We will be looking for a small EV next year, I like the dolphin but newer and cheaper cars are coming out, so this car , Citroen C3 and the new fiat are top of our list.
Citroen have approached the C3 in the exact way Dacia have with the spring. We will have to wait and see but likely both cars will get around 3 stars when tested. You’re describing the 1st generation spring.
I’m interested but over the last 4 years l have tried to arrange a test drive in a normal ICE powered Dacia car twice but each time the “salesperson” has only been interested in selling me a car from their part exchange lot at the rear of their showroom. Does this mean that Dacia dealers actually want to sell these!
Don't worry, I saw you couldn't get your Vehicle To Load tool back out! I like this vehicle because I think it's priced right. Most vehicles are to me, overpriced, although I'm not an electric car fan myself.
The Spring is intended primarily for cheap commuting. It is a small car, being narrower than a Fiat 500. It will serve it's intended design brief well, but just don't expect miracles from it.....
I like Dacia but I have questions. What current EV doesn't have AC charging, why is the VTL plug not a UK 3 pin socket & why is there rear seats at all when you describe it as a 2 seater? Dacia UK's own website states, "4 full sized seats for all your passengers."
It isn’t that any cars do not have AC charging, I was referring to most micro cars like the Citroen Ami do not have DC charging. The whole car is European car as a chance for people to take a closer look before the RHD models arrive, then they will be three pin. I am talking about there being 2 seats and not 3 in the back.
@@ross539reviews She said it's a 2 seater & the back would probably not be used. That's either misrepresentation by the lady giving the review ir by the UK Dacia main site
@johnbanksreviews Reasonable response if they were in the same class, given that Ami is a micro 2 seater without heating even, it's hardly a competitor is it.
@@chrisw3771 to me the car looked a 4 seater so I'm assuming she didn't make it clear that in the rear there are 2 seats instead of the usual 3. She did say it was a 2 seater so I think she needs to be clearer in future
Tish, did I hear right AC charging of only 2.3kWh? I would imagine this car will be used mostly on a home charger, with EV tariffs only usually available for 4-6 hours, so you won’t be able to 80%!
The price is OK but now put a 60 kWhr LFPO4 battery in it (or 90kWhr NCM/NCA battery), sufficient power to move the shit-box to 120 mph with an acceleration of 9-10 secs to 100kmph. Oh, yes, same price.
Hmmm looks nice but the range is too small, and electric is not really the future! The future will be hydrogen cars not electric! And in the winter your range will be under 100 miles due to the colder weather! With electric. I can’t see many of these cars selling.
You'll be on here in 20 years time saying the same thing. Hydrogen is dead for cars and heating, efuels and synthetic fuel is a distraction that will never go mainstream. EV is the only game in town for the future.
Cheap and cheerful is exactly what an appliance should be. But the entry level is only 45bhp and the more powerful a barely useable 65bhp. She failed to mention those awkward numbers 😂 And another she failed to mention was the 1 star NCAP rating.
Please bare in mind that the Spring tows the line between micro-car and passenger-vehicle. Whilst it’s slower than many road cars, it’s much quicker than cars like the Citroen Ami with only with its low power and limited top speed. This latest version of the Spring has not been tested by Euro NCAP and therefore it inherits the one-star safety rating of the pre-facelift model that was available in Europe previously. This latest version packs lane-keeping assistance, speed-limit recognition, a driver attention alert system and autonomous emergency braking (AEB). If you want to jump through NCAP hoops, this car would be £10,000 more. The spring is much safer than 90% of cars on the roads 5 years ago.
I own the cousin of this Dacia Spring. It's similar except that this Dacia is a power source and has more tech. I'm not going back to ICE though I might buy hybrids for larger vehicles
what’s not clear with the NCAP rating is whether this is because of driver assistance aids or crash test results (of the first series Spring). Personally I don’t care about “driver assistance aids” but I am interested in the vehicle’s collision scores - how did the series one perform?
Well if the new Scenic by Renault is anything to go by you and if Dacia have been clever you might just be right. They might get 145 or 150 miles of range instead.
@@lucasroper46if you accelerate properly, and drive safely much bellow the allowed speed limit, with no AC, without any other... heavy weight wallet as such.
We are looking forward to real world testing it but I think you’ll be surprised with the car being so light, it will be very efficient. Many journalists achieved in access of 6mpwh which would actually equate to more than 140 in some instances. It’s all down to the way you drive it.
Clear and well put together presentation

Citroen C3 is an actual car. Spring is a 4k (not the resolution) dongfeng, 1 euro ncap star. 😂
I had the Mini Cooper EV, which was around this price second hand, and it was really fun to drive, very quick and felt luxery inside.

Thanks for a great, super-clear explanation about a very promising little car!
Glad you liked it!
that charging cable storage “accessory” under the bonnet should be standard! And why is this “first UK dealer showroom” car l/hand drive?
I think the RHD aren’t quite ready yet but they wanted to give people the opportunity to come and see them. So released some LHD first ☺️
I enjoyed watching the video, I will look forward to watching your video review soon 😊

Why wouldn’t you not consider a nearly new Renault Zoe better range warranty and come with rapid charge options
Also more room for rear passengers
White instrument binnacle looks awful! Surely it will reflect badly off the windscreen too?
