Ssb radio to get weather info - part 1 Ep. 18

  • We are installing a Yeasu shortwave radio in our sailboat. The main purpose is to be able to receive weatherinformation and weatherfax images. A shortwave radio is a bit more complex to install than a VHF radio. It needs a tuner and good grounding. And a nice bonus with the Yaesu radio is that it can receive the common FM stations as well using our masthead VHF antenna.

      @@SailingAnjo if you want some tips! Trigger the tuner on your target freq but in AM mode at about 10w. Also I wouldn’t use a banana plug how you did for the antenna connection. PL-259 aka UHF connector only. Also all maritime is USB correct?

      Hi! The android app that we use to decode weather fax is called HF weather fax, from wolphi.
