      Especially when tonya should be talked about for being the first American woman to do the triple axel. She made history with her skating and she’s mostly only known for the attack on Nancy which (in my opinion) she didn’t have any knowledge about.

    I can understand her frustration. She can't go anywhere or do anything without people bringing up the Nancy Kerrigan scandal. My personal feeling is that she had nothing to do with what her crappy ex-husband did. Tonya was a far better skater than Nancy, she had no reason to sabotage her. The irony of Tonya's ex husband doing what he did is that if he HADN'T, Tonya would have EASILY won. Instead of insuring Tonya's future, he destroyed it.

    • @rbsandstrom
      @rbsandstrom 7 ปีที่แล้ว +90

      1. "she can't go anywhere or do anything without people bringing up the Nancy Kerrigan scandal" Tonya Harding created the Nancy Kerrigan scandal, and she is now voluntarily promoting a movie about her involvement in the Nancy Kerrigan scandal. Tonya brought it up.
      2. "my personal feeling is that she had nothing to do with what her crappy ex-husband did" despite your personal feeling, well documented facts posit that Tonya had pretty much everything to do with the assault on Nancy Kerrigan.
      3. "Tonya was a far better skater than Nancy, she had no reason to sabotage her" In the 1994 olympics, following the attack, Nancy Kerrigan won the silver medal (despite being assaulted and injured). Tonya placed eighth.
      4. "The irony of Tonya's ex husband doing what he did is that if he HADN'T, Tonya would have EASILY won" Again, both women were still able to compete in the olympics following the incident, where Nancy Kerrigan won the silver medal, and Tonya placed eighth.
      My advice--don't let feelings get in the way of facts. Hollywood's version of events do not coincide with reality. Don't just take my word for it. Do your research.

    • @silvernephy
      @silvernephy 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Obviously PARTLY about the incident, but I'm not saying that the movie didn't pertain to it at all. I'm just saying she's tired of being accused at every turn. Maybe she orchestrated the attack. Maybe she didn't. But that was YEARS ago, it was handled, and I think she just wants to be done with that part of her life. It would be like if someone committed a crime (not a terrible one), served time or "paid their debt to society" and then constantly had to deal with it it being thrown in their face YEARS after the fact. There's no concrete evidence that she was or wasn't responsible. To this day, its all speculation. We'll probably never definitively know. I haven't actually seen the movie yet, but based on trailers, it almost looks comedic.

      @@erictyson5947 That's not what Nancy says. In an interview just following the Olympics in 1994, Nancy used the word "flawless" to describe her Olympic performance, and when asked whether the injury to her leg had made any difference, she replied, "No." She said that due to the injury, she had worked even harder and was in better shape than she had ever been in her life. I tried posting the link, but I don't think it went through. Just type in: "February 26, 1994 Nancy Kerrigan on her silver medal at the Winter Olympics" to view the short interview with Nancy in her own words, right on TH-cam.

      @@hollyjolly2066 Nancy said that athletes perform in pain all the time, it's part of the job. She did not say her knee didn't hurt at all. Furthermore, this doesn't matter anymore, it was 25 years ago and the outcome was Tonya getting charged with the crime she was involved in. There's nothing left to debate about it. If Tonya is still bitter all these years later that's her own problem. Nancys Olympic performance was flawless as in she didn't fall or make any mistakes, it just wasn't very graceful like she usually skates so Oksana put on the better show that year. If Nancy had been able to perform at full peak efficiency she would have won gold. Nancy knows she deserved that gold medal but didn't make a big deal about it cuz that's what someone with class does unlike Tonya Harding.

    • @hollyjolly2066
      @hollyjolly2066 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@erictyson5947 Did you read what I wrote, and did you watch the interview? It's only 2 or 3 minutes. Nancy, in her own words, said the injury to her leg made NO difference, and that she had never been in better shape in her life. So the injury did NOT hinder her performance at the Olympics, according to her, and if anything, it actually helped, as she said she had worked even harder because of it. So without that, maybe she would only have gotten bronze or not even medalled at all.

The attack happened in the early-mid 1990's, her career has been ruined by the media, and she has openly spoken about it at the relevant times. Piers was there to ask questions in order to speak pleasantly with Tonya to aid her in promoting the film, not for him to take on the role of a private investigator and pressure her for an answer unrelated to the majority of the movie. It was unprofessional in terms of the hidden agenda of it, which was to hurt her, and the tone in which it was said. Tonya was polite in her response which Piers frankly didn't deserve. Also I would like to see any evidence that she is going to make a decent amount of money for the film as I do not know.

    Honestly good for her. It’s been decades. Guilty or not, she’s not the same person as she was then. He had no right to do that

    I think it's an undisputed fact that she knew and had a hand in having Kerrigan attacked but this was years ago. The movie, the interviews and the drama being stirred up is so pointless now. Like beating a dead horse. Kerrigan loves the spotlight and so does Tonya.

      4 years later and this comment is still as stupid as it was then.

    Wtf was Pierce trying to do?? Get her to say yes I knew??? As if she hadn't been through this a million times.

    Oh no, someone asked an uncomfortable question. Boo hoo. I may not like Piers Morgan, but at least he asks tough questions. She knew about the attack and did nothing. She's a wolf in sheep's clothing, desperate to still be relevant/famous. I have WAY more respect for Nancy.

    I’m not a Tonya fan but...I have a greater sense of respect ✊🏼 toward her for ending this interview vs trying to duke it out verbally.
