Thank you Kay. I needed this. I am not a bad person because I eat fast food too much; I am a good person regardless of my size. Thank you so much I really needed this today
Thank you that was amazing and we are all guilty of negative talk to ourselves. I always felt bad when I would pick up one of my kids and a mom would apologized because her house was a little messy. It made me feel bad that she felt she needed to. So thank you.🙏❤️
There's actually a very interesting history of morality being tied to a clean home that dates back to the Victorian era and mental health studies from that time period in the US and UK. It seems like the idea never fully vanished.
"You're being your own bully." Wow! Good stuff, oh and, . . . YOU're awesome!! (from your not ex-boyfriend, but rather, entertained subscriber in Oklahoma with TWO dogs, a house, and a couple kids) LOL!!!
2024 Kay, I am here for you!! Opening up about the TH-camr grind, the content creation grind, the truth. Don’t get me wrong, Kay. I live for your organizing vlogging, Clover. All of it. Your mom’s pantry reorg! Your move to your new place, your old place, your old new place. Brave! Leading with love. Do we need color coded tea bags in our pantry. Pantry porn. Really? Why do we tie this to our self worth?!?! This is getting into my (everyone’s) deep stuff. You are so courageous and beautiful and I’m so grateful. This is the beautiful message that my soul needed today. Many sincere thanks 🙏🏼
Love this! So often we are hardest on ourselves. I literally put up a sign for a while that read "If I were my friend, I would..." because there's no way I'd ever be as mean, hard on, or unkind to a friend. If you've not seen or heard of KC Davis, she has a whole work around care tasks being morally neutral. You might like her.
I coined it practicalism. Its okay to have an area with things you love. Its okay to have other areas with just what you use. Let your space tell you how to find that balance.
Thank you for this. I'm saving it so I can watch it again and again because even though I know all this, it doesn't stick in my head :( Cleaning is morally neutral (as K.C. Davis says all the time)
Well said. I'm realizing that i have a rather nasty inner bully in my head. I think unworthiness either causes it or certaintlu contribute to it One thing about being neutral is to also be neutral in regards to time, meaning don't dwell on the past (it cause a continuous state of guilt, sadness, etc) or dwell on the future (causing a continuous state of worry. ) . Maybe try focusing on the enjoyment of singing instead of whether or not you just made a mistake.
PREACH woman! This is so, so true. What the heck teaches us to get down on ourselves so much? It really crosses a line way past "humility" or whatever people think they're doing. ❤ Love this, Kay! You? ...ARE AWESOME!
The complete game changer for me taking care of my house was understanding that organization is not one an done. I don’t have issues anymore- I used to kill myself over everything being completely organized. ❤
I used to be an obsessive emaculate cleaner , but now that I am getting older , I do the basic cleaning . Life is too short to spend all your precious time cleaning for hours 😊
Yes we are all too hard on ourselves. My home is “good enough.” It’s never 100% clean and perfectly organized but everything functions as we need it to and I have some art and decor that I enjoy. I declutter as I go and donate things we don’t need anymore. I’m trying not to accumulate so much that I leave a lot for my kids to deal with later on. I do a bit every day. 🧡🐦😊
We are our own worst enemy , we probably talk worse to ourselves than anyone else could , I’m so bad at this , I even apologise when someone else stands on my foot or walk into me with out an apology but I say to them sorry x
Same! I’ve started calling myself out (out loud)when I notice it. Wouldn’t it be hysterical to call them out too? I doubt I will ever get to that point and probably don’t even want to, but this morning it makes me chuckle to think about it.
I’ve got news. Even if you are retired you have these issues. When I was younger and worked 5-6-7 days a week I simply didn’t have the time. Now that I am older I have medical issues and have diminishing energy. We are all more alike than not.
Oh I needed this! Thank you! I feel like this applies to so many areas of life. We are sooooo good at beating ourselves up, but is that even the reality? We are human! Sometimes our voices crack or we have a messy house, but it doesn't make us terrible.
Thank you for your insights and encouragement. Not that I would ever wish for anyone to feel badly about themselves but it feels comforting to me, and I think to most people, to know we’re not alone. Bless you for blessing so many.
Thank you thank you for this video! It's an important reminder to us all, but especially at this point in my life. Also an reminder to myself that I should really go out there and find a choir again, even if it's really scary. Thank you again from one soprano to another. ❤
Do it!! There is a choir out there for you! The bully in my head is truly shocked that showing up, working hard, being kind and doing your best IS enough!
I am a traveling nurse. Every time someone says this to me I just want to yell, this is your house. If you want to live in a space where you need to apologize to visitors for not having a chair they can sit in or a corner at a table, then that’s your choice. People will tell they are cleaning/moving when clearly that is not the case. I know some people may have an issue preventing them from doing things but most of my meetings are with able bodies people who just find the need or desire to clean up.
You have helped me today and I want to say something that may help you. You are an artist and when you get beyond technical ability, range, volume, enunciation, etc., every single criticism by yourself or others is 100% subjective. Subjective means it is just an opinion and you can accept or reject that as you please. Thanks for a great channel.
I'm new to your fabulous channel and kudos galore on your videos!!! You are so watchable and so listenable to and I adore your excitement and passion for your life!!! Quick question, please: after looking high and low I am now asking you directly where you found those super-lightweight pastel-colored open-topped boxes you carry around your apartment to move items from one room to another. They look like the perfect things! Congratulations and kudos, again, and bravissima for all you've accomplished on TH-cam and in your beautiful life. XOXOXOXOXOXOX!!!
Off topic, but is that a bulbasaur in your cabinet? ❤ So cute lol. I've recently found your channel from the Clutterbug podcast and I love your videos!
Say it a little louder for the folks hiding behind the piles of things: You're Still Awesome ❤
One of my favorite quotes- “You will never speak to anyone more than yourself in your head, be kind to yourself.”
Minimalism is an aesthetic preference, not a moral virtue.
Thank you for your affirmation.
You said SO many valuable things in this video. Thanks for the reminder that we're all just human. 💕
Thanks for yelling at us lol. It's good to be reminded that we're awesome every once in awhile. You are too.
Thank you Kay. I needed this. I am not a bad person because I eat fast food too much; I am a good person regardless of my size. Thank you so much I really needed this today
your face at 9:50 please make some merch with a quote and subsequent 9:51 pointing one too :)
This is brilliant thank you
Oh so true. In the end it doesn’t help motivate us to get back up again when we talk badly to ourselves.
THIS. So much this - I KNOW this but really needed to hear it today!!! Thank you so much!!! ❤
Yes,say it louder. You are still a great person. Thanks, Kay! See you next time.
Thank you for this!!!

This video was a whole sermon. Amen and thank you!

I just don't invite anyone over, problem solved. 🤣
I coined it practicalism. Its okay to have an area with things you love. Its okay to have other areas with just what you use. Let your space tell you how to find that balance.
Can I just say I love you? I needed this. This was like an amazing therapy session.
Thanks!
Thank you so much!
Thanks for that talk needed it
💯 about the social media . I feel it presents a false sense because one life and home are not perfect.
Thank you for this. I'm saving it so I can watch it again and again because even though I know all this, it doesn't stick in my head :(

This is such a lovely, kind and positive video - thank you so much Kay! We definitely need to learn to give ourselves a bit of grace ❤
Thank you.

❤ Love this, Kay! You? ...ARE AWESOME!
Thank you! I came here because I’m having a party tomorrow and I was already apologizing for my home in my mind.
"Stop it. You're fabulous."
Thank you for reminding me! I often say really mean things to myself and then realize I would not tolerate that from anyone else. We're all awesome!
The complete game changer for me taking care of my house was understanding that organization is not one an done. I don’t have issues anymore- I used to kill myself over everything being completely organized. ❤

Thank you.❤❤❤❤
Most please🙏🏾
Truth spoken here. Now all I want is a Twinkie.
I needed to hear this. Thank you!
What good advice! Getting from negative to neutral sounds like it will really help
I will spend some time cherishing this advice, Kay. Thank you! ❤
Bravo 🙌. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️
Thank you! This was good to hear. 😊😊❤❤

Thank you for these words of encouragement.......We will stop beating ourselves up, especially if you work 5 days a week!

As always, you rocked this video. All so true!! Thank you 🩷

THIS! I’ve been saying this to people for years that they don’t have to apologize for their perfectly human home. You live there!

It is! Grass Starters 4Lyfe!
1000%❣
Great video!
Love this video ❤🥹❤️
thank you :)
I'm from different culture and I don't get all this "afraid of being bad" and "moral values applied to every piece of crap" thingies. It's weird.
This a great video but I liked the original thumbnail 😊
I did too! Currently A/B testing. We'll see which one wins 😂
Hello 👋🏽
