The more I face this crazy world, the more I like coming back to the calm, cool, sensible reasonable world of a Country granny. I'm still half country myself even though I now live out in the burbs. I love the Christian context that you present as well. Blesses to all.

Of all the good advice you give, the best one for me was, "Go shopping in your freezer, first!" Cyber hug, big old hug for Mr. Gizmo🙏💕😸

You could have breakfast for supper with French Toast with your eggs and milk....one of our favorites! We are having pork and kraut one day this week too. I made chicken salad tonight with leftover chicken from supper for tomorrow. I made a new recipe tonight with Oatmeal, bananas and chocolate chips - muffins with no flour. Not too bad! We are getting rain all day tomorrow and then cold is coming back. We are so ready for spring! You made a great haul at Walmart!

I recently learned about savory french toast and it blew my mind!! My favorite is chili, onion, tomato and curry-adjacent spices. If you need a recipe look for Bombay or Indian French Toast. But you can also do onions and black pepper or a little broth in the milk mixture etc. I want to make savory french toast with gravy soon.

I keep a list of the favorite meals my husband and I like. I make sure I keep ingredients on hand to make those meals anytime. I have chickens in my backyard. So eggs aren't an issue. We have 2 steers going to the butcher in March. And I have beef in the freezer from previous butchering. I don't have to buy a lot of meat. Although I love fish and it is expensive for no more than you get. I don't buy it often. I usually try to stock up in February during the Lent season when stores run it on sale. You got a good variety of basic items for meal planning. Many people forget basics are much cheaper if you're willing or able to cook from scratch. This helps save a lot of money.

For those of you that have internet access, any grocery store in your area that offers online ordering for delivery/pickup will have all of their current prices on their website.
I have 4 grocery stores in my area so I keep a spread sheet of prices for my most frequently purchased items. I update it about once a week. This has helped me save quite a bit of money.
Walmart tip, the yellow discount stickers on meat are done first thing in the morning.

Eggs currently $9 per dozen here in New Zealand. Our food prices are generally dreadful, but hey ho, it is what it is. Occasional bargains. Legs of lamb very cheap at Christmas, like $20.

That’s a good price for string beans. We aren’t allowed a Walmart in the boroughs of NY. So we can hardly even find string beans. I pick one up whenever I see it, much higher price though. They are good for digestion. Enjoy!

Shepherds pie, yum. At daycare where I worked, the cook made it with vegetable soup. It tasted so good that I always ate too much. Parents would have to ask how it was made because their children wanted Mom's to taste like that:)

Great choice of all the items you picked we are cooking at home more and more at least till April. I have to bills. I have to pay off in April and that’ll free me $500 a month. I just paid My Car Note and told that relieved me 500 I will drive that thing to the Wells Fargo.
We have a arctic freeze so everybody prepping to stay home for at least a week. I said that gonna make all of us fat staying inside eating all the good food but it’s
I just paid Property Taxes and Husband Property Taxes, but we save up all year for them. I believe Houston, Texas.
My house is 100 years old this year it’s family owned house. My mother had it and then now I have it we bought it early 70s. I think we’re fixing it up but I’m going to be happy when I relieve those bills I can put more into the house or adding new windows little by little I don’t wanna finance anything anymore I want to pay cash.
    Enjoy that good cooking 🥘

I'm in Utah and that egg price is the same as ours at Walmart right now. I was able to get 5 dozen at Costco for $15.98 so I bought those. We eat a lot of eggs at our house. I love seeing the things you choose and how you cook with them. Have a great day!

Your food list is a good one! You are going in the right direction. I’m doing the challenge too and in a very similar way as you. I remind myself tho to NOT wipe my supply totally out. It would make the ‘afterwards’ to difficult.

I do a Walmart grocery, etc, order twice a month; the first and the middle of each month. I get fresh free range eggs from a friend for "eating eggs" and the eggs from Walmart for baking and recipes, like meatloaf. Makes it easier cause she has banty hens and pullets. Let's you shock your family when you tell them you had four or five eggs for breakfast with your bacon and toast.

I am going home tonight and searching through my freezer for meats that need to be cooked. Since we are dropping into the teens in the next few days, I feel that it is a good time to heat the house with cooking. I will then pre-prep meals to go back into the freezer to pull out and heat and eat at a later date. I know I have a 1/2 of a pork tenderloin in the freezer that needs to be cooked. I am sure there are other large pieces of meat that should be thawed and cooked as well. I would really like to get the freezer above my fridge cleaned out before hurricane season.

I went to Walmart yesterday. I get certain things there that I can't get cheaply elsewhere. I kinda wish I'd have watched this before I went. I might have done better, but I really didn't look around. I'm starting to cook more from scratch. I actually do better on losing weight, not because my cooking is bad😂 but because I can control the ingredients.

I'm trying to cook from my pantry and freezer this month. I love fresh eggs and I have a friend who has chickens she sells her eggs for 3$ a dozen I just got 4 dozen from her yesterday I gave her 5$ a dozen and was happy to get them for that. I request she not wash them first and they last longer. I wash the dozen when I bring them out of the garage fridge. I just feel they last longer that way.
It is just Hubby, me, and my little dog. She is 16 and is very picky with what she eats. Sometimes I will give her a vieanna sausage to get her to eat her food. When I opened a new can yesterday I could not believe it they were at least 1/4 inch or more shorter than they used to be and I almost think they were one short. If I find an old can I am going to check for sure the count. Also, I noticed that the toilet paper rolls from Sam's club I have been buying for years are at least 1/4 inch or more shorter. They raise the price and cut down the quantity. It is getting worse and I do not see it getting any better in my time I am 70 be 71 next month and now I feel like my grandma used to say things like I am saying now. ;)
Thank you for your time I really like your channel. I like that you heart the comments that you have read them. Most channels never even do that. I think it even helps the person's channel if they do. We are in Southern Ohio expecting very cold temps this coming week. We still have snow

Sorry to say but expect egg prices to climb. Asian Bird Flu has hit so they are culling thousands of birds. You can not put any birds back into the contaminated area for 180 days after its culled and cleaned. So eggs will remain high

When I buy eggs at the super mkt. only get 1 doz. of the jumbo kind. I wonder if you buy larger amts. of eggs that are sealed in the box do you have good luck with all of them. The single pkgs. are able to be opened just to check for breakage. I watched a You Tube recently and the woman bought a larger size pkg. of eggs and found 5 of them were broken when she got them home. Our Walmart is small and does not have produce, meats fresh veggies in it. Eggs are just so expensive now it would be nice to find a good amt. and be reasonable.

There are lots of meals that you can make with eggs. Prices in today's market seem reasonable to me. They will be going a lot higher, with your new President threatening Canada & Mexico. Here in Canada, we are preparing to redirect our goods to our 56 Commonwealth countries under King Charles, instead of the USA. You will need to let us know what 24% tariffs on our goods impact your overall purchases and availability of car parts. I would be interested to know. Take care.
