for the ones who don't understand ^_^ Katherine is sen't from her home country to kill Rudolph, she makes him fall in love but in the process she also falls in love with him as well. but they can't be together because the'll both get killed. with her life on the line, she decides to tell him what she was planing to do and kill him. Rudolph tells her that he already knew. and he still pent that time with her, because he loves and trust her sincerely. Katherine denies everything he says and her own feelings. she shoots him and Rudolph's last words are "I love you Katherine." she runs away completely disturbed and in shock. and he's henchmen i believe asks him if he needs a doctor but Rudolph says no, that katherine should follow her own path and believe that he truly never did love her' when he in fact very much did.
17:15 "Tell her the truth.. tell her the truth so that she'll watch the stars through tears instead of following the one cold star that is her destiny. No.. no.. Let her think, I never loved her.. one day she will follow a flag the same fate as mine we must leave her the strength for that our."
“Listen to your heart, Catherine. Feel it pounding.” “Your time is up.” “Well, then my last words. I love you Catherine.” “Your determined to die with a lie on your lips?!” Catherine would shoot Rudolph. “I.. love you, Catherine..” “Oh, god!”
“You’re very clever, aren’t you? I can read you like a book now. You thought I was young, and easily swayed, that you could make me love you, and I would throw over my country-my duty for you-!” “Thats not the way to look at it, Catheryne.” “You weren’t so wise afterall! Because you’ve lost you hear me?! Lost! You’ve guessed wrong in our little duel of wits! You forgot how close hate is to love!” “You don’t know what you’re saying Catheryne.” “You never loved me-! You knew that I loved you, and you used that!” “Catheryne stop talking like a child-we’re playing for countries now!” “Yes we are, aren’t we!” “This is a gun in my hand, Rudolph… i’d advice you to be careful what you say.” “Well… rather melodramatic, aren’t you..? Tell me, will I be the 7th notch on the gun or the 8th?… haha…. d’you mind if I smoke?” “…Smoke?!” “…I always smoke at the theatre. Somehow it enhances the performance.” “You can do anything you please, Rudolph, but you have very little time to do it in.” “…You mean you’re actually going to kill me..?” “I mean just that.” “Well… go ahead.” “…I’ll do this my own way… Look… you already know my purpose in being here. Now you will either give me my information, or I will kill you. You have until 9 o’clock.” “You won’t do it. You can’t pull the trigger. You can’t pull it because you love me. It takes a very brave and a very cold woman to do that Catheryne, I don’t think you can… Isn’t that true? Isn’t that why you’re waiting…?” “Thats not true!” “Or is it that you want to watch your victim? You want my heart to constrict with agony, my hands to shake! You want me to plead for my life so you can make a generous gesture and spare me… Sorry Catheryne, I don’t seem to be in the mood for prayers tonight.” “You don’t think i’ll do it? Thats why you’re so brave… You don’t think i’ll do it… You wouldn’t be so brave otherwise…! You’re a coward at heart! You lied to me, you decieved me-“ “You tried to decieve me.” “-I’m tired of listening to you!” “You gave me your heart you know… You’r like me to hand it back-whole again. But I won’t. You’ll live a long time yet Catheryne, an eternity without me. You will look into the faces of passers by hoping for something that will-- for an instant-- bring me back to you. You will find moonlit nights strangely empty because, when you call my name through them there will be no answer. Always your heart will be aching for me, and your mind will give you the doubtful consolation that you did, a brave thing.” “You dare to talk of bravery…!” “What else do we have to talk about Catheryne? For me- there will never be another woman but you… but for my heart there is another love that must come before you… my country!…… You’re so still, your face is like ice… what are you thinking Catheryne…?” “What does anything you can say matter…? You betrayed me with words… What good are words when your heart is breaking… If I fail now I should deserve to die. You tricked me into loving you.” “You’re forgetting that you came here for the same purpose!” “I couldn’t have betrayed you… I tried to tell you and you said you already knew! I was as honest as I knew how to be!” “Do you think I wanted to love you…?! Knowing where ya came from and what your mission was?! Don’t you suppose that every hour that we were together I was just thinking ‘Shes just pretending’?!” “I wasn’t!!! I loved you!!!” “And I loved you so much I let you pretend… because you brought something to my days I couldn’t stand the thought of losing… Listen to your heart Catheryne. Feel it pounding.” “Your time is up.” “Then my last words… I love you Catheryne.” “You’re determined to die with a lie on your lips?!” [BANG] “I-… Love you.. Catheryne…!!” “…Oh God..”
I’m absolutely shocked how beautiful this is. This feels like a movie without the visuals. Rudolph reminds me so much of my ex that I swear this piece of art has made me cry. It’s so heartbreaking but I love it

Treaties, pacts, and alliances being formed against the man who sent you. Tonight, I will sign a pact that will set the wheels in motion to destroy him. CATHERINE: Destroy him!? No! RUDOLPH: He has made a great many mistakes! The greatest of all was sending you here, Catherine. CATHERINE: Why? RUDOLPH: He knew I should love you, but he did not guess that you would fall in love with me. CATHERINE: No... He didn't guess that. RUDOLPH: And do you see that you cannot betray him?! CATHERINE: If I betray you, I betray myself... If I betray him...I betray my country. My country is very dear to me. RUDOLPH: Dearer than I? CATHRINE: No. No. Not dearer than you. RUDOLPH: Then, will you help me defeat him? CATHERINE: Help you? CATHERINE: Defeat him? RUDOLPH: By telling me his plans. That's the only way I could hope to defeat him! We can't both win. You'll see Catherine. CATHERINE: I'm beginning to see... RUDOLPH: Then you will help me? CATHRINE: By giving you any information I may possess concerning our plans? RUDOLPH: Yes. @@vejni It's not we'll, it's you will, the Count is talking about how it will be if she shoots him, meaning he's out of the picture, so it's just "you will"
8:37 The way Rudolph says"I love you" feels so... I can't even put into words how genuine it sounds. and right at 8:51 that line would have Shakespeare rolling in his grave. I love old radio shows man.
you live a long time yet Catherine, an eternity without me. You will look into the faces of passers-by, hoping for something that will for an instant, bring me back to you. Ok but the fact that Rudolph had every benefit and everything to gain from Katherine. Like- if she gave him the info and trusted him, she'd lose her home, while he would have his home AND Katherine. At that standoff, he is essentially forcing her to give everything up for him. Either way she'd be heartbroken. Even by his side. Can't blame her for acting the way she did
For those who struggled to understand the story like I did, I broke it down so that I could understand! hope this helps! Katherine is sent from her home country by Kalenkov with a mission, she must obtain information from count rudolph estevan, an enemy of her country. In order to do so, Katherine tries to get Rudolph to fall in love with her. Then, she'll simply betray him. Over a few weeks, the two grow closer and he does fall in love with katherine, however, she ends up falling in love with Rudolph as well. Eventually Katherine was running out of time to get the information, and was told she had until tonight to get the information. this leads to a moment of conflict between katherine and Rudolph, where he reveals that he already knew about katherine's mission because he had his men look into katherine the moment she came into his life. The reason why Rudolph didn't do anything was because he trusted Katherine with his life, his heart, and his country. Rudolph tells her that he has a plan, that his country has the upper hand and he knows how to take Kalenkov down. Rudolph begs katherine to help him, once they take kalenkov down they could be free to be together without a worry in the world! This causes huge Inner Turmoil within Katherine. She has to choose between her love, or her country. Katherine pulls a gun on Rudolph, and tries to deny her love, her feelings, but Rudolph trusts her. he doesn't believe katherine is going to kill him. He says "I love you, katherine." before he is shot. Katherine is in shock, and distraught, she makes a run for it. Meanwhile Rudolph's henchman come to his aid. and it is revealed that rudolph was actually sent by kalenkov as well, and this whole mission was a test to see if katherine was trust worthy. Rudolph tells his henchmen to let kalenkov know katherine can be trusted. (Rudolph lives, but it's uncertain of what happens after that.)

Why was this so much better than most of the visual media I've watched in my entire life? Sure it was a bit faster pace than I like (i love slow burns) but DANG. So much packed into one small area. i cant believe, me a gen alpha, is actually enjoying this. as i get further and further into the podcast i realize how many of my favorite memes/trends/audios come from this. it's perfect.
i sobbed, ive never been a girl who's always to cry over such simple things yet here i am,crying over a woman and a man who love each other so dearly but for the sake of the mission someone had to die...
"look Catherine, a shouting star. did you wish? I didn't have time. there is something you wish for. yes what did you wish. I was wishing that we where 2 other people. 2 people who need not to say goodbye." 5:46 that made me cry😭
FINALLY!! I’ve been trying to find where that part from “cigarettes out the window” came from for MONTHS And I’ve always been curious to hear the whole story so I will enjoy listening to this.
I love this podcast so much… this particular episode reminds me of Roma and Juliet in Our violent delights. With Juliet as Rudolf and Roma as Catherine 🥲
to my lovely catherine, in all my years I've never met someone with such a beautiful soul as yours. i know of the poems and letters and songs that have been written about other's beauty in the past, but no words can truly captivate how amazing you are. i would follow you to the ends of the earth and from a simple command I would move mountains for you. love letters and writings and feelings from the heart would be piled up around my room if not for the fact that I get to think about you every night before I sleep. i know I overstepped my bounds and that I've hurt you, but I truly hope that one day we might be able to have a conversation face-to-face again. i truly did love you, y'know. always thinking of you, your rudolph.
Wow, what a work of art! How interesting! I had no idea this kind of stuff was on TH-cam, or that I would enjoy the radio-show style of it. Just found a new favorite thing!
"Please go!" "What is it? Whats wrong , my dear?" "You know nothing about me and you've known me three weeks!.." " three weeks? Catherine, I've known u all my life." " "All your life?" "It's True! I've seen u in a thousand plays, read you in as many books. When I heard beautiful music, I'd thought, 'she'd like that'. " I've looked at flowers and known that one day I'd give one to you !" "Oh, stop stop" yw
i found this so late.. once i found this, i started crying. this story is absoloutely beautiful. its such a shame that theres no other part 2, etc etc... i have nothing else to say i'll just share this story with others..
I am adventure. In my name, men have traversed the highways, the bi-ways, the sky-ways of the world. I have tramped the jungles with explorers. I have ridden the wilderness, rode onhorseback, and uncovered wagons. I have gone twenty thousand leagues under the seas andas many leagues above them. I have been the fire of Captain Kid and Walter Raleigh and JohnPaul Jones and Fraus Ravion. That fire that burns in the heart of youth that makes men dreamand bare and conquer. I am the spirit of romantic adventure. I am dangerously yours.

she shoots him and Rudolph's last words are "I love you Katherine."

but Rudolph says no, that katherine should follow her own path and believe that he truly never did love her'
when he in fact very much did.
is this from a movie or was it just an audio recording ? also do you know who wrote it?
@@chelseachitambo2426 it is just an audio recording. sadly, this was from 1944 so I don't think there's any info on the writers
Rudolph was an undercover agent meant to test Katherine's loyalty, as well.

Can you explain to me what this is like is it a clip from a movie what exactly is this ?

“You’re very clever, aren’t you? I can read you like a book now. You thought I was young, and easily swayed, that you could make me love you, and I would throw over my country-my duty for you-!”
“Thats not the way to look at it, Catheryne.”
“You weren’t so wise afterall! Because you’ve lost you hear me?! Lost! You’ve guessed wrong in our little duel of wits! You forgot how close hate is to love!”
“You don’t know what you’re saying Catheryne.”
“You never loved me-! You knew that I loved you, and you used that!”
“Catheryne stop talking like a child-we’re playing for countries now!”
“Yes we are, aren’t we!”
“This is a gun in my hand, Rudolph… i’d advice you to be careful what you say.”
“Well… rather melodramatic, aren’t you..? Tell me, will I be the 7th notch on the gun or the 8th?… haha…. d’you mind if I smoke?”
“…Smoke?!”
“…I always smoke at the theatre. Somehow it enhances the performance.”
“You can do anything you please, Rudolph, but you have very little time to do it in.”
“…You mean you’re actually going to kill me..?”
“I mean just that.”
“Well… go ahead.”
“…I’ll do this my own way… Look… you already know my purpose in being here. Now you will either give me my information, or I will kill you. You have until 9 o’clock.”
“You won’t do it. You can’t pull the trigger. You can’t pull it because you love me. It takes a very brave and a very cold woman to do that Catheryne, I don’t think you can… Isn’t that true? Isn’t that why you’re waiting…?”
“Thats not true!”
“Or is it that you want to watch your victim? You want my heart to constrict with agony, my hands to shake! You want me to plead for my life so you can make a generous gesture and spare me… Sorry Catheryne, I don’t seem to be in the mood for prayers tonight.”

You will find moonlit nights strangely empty because, when you call my name through them there will be no answer.
Always your heart will be aching for me, and your mind will give you the doubtful consolation that you did, a brave thing.”
“You dare to talk of bravery…!”
“What else do we have to talk about Catheryne? For me- there will never be another woman but you… but for my heart there is another love that must come before you… my country!…… You’re so still, your face is like ice… what are you thinking Catheryne…?”
“What does anything you can say matter…? You betrayed me with words… What good are words when your heart is breaking… If I fail now I should deserve to die. You tricked me into loving you.”
“You’re forgetting that you came here for the same purpose!”
“I couldn’t have betrayed you… I tried to tell you and you said you already knew! I was as honest as I knew how to be!”
“Do you think I wanted to love you…?! Knowing where ya came from and what your mission was?! Don’t you suppose that every hour that we were together I was just thinking ‘Shes just pretending’?!”

"Look, Catherine,a shooting star!did you wish?"
"Ah,I didn't have time..."
"So there's something you wish?
"Yes..."
"What did you wish?"
"I was wishing..that..we were two other people.."
**Pause**
"Two people who need not say goodbye.."
"Perhaps it can be that way"
**Music ends at **6:16****
"Forgive me your lordship, but I'm not easy in my mind about this business,I wish you wouldn't go to see that woman tonight sir!"
"How could I stay away!?(however you spell that name) for the first time in my life I'm *completely* head over heels in love!"
15:15
C: “If I fail now, I should deserve to die. You tricked me into loving you.”
R: “Aren’t you forgetting that you came here for the same purpose?”
C: “I couldn’t betray you. I tried to tell you. You said you already knew… I was as honest as I knew how to be!”
R: “Do you think I wanted to love you? Knowing where you came from and what your mission was? Don’t you suppose that every hour we were together I was thinking, ‘She’s just pretending’?”
C: “I wasn’t! I loved you!”
R: “And I loved you so much I let you pretend.. because.. you brought something to my days I couldn’t stand the thought of losing..”
8:38 the way he says “i love you” kills me off

I listened to the whole series of "Dangerously Yours" and I sobbed every episode 😭
When and how?
@@jessicathenobody i listened to some of them in spotify or maybe there's some here
i sobbed, ive never been a girl who's always to cry over such simple things yet here i am,crying over a woman and a man who love each other so dearly but for the sake of the mission someone had to die...
Why did it take me 5 listens to realize that this whole mission was a test of loyalty from Kolenkov (IDK how to spell it) for Catherine?! 😃
It's an incredibly good plot twist ngl
@@jessicathenobody Indeed!
Took me about 10 and a comment on here lol
So did he actually love her then or was that part of the test?
@@crystalparker6521 He actually wound up loving her
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE 20,000 UNDER THE SEA REFERENCE (it’s a sci fi book and bro it’s AMAZING)

4:13 A AAAAH THIS IS MY FAVORITE PART-
i love these poetic radio shows. between this and romeo and juliet. they were so descriptive and had such an amazing way with words.
FINALLY!! I’ve been trying to find where that part from “cigarettes out the window” came from for MONTHS
And I’ve always been curious to hear the whole story so I will enjoy listening to this.
Sameee!!!! I AM OBSESSEEEED
I can't believe I cried and still crying because of a radio show older than my grandma.

“i love you, you may as well take my heart Catherine its already full of you”
I Love This Masterpiece is still fairly popular in this day and age
I M UPSET WITH THE ENDING.
NO.
WHAT THE HELL!?!?!
*Curls up in a corner*
I love this podcast so much… this particular episode reminds me of Roma and Juliet in Our violent delights. With Juliet as Rudolf and Roma as Catherine 🥲
"Look Catherine it's a shooting star " I CANNOT I CRIED
this...this is something i love. Loved this.
I feel so empty after finishing this.
6:21 This declaration it's just....perfect
to my lovely catherine,
in all my years I've never met someone with such a beautiful soul as yours. i know of the poems and letters and songs that have been written about other's beauty in the past, but no words can truly captivate how amazing you are. i would follow you to the ends of the earth and from a simple command I would move mountains for you. love letters and writings and feelings from the heart would be piled up around my room if not for the fact that I get to think about you every night before I sleep.
i know I overstepped my bounds and that I've hurt you, but I truly hope that one day we might be able to have a conversation face-to-face again. i truly did love you, y'know.
always thinking of you,
your rudolph.
14:27 “you will find moonlight night strangely empty”
Wow, what a work of art! How interesting! I had no idea this kind of stuff was on TH-cam, or that I would enjoy the radio-show style of it. Just found a new favorite thing!
I love this so much. I listen to it before bed. Sucks how it’s not very popular
i was so hooked to this and idk why
This is amazing I loved every second on this and listened carefully the every word boy of them said I love them and I love listening to them

SHE SOUNDS SO PISSED OFF I LOVE CATHERINE SM
My heart melts listening to this. The acting is amazing, I love it.
we found it !! finally!! god, this story is so beautiful istg
Its mind boggling how words can move the heart. We cant even see any expressions but the words.
"Please go!" "What is it? Whats wrong , my dear?" "You know nothing about me and you've known me three weeks!.." " three weeks? Catherine, I've known u all my life."
" "All your life?" "It's True! I've seen u in a thousand plays, read you in as many books. When I heard beautiful music, I'd thought, 'she'd like that'. " I've looked at flowers and known that one day I'd give one to you !" "Oh, stop stop" yw
This is the best thing I’ve ever listened to in my life 😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭

1:56 intro of the getaway - tv girl
All so sweet...all these podcasts but this has got to be my favorite...I love it ❤️
Right person, wrong time.
8:23 the best part, it stuck in my head
i found this so late.. once i found this, i started crying.
this story is absoloutely beautiful. its such a shame that
theres no other part 2, etc etc... i have nothing else to say
i'll just share this story with others..
I can’t believe I cried over this, I never cry watching videos but this broke my heart
There are so many lines in this that’s in tv girls songs, and it’s so 😭😭😭
Don't midn me crying over this old radioshow from the 1900s.
An iconic sample but a beautiful story as well
"you never loved me! you knew that i loved you, and you used that!" 😢😢😢
God why is this so good
