Has anyone ever invited Dr Bernstein to a low carb conference? I would love to see him honored and recognized in his lifetime. ESPECIALLY knowing the scorn he had to endure from his "esteemed" colleagues during his career... Like so many pioneers. That's a conference I'd travel to. ... maybe plan a conference near where he lives in NY since he's in his 90s now.

What a great idea, Dr. Bernstein is amazing and has helped so many with his knowledge and by example. He started out as an engineer and either developed or helped develop the first glucometer for home use.

Note to Sam: Well done for organising this etc. As a speaker, I'd encourage you to a) first decide who/what you want and then b) ask THEM how long they'll need x

After curing my T2 Diabetes with a Zero Carb Diet (5.2 A1c & 7.8 Fasting Insulin)...and normal weight.... I'm no longer stuck with Zero Carbs. My FBS isn't above 105 even with eating the occasional plate of pasta or a Pizza. & normal days keep carbs below ~100 grams (but no sugars.....Allulose sugar is terrific...just like sugar & can bake with it
My T2D never got bad enough that Metformin couldn't normalize glucose levels.
This is the REASON that DIAGNOSIS While still in the Pre-Diabetes Stage is CRITICAL. It's EASY TO CURE THEN.

70% of prediabetics go on to be diabetic. It's not that easy. Doctors should be doing fasting insulin testing way before people reach prediabetes.

The book is so good and I'm going to give it to my diab consultant. A question is why he omitted mention of the Durect trials? I think these are the starvation diets of the pre insulin era!

  • @MrSmith-zy2bp

46:20 I've never heard this. My doctor was you may eventually require drugs with your low carb diet and exercise.
And then beta cells (which can be tested for) may die off requiring insulin injections.

I think the real definition of type 2 diabetes should be - when your poor insulin resitant liver starts making way too much glucose after years of abuse and your doctor finally notices.

A very interesting and informative presentation. But Gary should see a cardiologist - the way he's out of breath just from speaking indicates a severe right heart failure affecting his respiratory capacity already. Stay well 🙌😂

It's so glaringly obvious. All you need to do is study a littlebit of biochemistry to understand the mechanisms, don't consume epidemiological studies, just go for solid data and proven peer reviewed mechanisms not correlations, as primary source and then it becomes clear after a few hundred hours of research. All you have to do is not fckng eat carbohydrates. Period. End of story, everyone go home. They are not essential, and your body is not equipped to handle the fallout. Why is that so hard to understand is beyond me. That pharmaceutical companies care about managing symptoms instead of treating root cause is obvious. That should not come as a surprise.
