 model for us petrol heads. Am liking what volvo is doing with a 4 cylinder, imagine 8 cylinder 8 speed auto or a v6 twin turbo engine 8 speed auto.
