- In this Blackpool Pleasure Beach vlog Mike gives us a guide to the restraints in terms of which rides he can and can't get on as well as talking through the type of restraints some of the rides have. We also talk about the Grand National and briefly discuss how the wind impacts on the Big One.

Always love a Pleasure Beach Experience vlog. We went yesterday and got soaked. It was brilliant though. Went on Avalanche for the first time, it was waaay better than I was expecting. I thought they could have removed it when they were building Icon to give it more room, but I’m glad they didn’t.

great vid thanks again scott, i am glad it not just me who has noticed the big one is absolutely flying this year i have been riding it for 26 years and i can safely say it has never run as fast on the return leg been loving evr second of it just lately and its open more often too which is a bonus.

4:52 fun fact. There was once a kids trampoline area around early 90s, where that grass area is now. The cable cars also departed from above. Lots of great info in this vlog.

We went Wednesday and the park was rammed. Still enjoyed the day and the rare blackpool sunshine.

Each time I come to pleasure beach me and Sam Sheppard always ride National and we’ve both said how smooth it is for this year ! Such a great classic ride ! Had so many good rides on it already this season and can have a laugh too 🤣 as a wheelchair user we go round for a 2 lap special ! Not like 1 ride is enough 😂
It's by no means smooth, not at all, I do think not having to sit on wheel seats makes a difference now.

Very informative video. If I can be childish for a sec, when you have the camera filming yourself at the back of PBE, if I cover the bottom right of the screen (to block out the seat back) it looks as though you're sort of levitating along the track of your own accord ... David Blaine better watch out! :)

Love the vlogs guys 👍 cos i haven't been down the pleasure beach for a long time now. I did a visit to Alton towers in June but it just wasnt the same since the pandemic a bit of a let down with que times and terrible opening hours. Hoping to get back to blackpool sometime.

My friend hates sitting next to me on the Big Dipper because the lap bar is 10 cm above his lap because I’m waaay bigger than him

Air Race at Drayton manor expects you to be literally as thin as a piece of paper as the sensors are ridiculous even though Skyforce is the more intense ride that has a better fitting restraint I only just fitted on Air Race Because of a very strong operator
just WHY Zamperla?
It is sad when this is the case, there’s a few rides which for me (Scott) are just too tight on my shoulders or thighs so I don’t bother with them.
Was this filmed on Thursday?? I think I saw you filming on the train whilst queueing for Infusion.

Another great video! We went at the weekend and had a great day. Managed quite a few of the rides, and even got our youngest daughter (who usually hates and avoids the coasters) on The Grand National and she loved it! We went around the side and straight back into the queue for another ride haha!

Went on the third and did front row but yeah, it was weirdly smooth but I love intense woodies and still think it needs a little re-track. Definitely don't think it needs removing, it has a great history and layout.
Some of it was done over the winter, engineering have it on their to do list!

Missing the place so much. It'll be 2 years I haven't been there by the time I can get up. Mike's icon tips give me a little more confidence about getting on with my lockdown weight gain lol

Enjoyed this. I have put some timber on in lockdown and have a weird anxiety now over fitting on certain rides. Pleasure Beach no issues really, always found them very accommodating seats. If Mike was up for it I’d be keen to see him do a similar video at Towers, that is where my worries lie currently!
Problem with Towers is, I literally won’t get on anything
@@Mikeb1001 Nemesis big seat on fourth row, RMT and Rita (if it still has the extending belts) and 13 have always seemed pretty accommodating to me. Oblivion and Galactica I have no chance though at moment, even Oblivion’s larger seat is an impossible squeeze due to how the angle of the seat is. Smiler I can’t decide on whether to try with my current dimensions! I know the feeling Mike, for sure.

Love these vlogs so helpful bu just a quick question does mike yhink its easier to get on icon with the seatbelts added or without as i didnt get on when it didnt have seatbelt. So scared to try again with the seatbelt incase i need to do the walk of shame again.

Every seat has different seat belt lengths and there’s 2 serviceable trains
I'm there next week i'm hoping this time i get the guts to try the bigger coasters because i tell my self every time i'd go on them but never do

I think the big dipper is rough compare to the grand national it deffo needs a good recon on structure and tracks feels like the train comes up off the tracks and slams down every hill and slams you around corners like not advisable to go on if have bad back or something 😂🤣
Big Dipper is so much better and smoother in my opinion

@@kayta3120 Probably not much to be honest, I’ve not been to Thorpe for a while for that reason
From personal experience Im 6’7 and I can’t fit on anything at Thorpe or Alton just to tight on the shoulders when they try and push the bars down. I’m sure they have info on their sites to how restrictive their rides are.

How do you claim your vip speedy pass

Hi Guys!! What are your thoughts about the restraints on the Revolution for a 7 year old who is quit slight, we were there last week and we didn't bother in the end, even though she is tall enough and was desperately wanting to go on, just worried me a bit, I've been on it but it's been a while, thinking about coming back in October, what do you think?
You'll be able to push the restraint down tightly but they'll still have 'space' beneath the restraint. If they're tall enough and meet the height restriction then it is safe for them to ride. You can always ask the ride staff for 100% peace of mind though.
I know a few quite young kids who have been on Rev so she should be fine. Push the restraint down as far as it will go, tighten the seatbelt up once fastened and I would advise she holds on to the handles as well. It is a fairly small restraint thought and the cars are well enclosed

Why does the Nash and Big Dipper have a seatbelt and lapbar? We were fine without them for over what 60 years?
Big Dipper doesn’t have a seat belt.
Grand National has had them since 2006.

@@yourexperienceguide Its fairly new considering it operated fine without them for 70 years compared to 15 years with... Im surprised your not understanding what im saying here.... It does not need them.
@@flaw3dgenius222 2 people died through standing up on Grand National when it ran without lap bars. Times change and safety standards change

I love the pleasure beach but it's an absolute disgrace they don't accommodate to Mike on all the rides. Hopefully they sort themselves out and redo the rides for him.
At no point did we suggest this, not sure why you are suggesting it either.
Their rides are probably the most accommodating. Designing a seat that can accommodate and safely secure both a small child of 10 years old or younger, and a large adult the size of me, is no mean feat and there has to be a line somewhere in both respects
Front seat on icon I find does pinch a bit, I’m not huge but I have large thighs

I'm just glad the Dipper and Nick Streak don't have the same restraints/trains as the Nash
