Interesting palmered pattern with a collar and a hot spot tail! I will give it a try here on the opposite end of Canada! Thinking the Brookies will like it!
Wow, just subscribed, this is a great looking fly! I’m going to tie a few in different colors and give them a try on some Erie Steelhead in a few weeks when the Pennsylvania tributaries get back into fishable conditions ofter the recent monster snow storms.
Cool pattern Rick. I just sub'd. I've seen single biot tailed flies used on the Salmon River in upstate NY, but those were very simple nymph patterns. Love those hackled UK lake patterns. Thanks!
Thanks, I'll be doing more Snatchers, Crunches, Dablers and Bumbles here in the next few months so keep an eye open for them, some great UK patterns coming.
My best combo's are Yellow or Bright Chartreuse tail with Olive green body, light olive body hackle and a Olive collar hackle, & A Yellow or Chartreuse tail with Olive body, Light olive body hackle and Orange Collar hackle
Nice pattern. I frequently wax my thread before putting the dubbing on but not for the hackle stages. What benefit do you see from doing it here? Habit or something else? Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the comments. There is a reason i use wax on my hackle, often, with the new threads (Nanosilk, GSP, Nanothread) they are made of a material that is very slick, so to make sure that the hackle does not slip out after tying in the center quill. The wax will act as a bonder, just like when I add wax to my thread at the start of most of my flies, helps hold the slick thread to the hook shank.
You can get it from Flylife Canada (flylifecanada.ca/collections/dubbing/products/dubbing?variant=36546674950296) or directly through Hends itelf (www.hendsproducts.cz/en/)

Can't see why brookies wouldn't love it, i have caught a few Brookies on lakes in BC with them.

It is a bumble style pattern.
It's funny, since you showed me these British style patterns
I always mix up Dabblers, Snatches, Cruncher and Bumbles......

Have you tried it with a hover line?
Yes I have, During the BC Loch Style Championships I used 2 lines, My intermediate and my Hover, Worked great on both Lines.
@ thank you for the reply. Into ice up post spawn on lowland trout reservoirs I like the hover. I will tie up some of your flies. All the best.
Rick where will I get the dubbing you’ve used buddy
You can get it from Flylife Canada (flylifecanada.ca/collections/dubbing/products/dubbing?variant=36546674950296)
or directly through Hends itelf (www.hendsproducts.cz/en/)
How are you fishing it?
On a Hover or Type 1 line into the weeds or shallows. Slow 6-8" long stripes, pause and then a bunch of short (2-4") stripes, pause, repeat.......
Bit like a Kate Mclaren
A little bit
It’s a Brown trout killer
