- Hello and welcome to Little Blessed Nest! In this video I'll be sharing what our 1988 single wide trailer looked like when we first purchased it in 2019, as well as some clips of the renovation process.
This is a 1988 14x52 two bedroom, one bath home. With the help of our family it has been transformed into a home that we are so blessed and thankful for. I didn't have a TH-cam channel at the time this footage was taken which is why more of the renovation process wasn't recorded. This is the only footage I have from that time.

I live in a single wide too. So thankful for my home and the blessings of ownership. Your little home is lovely and you are truly blessed to have family who were willing to help with getting your home repaired and arranged for a disabled husband!
It turned out gorgeous! Congratulations. Even what feels like insurmountable obstacles, can be overcome with time and patience. I live in a mobile home too, but mine is only 12 years old and in fantastic condition. I hated it when I first moved in, but I’ve made it mine and fixed it up and now I love it. Enjoy your new home.

What a wonderful daddy you have! He put so much time in helping you have a home & also gave you the land to put it on. I lost my daddy 40 years ago at the age of 50 & I will never get over the loss. You are so very blessed! Tell him you love him every chance you get! ❤️

Amazing job! My gosh, looking at the 'before,' I was cringing and telling myself "No way." But wow, I'm glad you guys took that leap and had helpers who are handy enough to get the job done. I have not watched the more recent videos yet but I'm off to do that now!

I feel you on this project. I'm going through the same thing right now. Well, mine turned into a complete gutting to the frame since water has pretty much rotted everything. I'm finally just entering the rebuild stage from a year of gutting and clearing. Best of luck to you!

I'm doing the same. Total gut job, rewire, reinsulate, house wrap, new subfloors, new receptacles, slowly getting it done one room at a time

This came out really well. My wife and I are thinking of doing something like this in the future. We're currently looking for some land in a more rural part of the state. Once the kids are grown and out of the house, we won't need anything approaching the size home we have now. Quite frankly with as much as it costs to do anything now regarding building a home, something like this is the way to go!
You've taken the sort of mobile home that gives "trailer parks" a bad name and turned it into a beautiful home. I am quite impressed at what you were able to do with that single wide!
Well done! Four years ago I purchased a double wide, built in 1978. Learning a lot about how it wasn't maintained. Now have had all the water leaks repaired, back bathroom work being done now. Thank you for your inspiration. I cannot say I have no mortgage though. I love my location, and wasn't willing to give up on this. Thanks again
Wow. It is looking amazing! I have been given an old house that I have been hesitating on fixing but I too would like to stop paying rent. I am going to keep following your journey to gain some insight and inspiration and maybe start my own fixer upper!
You can do it! It's so worth it to not have to pay that rent. Just do it as you can and before you know it you will have a place of your own. It's also so rewarding to know that you made something beautiful from nothing. Good luck with your renovations and thanks for watching!

@@LittleBlessedNest my 1979 single wide mobile home on a foundation recently caught fire it acctually started in the attached carport and moved into the house though the window and burned inside the crawl space under the house. the entire back corner of the house buned it was all original since I moved in in 1980 the outside is wooden siding that I put on in 1988 that all burned and my shed burned down. my camero in the carport suffered a lot of damage as well my family is currently living at my friends house until I can get it fixed my wonderful neighbors have helped a lot, ferguson he was out cleaning up all the insulation yesterday
I didn't see a stove anywhere in the house, I wonder what they cook on?. Big fridge tho lol

I wish I had video of my dad helping me on my house. He passed away only a few years later at the age of 60. Cherish all the time you spend with your dad now.

What ended up being the final cost of the renovation? I have a single wide that is older and in worse conditikn that this one and I wanted to see if it was worth fixing up. Thanks you and I enjoyed your video.
Not sure on the exact total, but I estimate it to be between 10 and 12K.

I see where you put the little cabinet in the dryer spot I would seriously put it on that wall beside the pantry and that then opens up the space for when you get your dryer. The place as you have shown it looks alot nicer now. My sister back in 1999 bought a old house built in 1932 that had renters living in it for 30 yrs very heavy smokers and wehad to get TSP AND wash the walls in the dining room & Living room they went from a dark brown/yellow to a nice buttery-cream color.

pretty impressive build...enjoyed it. You'll never regret that build very low-cost....back to new. Sad it cost 2500 to move it...probably needed the axles put back on. Normally you can find people to move those for $800. to 1k.

Nice! I have a new singlewide. We tried to gut and reclaim the old one that was here but black mold and too many additions and roof lines to manage from rain. Just wanted to share that I got a bar -height table and it works awesome as a table, a bar and extra prep space for cooking. Love your little pad! Yes, love that you don't have rent anymore. Wow! You are blessed with great parents! BTW in my neck of the woods a mediocre house is $200k-$300k, so if you have no money you will now be able to survive without a $2,000/month mortgage!

Yeah his smoking didn't help, but I can guarantee you most of that smoke is from wood burner, I have one, my plaster is starting to crack on my walls from washing, but I love that wood burner.
Habitat for humanity is a great organization. I always donate to them when I have something that they can use. I see people on tv and TH-cam remodeling and they take a sledgehammer to the cabinets that are perfectly good, and could be a great addition to someone who is on a budget. It makes me feel sad that there is such little regard for something that could be reused and then ends up in the landfill.

That trailer looked pretty scary in the beginning, but you just go to show everything is possible with hard work you made it look beautiful! Good for you guys! God bless you and your family.

Make sure you wear gloves with using the TSP. I found out the hard way it ate my hands and arms up.
Me and my husband bought a fixer upper double wide on almost 5 acres. Our master bedroom was almost completely gutted, so we had to do a lot of sheetrock and insulation in there and several other rooms we had to replace water damage sheetrock or sheetrock that had holes in it. Plus we had to redo a whole bathroom that was gutted, put 6 new windows in from where they were busted out, and we had to put in new subfloor. We have done a lot since moving in , inJanuary and we still have a lot more to do. But we are paying a mortgage on it because I couldn't afford to pay 70,000 up front. We couldn't find nothing that was cheap or a piece of land , so we found this and went for it.
Well it sounds like you guys are well on your way and it will be so worth it in the end! Double wides are expensive now day, my sister looked at some recently and I couldn't believe what they were asking for them. Good luck with your renovations and thanks for watching!

Good job! I did the same thing..picked up an old single wide with addition. I gutted most of it and redid the entire thing..mostly by myself. I’m very pleased with how it turned out..and like yours, it’s still a work in progress. :)

If I was you I’d kept the wood stove it doesn’t cause the house to have all the smoke damage but they are dusty I’ve got 2 a lot of work with wood but we stay warm and helps on the power bill

I just subscribed. I have lived in many mobile homes in my life ,and it's been my dream to do what you have done. First video I saw was recent, and I just had to go back and look at the beginning. This reminds me a lot of one my husband and I used to live in, and we did a lot to it. But nowhere near what you have done. This is just so inspiring. You have shown people what can be accomplished, and to not allow their circumstances to keep them down. God bless.
