Nice little rig! I don't have to worry about the UV-K5 self-discharging. 86% battery after a few months sitting idle. Meanwhile, I'm constantly taking batteries out of a Yaesu FT70DR because it'll self-discharge within 2 weeks.
Best I have done is South Adelaide to the South East into the repeaters . S9. Was a few years back on rubber duck. Couldn't believe it. Conditions were on Extreme. 400km + Best SSB on 4 El was from Adelaide Hills to QLD . 1400km to VK4OX . 73 VK5DR
My ‘poo-sheng’ is quite deaf on 2 metres and wouldn’t do that… it’s not too bad on 70 though. Yes, Peter, there have been some good enhancement duct openings this week!
Sometimes in southern California, they get a Tropo duct that opens to Hawaii. You can stand on the beach and talk to Hawaii with an HT.
What a beautiful country Australia is!
Country yes. Government no.

Two meterDX is a waste of time here in Thailand.
