    Long winded??? That was a perfectly timed presentation and some awesome insight as well. I know this comment is a year late but I wanted to say how much I appreciate the honest evaluation of each coach. Usually these videos are posted by dealers who, understandably, are very biased. To them everything is a pro, and there are never any cons. To have the opinion of someone who is actually living the RV Life is invaluable. Thanks- Looking forward to your new channel: Top RV Picks With The Wynns ;)

    I've been traveling for a year and a half now and my best advice is to stay as small as possible, there are many beautiful roads that are not accessible with big rvs and many campgrounds are the same and in many of them the maneuverability is very important especially after a long day of traveling, pulling in and setting up is so much better than unhooking sway bars, finding someone to spot you while you back up etc. Keep in mind that all the fancy gadgets aren't necessary and could break with huge expenses to fix so go simple.
    Enjoy the Journey! Stevie and Suki

      What size rv did you find to be the sweet spot for the challenging roads and campgrounds? I'm just starting to look into rv's and curious. I appreciate your time & suggestions.

    I just spent time in the M/B Leisure 2013 with my mom. I love it!!! Soft corners, good space, smooth ride, classy. The negative is the swivel table & the 2 swivel chairs don't recline. Other than that, great time was had by all and am very happy with this unit and its quality.

    It's been 9 years since I last watched this video and a LOT has changed in RV pricing!
    Nearly every RV listed here is now going for literally DOUBLE what is listed here. That's just nuts!

    I am one of the few, the proud, the bored (not really) who made it the end of the video and you guys are always worth watching to the bitter end. I chose the Chateau 23U for my first RV and so far, it's been an awesome experience. But this padawan has much to learn. So thank you (again) for your entertaining, enlightening and fun videos!

  • @OLDERBLUE

    ok ok.... I just bought a 1995 Georgie Boy Swinger.. 30 foot I think. The price was quite workable to give this full time RV living idea a fair shot. I might even think of starting a blog to find out if stating out at 70 years old has an interested following... Here I go..!!! BTW.. I have had this in mind as long as I have been following your web site.. a couple of years at least. Always enjoyed..Thank you

    I have no idea why this video was suggested by TH-cam as I have no intentions of buying an RV (in the near future at least) and therefore haven't researched any related topics. Nevertheless I made it to the end of the video....in part because RVs are just fun, but largely because you two are adorable. I thought you put together a great little video. Keep making them....about anything.

    I actually bought a Leisure Travel Van, the model in your video! I love it! The bed, if you want, can be left down during the day, depending on what you want to do. It's not a big deal to put it up & down though. The space it gives you, up, during the day is fabulous! I have always had BIG rigs, 38+ feet, diesel pushers what ever. This is an excellent small unit!

    Just watched this. Have you ever considered an older RV? I purchased a 1987 Skyline Lindy back in 2007. It had less than 50,000 miles on it, and is about 24 feet long. I understand some folks may shy away from older RV's, but at $6800 for a Quality Class C, I could not pass it up. The interior was and still is in great condition. The few problems (mechanical mainly), cost about $4500 so far to fix. Even with that and so added creature comforts like a weather band/CB Radio, Generator, HD Radio, with CD (MP3), XM, I-pod, USB, and Auxiliary (ohone/Mp3 player) Inputs, Satellite TV, Wi-Fi w/small HP computer, HD LED TV, DVD Player, and other goodies. I have paid about $14,000. total. If I were to upgrade with a New Awning, Solar Power System, and add on Transmission Over/Under Drive, I would still be less than the $70 to $130 K your top three picks are priced at. Heck, I am still under the typical $50 K range for a new (Non-Slideout) Class C on closeout.

      Thanks for sharing Joseph, an older RV is the best way to go...plus you can customize everything. If we purchase another RV one day we could go for something in the 30' range, maybe a mid 90's Safari Trek or similar?

    We have the cheap RV, Tioga 23Ft and love it but we did not pay $70,000. Found a used one under 20,000 miles, 10 years old stored in a shed for $23,000. Upgraded all the lights to LED. We travel with 2 sphinx cats and a Boston terrier. We put the litter box in the tub and installed the cat door on the bathroom door without the flapper. I must admit climbing up the ladder to the bed does get old but I like the open space for living.

    Made it to the end of the video and it spurred us to look around for alternatives. Though we enjoyed our 24' Gulfstream BT Cruiser for 13 years/92,000 miles, ~ we wanted to trade up 'slightly'. Not all BT Cruisers of the past are still available except for used models. Looked at Forest River's disappointing alternatives. What we settle for in the $70,000 range (plus nice trade in) was Thor's Vegas (Axis is seemingly the same, but from different distributors). We are now leisure traveling in a new 26' Vegas 25.2 model (slide out bedroom in the back). Engine noise is slightly louder than in the BT Cruiser, but the Vegas is on the same Ford V-10 350 chassis which is a plus. Plus much, much more exterior storage. Larger bathroom is appreciated. Overhead electric 'disappearing' single bed will store up to 12 cases of wine (500 lb weight limit). . . . . . . Automatic levelers not available in this unit. Appreciate low exterior entrance doorway without electric stairs. Since we like 'camping' in National Forrest areas, it looks like we will have to add to this unit an inverter and roof solar panel as we enjoyed on our BT Cruiser.

      The Leisurevan (last one) was my favorite, too. Heard mostly positive comments from you in the walk through. Really do think putting the banquette back in place each morning would soon become just routine; after all, it didn't seem to take any longer than making up a bed! CON: Have used many refrigerators, always HATE interior freezers. The fridges never seem to keep frozen food frozen and cold food warmer than frozen. Better upgrade that.

    It's hard to get all the best features into one perfect little RV. I liked the first Winnie, but that sleeping arrangement would send me over the top. (or around the bend?) And I'm not terribly claustrophobic, but it wouldn't work. Middle of the night...I'd freak out.
    The Class A was just too "cheap". Good luck trying to get a Class A under 70k. Too many corners to cut. (the plastic)
    The Unity (or any of the Triple E products) are pretty awesome. HOWEVER, I'd stay away from the Merc. We have a Mercedes (love it) but the parts are indeed made of "unobtainium". So....deep pockets required.
    Even though I'm not a huge Ford fan, I seem to think that last model does come on a Ford 350 chassis. Or maybe one of its cousins?
    Worth a look. Good luck.

    • @spacesaverbob
      @spacesaverbob 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, forgot to mention. The "Unity" products do appear to be proper four season vehicles. The way they are put together, nothing is going to freeze. There are a bunch of videos out there. The guy doing the presenting is a wee bit annoying, but worth watching. Search 2013 Regency GT24MB. You may have to mute "Dean" however. Just my humble opinion.

      some people are full timers, room and residential type appliances are a necessity. Besides not everyone want to be jammed into 100 sq ft of space, that can be uncomfortable when it gets cold outside and you're not practically living outdoors...

    We have owned a class B Pleasureways and a class C Travelaire always in the 19 - 22ft range. Our trips usually last from 6 - 8 weeks and cover at least 10,000 miles. We travel with 2 large dogs and found they do not cause any problems except for sleeping arrangements. Of the 2 the class C was our favourite for it had a real bed and a dining area that did not have to be changed when it came time to sleep. Unfortunately we had to give up about 8 mpg over the Class B. Also the class B didn't require a special garage to handle its size and weight when it came time for repairs while on the road.

    It's hard to build an RV that covers everybody's taste and needs.
    As for buying new. You're throwing money away. Find a used one that best fits your likes. Them take the savings and do the improvements that you want. That extra $40k in saving can buy lots of improvements too. As 30k miles is nothing on an RV.

    • @WizzRacing
      @WizzRacing 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're an idiot. If it's got 15k miles on it. Then it's either some cheap manufacture or it's been parked for 25 years.
      Also motorhomes are designed to be driven. Not set in one place. If you want that buy a "Mobile Home". Which is kinda funny. The only thing mobile about them is they were moved once.

    • @WizzRacing
      @WizzRacing 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're an idiot if you don't know what you're looking at or hire someone to inspect it that does.
      And no I'm not going to cry like you. I know what I'm buying before I go lay down my money! You might try it.

    • @WizzRacing

    You can always replace shower heads and install slides on pantry shelves. These are not major fixes. Plastic counters and sinks are a bigger project but can be done reasonably if you want that extra space and storage at a more frugal cost.

    Great, informative video, and I really like how upbeat you guys are. I know you know this but maybe it bears repeating, namely that the 2nd rv is 40 to 50 thousand dollars less than the other two. Yes it has chintzy fixtures, cabinets without pull out drawers , etc. But for less that a tenth of the difference you could have the cheap stuff replaced, the cabinetry tweeked etc., etc. by a shop. (For the full $50,000 difference you probably could have a Taj Mahal on wheels.) Just my thoughts. I see the chintzy features as a permission slip to dial the whole thing in just the way I want it, and the price difference as the built-in financing. I look forward to watching the rest of your videos!

    The Merc seemed very good compared to the other two. As for steel sinks - they're way cheaper than plastic to buy and of course will out live any plastic sink. So swapping one out shouldn't be too hard.
    The folding bed is cool, but like you pointed out, it would be a pain to mess with every day.

    Do they make ANY motorhomes these days that have exterior paint jobs that arent reminiscent of a bad tribal tattoo or an airbrush t-shirt from the 90s? Im looking for something like an RV thats a solid color or just features a simple stripe down the side...

      $70k isn't that bad if your job requires a lot of travel and you're okay living tiny. Yes it's more than one makes in a year, but... that's what a loan is for right?

    • @jasongurganus9860
      @jasongurganus9860 8 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      okay but most Americans dont make 50k or 70k .... most incomes are under 35k.... just saying

    • @dragames
      @dragames 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      yes, which means you could have this paid off in 4 years maybe. especially if you share the expense with someone else.
      If you are working for a company that requires the travel, they reimburse you for the gas/diesel, so... you don't pay money on that. Your bills would literally only be the RV, and the replacement for water (most of these newer RV's either have lithium batteries or solar panels or sometimes both so you'd never need to plug into something to charge the batteries, you just let the engine run) every 3-6 months an oil change and whatever food you eat. You could save a lot of money in the end because you're not paying a high sewage/water/electricity/gas bill

    Before you give up on the search, check out the Plateau XL by Pleasure-Way. It's a really elegant coach built on the Sprinter chassis. You should get 15-20 MPG. The 2016 model is best.

  •  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah, six years after the fact, but still a great review for someone (like me) looking for a good used coach. Excellent rapid fire sequencing with helpful little factoids along the way. Appreciate the youthful exuberance tied to experiential knowledge. I was very disappointed with the Vista expecting way more from Winnebago, but as you aptly explained, it was a price point build.

    You might want to look at a few other great choices under 30 feet, the Itasca Reyo 25T or 25Q (same as Winnebago Via 25) or the Unity Twin Bed. We're trying to decide between those models. Of course these are touring motorhomes vs your lifestyle of a more of a long term living scenario. Thanks for the great videos you two.
