There are more than 1 ways of hero team arrangement where you can certainly defeat him, all it takes is to ensure the heroes are upgraded and equipped to the max level accordingly. Seymour isn't the only boss that stops someone's campaign for a while. There were some bosses who were being difficult in the previous chapters too, same critical issues with them.
I hope not & I wouldn't want anything more intense than that unless the reward for defeating a harder boss is accordingly high. I'd hope for a harder boss if the reward is millions of gold or something similar.
