Polar Explorer Icebreaker Cruise in Lapland, March 2023.

In March 2023, I took my 11-year-old on an Epic mom-and-daughter trip to France, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Estonia. Along the way, we took the Polar Explorer Icebreaker Cruise, which was fantastic!
The Polar Explorer Icebreaker cruise was a three-hour adventure into the frozen water of the Bothnian Sea in Lapland. We enjoyed watching the raw power of the vessel crushing ice, exploring the engine rooms and walking and playing on the ice. We then put on survival suits and swam in the dark, icy water. One of the workers allowed us to run back onto the ice after our swim and get close enough to touch the boat, which was lodged in the ice, before taking us up to the Bridge and allowing my daughter to sit in the captain's chair. All in all, it was the highlight of our 18-day trip. Enjoy!
