    That really helped. Unfortunately a couple of the wrench sizes were a little different than on your car, but I got it worked out. Thank you so much.

    No thread locker like loctite needed for inner tie rod threads to steering rack?

    I see some inner tie rod boot kits come with packets of grease. What gets greased? The ball joint?

    great Video! How do you do if you do not have that special tool? Any other way to break that nut?

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jonas, there is also CTA4014 which can come in handy. However the space is pretty tight, you _may_ be able to fit a thin wrench in there, however, you may not have the room to turn/break free the tie rod end.

    Ironically I have the exact same
    Volvo XC90 V8 Sport in titanium gray metallic. I took my vehicle in for an alignment a week ago and was told my inner tie rods are shot. Sooo I know what I’m doing soon. Lol!

      The same thing happened to this XC90! A week later we were fiming.

    I am trying to replace the outer TE on a 2016 XC90 and they are not coming out. I have tried heat, used a 3 arm puller to force it downward not luck. Because of the aluminum knuckle I am very leery to put a lot of pressure in it. Any tips on removal?

    is there a way to get the inner tie rod out without the tool? would a large ajustable wrench maybe work?

    • @richardlabarre7892
      @richardlabarre7892 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can rent tools at many autoparts stores.

      @@richardlabarre7892 i did this job weeks ago. a large wrench worked great. i have many tools, and am weary of buying "specialty" tools unless i have to. they are often overpriced junk used to do one job poorly.

    What's the consensus in replacing both inner and outer vs outer only?
    I bought a pair of outers, but haven't done the job yet. Should I buy inners too?

    • @Martinroadsguy
      @Martinroadsguy 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would go ahead and get them, especially if you can return them unused when it turns out you don't really need them. It's hard to tell if you'll really need them until the outers are off, and I'd rather have them on hand while I'm doing the job. I'm ordering inners and outers cause they're cheap enough and might as well.

      Finally doing this job now (in the middle of winter here - but at least its a mild winter!). Typical of the XC90, in making it right hand drive, they put everything in the way of simple jobs...

    Hi I have a Volvo xc 60 2011 and it has been good for me. My vehicle has 203k and it needs a converter. I can buy the the converter wholesale for a little over 1000, just not sure if I want to go that route or up grade to something newer,

      You got to realize that the most of the DIY people out here won’t even attempt to try and touch the automatic transmission. I personally wouldn’t want someone that doesn’t know the in’s and outs to do it.
