  • Growing up, Zach Lafferty spent his summers in Okoboji. While swimming and boating, Zach rarely used sunscreen. It was very common for him to return home with burns on his face and upper torso. In his early 20's, Zach also used tanning beds. A few years ago, Zach's wife noticed a few spots on his back that looked unusual. After seeing a dermatologist, one spot was diagnosed as melanoma. Zach relied on the surgical oncology team at Nebraska Medicine to treat him. To schedule an appointment with a skin cancer specialist at Nebraska Medicine, call 800.922.0000.

What's wrong here: PUTTING SUNSCREEN ON WHILE FACING THE SUN? Christ. Put it on everyday. Inside. Wait 20 minutes, put on UPF clothing, gloves and a hat, and THEN go to the beach.
