The reason I got sooo frustrated with keto was because initially everyone said calories didn’t count and for me they really do!! I gained weight because I thought there was no limit as long as it was keto. WRONG!! At least for me. Also I’m not a sweet eater but being influenced by you tubers I started buying keto goodies like cookies. Now I’m hearing more and more people saying calories ARE important and you don’t need a ton of added fats. I found Dr Westmans approach to keto much more practical and it works for me.

Calories only don’t matter if you are eating Whole Foods and only 1-2 times a day with no snacking of any kind in between meals. Most people just don’t do that. We’ve learned now that the amount of protein you take in is more important than the calories themselves.

I was just about to quit keto because for me the calories do count. I thought I was the only one. I just had to have my gallbladder removed and since then I have gain a lot of weight. The keto was just not helping because since the surgery I can eat anything I want as much as I want. So I will look up this Dr Westman. Thank you!

It's hard to overeat whole foods with no snacks and 2 or 3 MAD. When people avoid the 'keto' processed food, they are usually successful. I personally find that I have time restrict or outright fast to get weight loss. Everyone is different. Calories matter, but ongoing calorie restriction doesn't work for most people because hunger wins out.

@@lisabell7934 Right? I've been keto for six years and even in the beginning I never fell into the "You need to eat fat" trap. Same with all the pre-packaged products. I think I am the only one on Earth that has never had MCT oil or any other expensive products those famous "youtubers" tried to sell me on. I didn't even buy erythritol until about a year in cuz I never had a sweet tooth, even back in pre-keto days. Now, part of me still really does want to try Keto Brick (can't lie about that haha)

Yes keto is amazing With intermittent fasting . Lost over 200 pounds and my diabetic 2 in remission as well as my high blood pressure . So saving money on meds in addition to less quantity of food because I am currently on Omad keto and will transition to 2 mad keto fasting when I loose my last 10 pounds . Also suffered from severe allergies as well as acid reflux so saving money on those meds that did not help much .will take your advice & purchase the powder MCT instead of liquid MCT oil for flavor and alternative to heavy cream or coconut unsweet milk. I was heavily addicted to sweets & carbs so I stayed away from keto alternatives because I could not have controlled myself even with substitution because my insulin resistance will be activated and store fat .

I have to say I was VERY confused about the fat consumption aspect of keto. I intermittent fast and I do find adding fat to my coffee definitely allows me to extend my fast. I’m going to not concentrate so much on those fat macros. I’ve been Keto for almost 4 months very successfully, it’s still a guessing game to me.
I agree I went through tons of almond flour at first, I bought coconut flour I never use. I do make a keto granola I use sparingly on my two good yogurt. It really is a learning curve!

I still use coconut oil for my coffee, but I don't use any of the other stuff. When I first started Keto, I needed to replace regular breads and milk products. Milk was the hardest thing to give up! I really disliked the keto breads, so I just learned to live without. Now, I just eat real foods, drink my Keto coffee and Bubly or La Croix water, and the occasional Keto Chow shakes. I even learned the lesson today that just because a food product is labelled Keto friendly, doesn't mean it's a good thing.

You are describing me to a “T!”… have been following Keto diet for about 18 months now and I have some of these same items on your list gathering dust in my pantry. It is a process, right?!, figuring out what works for your body, and as you said, as your palate changes…. Sorry to know how much $$$ I have gone through for us in buying these products, but have come out knowing what I can now do/use and continue on this healthier journey. We are focusing more on foods, quality meats and healthy oils. Last thing will be phasing us off of those yummy keto treats! Thank you for this video!

Hey guys, was glad to see you in my feed. I used to buy all kinds of stuff, I was really trying to find my way there for awhile. I have peanut flour. I used it once over a year ago. Mct oil and exogenous ketones sit in my pantry covered in dust. Too expensive to throw away. I wish I had a friend who was just starting keto, save someone from having to buy all this crap. Quest bars: expensive, shelf stable, I will not throw it away, nor will I ever eat them. Any of that perfect keto stuff. So unnecessary, I'd rather spend that money on better eggs and expensive cheese. It's been a food journey as well as a weight loss journey. Again, I'm so glad to see you guys, you both look great!

I have used coconut oil for years for cooking and because of it I believe the toenail fungus I had for a very long time completely disappeared. (also put it on topically) For cooking now I alternate it with ghee and avocado oil, but it depends on the taste I am looking for. The almond flour I keep on hand along with coconut flour, psyllium husk, xanthan gum etc because if I see an interesting recipe that uses them I can do it. I have a keto partner down the street and we like to make things and share them, so those things can come in handy. It looks like a lot of those items helped you to get where you are today. Thanks for your insight.

For long term storage of almond flour, keep it in your freezer. Keeping it in your pantry- it can go rancid, if not used quick enough. I make macarons (not keto) and always keep my almond flour in the freezer!

I have just about every product you mentioned, except for the dressings, I always make my own Italian dressing. Mct oil I don't use any more. I use collagen powder in my coffee. The nut flours you should keep in the freezer so they don't go stale. As for the supplements I have to disagree. Even Dr Berry recommends some like fish oil, iodine, D3, K2, etc. Now I don't know how true it is but Dr Davis of Wheat Belly says when you get over the age of 40 your body absorbs less and less vitamin D from the sun. Not only that but some people live in a not so sunny environment and need to supplement.

Carlsons lemon flavor cod liver oil is pretty good. AND......when I'm not feeling well, it gives a hefty dose of Vitamin A that is a great infection fighter-keeping me from getting sicker, healing faster!
Also, when taking a tablespoon of it, soon as the spoon leaves your mouth, wipe off your lips and have a chaser. Not bad at all....IMO.

I took Zyrtec every day even when seeing an allergist for weekly allergy shots. After about five years of shots it was time for me to stop the shots and continue the Zyrtec. In May I started Keto and in a short time I did not need the Zyrtec. I never would have thought my sinus trouble was related to what I eat! The food allergies did not show up in the testing that was done to determine what I was allergic too! I cleared my throat almost constantly. No more! Great unexpected benefits of a Keto diet!

I'm trying to stay away from all sweeteners. I'm afraid they are going to trigger me into making bad choices. I just got my first order of Keto Chow. The Premium Starter kit. Yay me! I've tried the chocolate with cream and I was very pleased that it wasn't sweet. Just very creamy. I was afraid to try them because I thought they wouldn't fill me up and make me want more sweet but the opposite is true. Very filling and satisfying. I'm 63 and take cranberry pills because a few years ago, out of the blue I started getting UTI's. Not fun!!! Ever since I've been taking cranberry and I haven't had any since so I'm kinda afraid to stop but after I'm a little farther down the road I'll try. I went through menopause about 20 years ago because of a hysterectomy. In 2013 I had a massive hair loss I believe due to the menopause and gastric bypass and stress. I tried everything for hair regrowth and finally had Great results with a quality collagen powder I put in my coffee. I stopped using it about 3 weeks ago and I've noticed a little hair coming out in the shower but I don't think it's anything to be worried about. I also take a quality (expensive) multivitamin that because of the gastric bypass I will have to continue taking but I'm ok with that. I was taking all sorts of "extra" ones that as they run out I'm not buying again. I do take magnesium at night before bed and when that runs out I'll replace it with the Keto Chow magnesium. Great video! 💖💜💖😢

I use the MCT oil when I make bulletproof coffee and it helps allow me to skip lunch at work. I haven't had any problems so far with anything that I have consumed on my Keto diet. I am on month 2 and have lost 15 pounds. I use the time that I normally used for lunch to watch TH-cam videos at work. I love my bacon that I can get a 4 pack at Costco. We had to start buying 2 packages because everyone in my house loves bacon that doesn't have any added sugar. I make the bacon in my air fryer. I pre-heat it first and select a turn reminder and just let it use the bacon selection. It comes out just a little bit fatty then I add a couple minutes keeping an eye on it and it comes out just like I like it.

Omg, I could have done this video with you! We don't use the flours almond/coconut because they don't like me, totally stopped even buying Lily's and keto approved sweeteners. I need to throw our flax seed away because no longer using it. If I can't sub it with pork rind crumbs then it doesn't get made. Ice-cream is only keto chow or carnivore. We use the PK Mct powder also. Avocado oil is only for the mayo, but lately been using tallow, or bacon grease for mayo. We no longer purchase any keto sweets and do KC made sweets or the protein custards. I do however go through the extracts for flavorings. We have really gone abt 98% carnivore. I make our own sauces so I can tweak them with even healthier choices and if any call for a sweetener, it gets left out. I have become the biggest food snob, but it keeps me accountable. We have also backed of cheeses so much, as we just feel for our journey that it's just not a much needed thing. We also have stopped buying nuts and I'm no longer making our own peanut butter...just to much of a trigger for me. Definitely don't waste our money on keto breads either...it's either Keto chow chaffles or carnivore chaffles. Also, I have removed skinny syrups out of my journey and now drink black coffee only. I also have replaced hwc with cashew milk, as hwc doesn't agree with me either. Many changes last couple of months and loving it. Snacking has also gone out the window as if I have one, then I want another and another...then find myself constantly wanting to eat..so that had to change. Thank you for this video!!

I did notice that being on keto I don't get sick nor have acid reflux. The not getting sick to me is because most sicknesses, including cancer just FEED on sugar and if you are not eating those carbs then those illnesses don't have fuel to grow. I used to get regular UTIs and haven't had one in years. It is eye-opening to be sure.

Am on my 10th day of BBBE. Mostly inspired by you and, am already coping and feeling better! I kinda have been doing Carnivore for a long time. However, I have fallen off the wagon. You mentioned in a previous vdo diet fatigue? That's what I got. I've got some Almond and Coconut flour, but not using it. Currently busy with a springclean so, am absolutely dying to throw out the coconut oil! My way of doing things have completely changed!

You are adorable!. Great video and really useful and showing people how to go from transitional keto to therapeutic keto to individualized keto, ketovore, carnivore at the end. I'm equating the last three are equated in my mind.

You simply can't buy your way to weight loss.
Because of all the hype I ended up with 4 or 5 cooking fats but when I stopped to think, I barely had need for one! I haven't been able to let go of my fav Jif extra crunchy tho I've tried. Most other items you mentioned didn't seem to help physically or psychologically so I tend to KISS!

I had a video last year showing my favorite Keto Products. It's crazy how just over this short period of time how that list would have changed so much now. Some things I don't buy any more that I do want to go back to at some point is grass-fed beef and sardines/anchovies. My pantry has so much stuff in it that I just don't use at all lol.
Nice list. Most stuff I've never used lol.
I have never used MCT Oil. I just recently bought a small bottle from PerfectKeto for the first time just to hit the amount needed for a free box of cookies lol. I don't use almond flour as much as I used to. But I do still use it - mostly just if we rarely make a fathead dough or adding a tbsp here and there. I've never been a big nut eater, so I've not had much of an issue with those luckily. Never tried cod liver oil. I don't think I've had a salad dressing on Keto either except when I made my own thousand island for a burger or made my own Cesaer. But, I don't really eat lettuce lol. I've never eaten a lot of coconut oil either. I think I've used a couple small jars. I used to use it to fry in, but I also don't fry much. And I don't use coconut oil a lot when I gry now either. I don't care for flaxseed either. I tried the crackers once but I didn't like them at all. Haven't bought flaxseed since then. I bought 1 unsweetened chocolate bar. Just 1. But Lily's existed when I started keto. Never bought just liquid monkfruit either, didn't care that much for the taste by itself. The only vitamins/supplements I use are the ones for my Scleroderma (such as inflammation). I have D3, Turmeric, Biotin. The only pills I've ever really used in 18 months is ibprofin occationally for a headache when salt doesn't work, which is rare.

Some of the things you named I have never bought since being on keto and some you named, just like you I felt I was paying too much and really couldn't tell any benefits from them like MTC oil. I was using coconut oil and still have some, but I use a lot more butter than I use coconut oil. The last one you named however I had to really think about. Cold medication. I never thought about keto making you have less colds, but you must be right. I've been on Keto 2 years and other than the occasional sniffle, I haven't had an actually cold.

all these "dry ingredients" that I purchased thinking I was gonna bake and cook---and I found that now that my body is adapted to the OMAD and the meat/fat/proteins that I love---I find that those are the things I now crave...so no real need for the rest---also kicked weekly migraines that required mass quantities of Advil and GERD that required Nexium and Arthritis that also required Advil---kicked it all to the curb! yeah Keto! good video 2KK!

I love not having a cold or the flu every year. I haven't been sick since 2018, when I started to lose weight. Though I do still like to have some melatonin in case of a difficult time falling asleep. And anti-diarrhea and laxatives are still and occasional use product.
But I don't even need the sensitive tooth paste anymore. Woo Hoo. Hated that pain.😁😁😁
