Not gonna lie but the E39 is a fkn legend. My father owned a 540i back then and that V8... bro... that was something else. I was young. Maybe 5 or 6 years old but I will NEVER forget the Sound that Monster did when he was pulling in the tunnels. Even when an M5 appeared, the 540i stood its ground and screamed like nothing else. It dusted Porsches left and right, decimated the competition. Nowadays my father drives a M3 E92. However, its not the same as the E39 M5/540i. Those were on a different level. Whole other level.
My wife had a 523iA from 1996, it was a hand me down car that her father bought new and then it went through years of his use and two of her sisters had used it before here. In 2014 we bought here a E250 4-matic to replace the old BMW, the 523 had 275000km on it back then and a full service record from the same dealer that it was originally bought from. The car looked a bit rough and had some minor rust etc. we desided to keep it and took it to a shop that fixed the rust issues and did a full repaint and I changed all the emblems, lights etc. Now it looks like a brand new E39 and we use it during the summer, it is a great car :) Glacier green with a funky greenish velvet interior.

Many journalists still insist the E39 is not just the best BMW, but the best car ever. I actually agree. I have many cars of many type including 6 E39s of various type and 3 E60s I've had my first E39 for 19 years. I resisted going to E60 because I hated the styling after the E39. Only got my first one years ago. There are a few annoying things about the E39 as others have mentioned. The interior door handles and buttons on the climate unit are both an annoyingly poor designs. The other thing I hate is the plastic buckets under the interior door handles where the painted finish comes off leaving them looking like a piece of tupperware. Overall though the best cars I've had among Jags, Porsches, Mercs. Wonderful ride in the standard E39 and very good handling for a car with such soft ride. My favorite is a 2003 530i which is dressed like a 530I m but standard suspension. It has incredibly nice ride even though it has 18 inch Msport wheels. I have fitted M5 seats which are perfect and I love it. Best car I've ever had. You can buy E39s for near nothing these days and anyone who hasn't experienced the cars should at least manage to sample one. Also much easier to live with that later models. I have a 2018 440i Coupe and whilst it sounds good, BMWs just don’t sound as creamy smooth and velvety as they used to. My favourite sounding ones are an E12 or E28 528i (I owned both back in the Eighties) or E30 325i but this E39 sounds excellent too. I had an E36 328iA Convertible years ago which also sounded excellent especially on initial pull away from the lights.

owning a E39 525d fully M Package from factory (manual tho and without sunroof sadly) but i can say that it's the best car i ever drove and i've drove a lot of makes and models. You won't regret having one 100%
@@SomeNormalRomanian sunroof only looks nice and clean, nothing else. In summer it's pointless to have it open because air escapes, the fuel economy worsens when it's open, it makes noise, it might leak or break and then you have to repair it or replace it, it adds weight to the top of the car which puts it's center of gravity higher, it decreases the structural rigidity of the car. But on an E39 it just looks so clean and kind of completes the design.. It's not a sportscar, it's not an economy car, it's not an insanely reliable car, so if you are going for one you might as well get it with the best look - full options with the full M-Package.. However if you don't have a sunroof you have tons of excuses why sunroofs are bad xD

Many motoring journalists still consider it the best car ever made. I've had e39s for 17 years. Still have them all 523, 525, 528 & 530 I now have e60s too. hated the look of them when they came out and said I'd have e39s forever. Only bought the first e60 last year. They're a great car too and I even like the look now but the seats are terrible compared to the E39. Just bought an e60 530i with the comfort seat option though and it's great. Can't understand how BMW went from great seats to terrible seats. I have had several people try them. Sit in one car and then the other. Everyone agreed the E39 seats are way better.
Meant to say their combination of ride quality and handling is the most impressive thing. I prefer the standard suspension as the roads are not great where I live. People are amazed at the ride of the car on these rough rural roads.
I still have a 2002 e39 525i in gray with black interior waggon version in vegas Nevada, as my back up car was my daily driver for 4 years, one time on an arrow straight road in 110F in the middle of the desert i got 142 mph for a solid 40 miles straight with a slight down hill grade when you get to around 128 to 132mph they is another gear in the auto box that must lock the torque converter to bring the revs down at top speed but you can get a few more mph out of it in that locked status and push it just over 140mph before the wind resistace is to much for the engine to over come. But for the age and type of car its impressive, has 180k on it and was refreshed useing arange of different parts form pick a part including a engine from a 2006 325i and replaced interior from another 5 series ,
I got an 03 530i with a manual transmission not a fauxmatic with flappy paddles a honest to life clutch. It is the high water mark for BMW but every time I drive I wish I could afford the E39 M5
That interior, after so many years and miles, german quality from the late 90's and early 2000's is unsurpassed..

Meant to say their combination of ride quality and handling is the most impressive thing. I prefer the standard suspension as the roads are not great where I live. People are amazed at the ride of the car on these rough rural roads.
I still daily by 2001 530i to work each day... Pure comfort!
Deutsche autos sind noch die beste 😍
Крутые обзоры ✌️
Damals war noch Qualität an erster Stelle. Hab 10 jahre BMW 520i e39 als facelift gefahren. Super Fahrzeug
540i 2003 ❤️❤️❤️
Yes, please 😋
decent video for a 523i but a little annoyed with all the unnecessary turn signal use.....turn signals on a BMW are for claiming parking spaces only
Very nice! Seems to be, the car is in a good condition👍🏻 and according to its age - is impressive for 523))
Lo mejor bmw e39 👍👍
Nice
BEST audi a8 d2 4.2 v8 I hope there's a video.
Thanks for putting up the tacho as Well as the speedo
Thats my favorite car i have This BMW too :D
I have a BMW e39 523i. That’s really nice car. Quality and looks good. Timeless design.
Were you planning on changing the oil afterwards? Nice ride, I have a Silverstone ‘00 e39 M5.
What a great driving ! I don`t miss my 523 1996 anymore. E39 540 i 2002 is... better.
Great m52 engine metallic sound
I still have a 2002 e39 525i in gray with black interior waggon version in vegas Nevada, as my back up car was my daily driver for 4 years, one time on an arrow straight road in 110F in the middle of the desert i got 142 mph for a solid 40 miles straight with a slight down hill grade when you get to around 128 to 132mph they is another gear in the auto box that must lock the torque converter to bring the revs down at top speed but you can get a few more mph out of it in that locked status and push it just over 140mph before the wind resistace is to much for the engine to over come. But for the age and type of car its impressive, has 180k on it and was refreshed useing arange of different parts form pick a part including a engine from a 2006 325i and replaced interior from another 5 series ,
BMW E39 WA3RA GOOD 😍😍😍
Love your videos always
That engine sounds amazing
E39 😍😍😍
Just bought my third one
I got an 03 530i with a manual transmission not a fauxmatic with flappy paddles a honest to life clutch. It is the high water mark for BMW but every time I drive I wish I could afford the E39 M5
Произведение искусства, чистокровный немец, созданный инженерами, не то что сейчас
много съм доволен супер е стара техника ....💥💥💥златна
last GENUINE BMW from exterior, interior, engines point.
Though I could give some credit to BMW 6 Series (F12)
The best 5 series for me, but not this engine. I had one for a few years and regretted not going for the bigger one, felt a bit underpowered.
